Melo never lived up to his full potential because he's not a Kobe or Lebron in work ethic. He was more like AI, he was getting into trouble and got too cocky too.. A frustrating player to coach as you see the potential but also the problem
It just seemed to me that Melo is kind of, uh, mellow. He doesn't seem o be the competitor that Kobe or LeBron were/are (not to mention Jordan, Bird, etc). Didn't have the killer instinct. He played in "his comfort zone" is a polite way of saying this.
I don't agree with Karl calling out Melo father or other players. As a coach, you have to take a certain responsibility to lead your players. That means even being a father to them. I think Karl wasn't that great of a coach for Melo and the Nuggets for 8 years and lost in the first round every year besides 2009. Whatever Melo wanted to be a complete player or not, Karl failed the Nuggets and pointing fingers didn't help anyone after the fact. For Karl to say what he did 6 years after Melo left was silly.

Horrible coach he had tons of good squads and never got his team far .. he’s the type to blame everyone but himself
96 Sonics lost to bulls in 6 games in the finals
Yes, he did throw just about every player he had under the bus.

He got to the championship NBA finals vs Chicago bulls

And by not doing much, you mean he took the Sonics to the playoffs every year, and the Finals once.
