- I recently published and released my first commercial game on Google Play. In this devlog I will go through all the updates that have been made as well as the statistics for downloads and the revenue. This is the last devlog in the series on me making a casual mobile game and as an indie solo game developer.

damn this was uploaded just as i finished the original video
This channel is proof that the Swedish indie scene is alive and well. Good luck dude!
Thank you sir!
everything from sweden is amazing. speedrunning shorts, pewdiepie, minecraft, and even ALPINE ODYSSEY!
Love the series, been here from the beginning, don't stop the grind!
Happy to hear that, really appreciate it sir! Will not stop, to much fun(most of the time) making games!
I’ve played this game today after watching your previous video. Not gonna lie I kinda like it you don’t have to stress about anything you just play brain deadly and enjoy the game
thanks for sharing this guy! I realy like those videos, it shows the reality of indie gamedev
I would say 2 things could make this work... first, the number one money maker for all free2play games are Skins and Battle Pass. Plus you earned $9. Reskin the exact game 20 times and see if one hits. Do a surfing version, a skating version, a rollerblading version, a sledding version, a boogie boarding version, and anything else you can think of. With the coins you collect, have the ability to purchase items from a store. Maybe add in some power ups that you can use like 1 or two times per run, like jumping or 1 or 2 sec rewind, or a free life. Keep pumping these out until something catches, then when something catches on with good installs put all your time and effort into that game. Improving the graphics, listening to the community, continually updating. But really you need to pump out a lot to find the winner.
This looks amazing! Just found your channel!
I feel like the characters could use like an ability each, which would make people want to watch ads to get them, as they have interesting abilities, idk, do whatever you want! Good luck! And you got a new sub!
Thank you, really appreciate it
wish you all the best for your steam game mate...i felt bad that mobile game of yours didn't work as you expected...much power to you bro, here to support yaa till you succeed 🎉
Good luck on the new journey!
Yes, would love to see what ideas you have for a steam game. Great project, honestly not a bad quality game.
Thank you sir!
Wow I like the creative style of it. Nice job
CONGRATS TO 6K SUBSCRIBERS!!!
I have some experience with releasing games. The SINGLE BIGGEST MISTAKE game developers make is to give up on their game immediately after release, instead of nurturing the game and doing everything possible to grow it. Imho instead of abandoning this game you should keep adding new features and new monetization options. Later, when you have cracked the formula, add new platforms. OBVIOUSLY a small game like this is not going to be a mega hit on day 1. Day 1 is just the beginning!
You're absolute right, keep updating and improving is the way to go. Thanks for input sir!
@@devratgamescan you release dino remake on mobile devices please
Good luck in the future mate.. The game seems fun, and that's what's important, hope you keep up what you want to do, eventually you'll reach the goal! Hope you do great! ;)
Thank you! Appreciate it
Keep up the hard work, you will get your Lamborghini someday !
I think to make it more exciting to play, you should add some power-ups to pick up like in Mario Kart to give players more incentive to take risk for reward and able to progress further. This game has a lot of potential. You just need keep working on improving it. Some games only start to make a lot of money after having been released for a few months to a year.
Thank you for feedback sir!
I’ve always been curious about game development and this video shows some parts of it. Wish you could include an expense breakdown and hours spent working as well as revenue.
I think the game is great in it's simplicity! I got quite addicted to it. I even gave it a lovely review on a blog no one wants to read 😅
Hallå!! Keep making games and you will find yourself making a top seller one day 🎉😊
Congrats on what you’ve done! How did you get others to find out about your game? I’m trying to make games myself and I can’t seem to find an audience. Thank you and best wishes on your development journey!
Bro you made 17$ while my game made like 15$ within 1.5 years (+10k downloads) lol. Be proud of that :D
My game made me 0.21 USD after 1 month😂
what really can bring in money is to ditch the ads and selling skins and stuff for money
I think people would play this if you added jumps, different biomes, abilities etc. Increase the desire to explore and give room to do something more fulfilling than see how far you can go. Making a well earning game isn't about making anything and then marketing it well. It is about making something which people would rather spend their time on than the competition.
I think you can earn more on fivrr xD greate video, thank you for doing this video, it was insightful for me
"...I believe it1s better to make it for PC..."
or perhaps familiarize yourself with the mobile market, so you know what to do to increase your revenues (keyword optimization, page view conversation and other ASO techniques, ads mediation, icon A/B testing, etc. )
_Sounds fun..._
@@TheBcoolGuy If we want to make money with our games, it's never just about having fun. Neither on mobile, nor on PC, nor on console. ;)
Do you have any recommended channels for monetization related information?
You're right, it's a whole science with optimization, ASO, testing etc. There are a lot you can do, if you know your stuff
Check out @JustinGofficial
This game seems promising. UI is a bit chunky but if some stuff was added it could be quite high tier imo tbh. Will try it as soon as I get my hands onto an android phone.
I think what would work is adding more unique skins and things to stylize such as unique crash animations. Don’t put them as purchases but a reward for watching ads that are optional. I know it’s a skill game but I think adding something like the skier can shoot at enemies or I really like the idea of helicopters coming and dropping bombs and mix of enemies. You could then introduce a sort of skill tree like increased speed or jump. They could watch an optional ad to gain some skill points towards a random trait. Different landscapes and vehicles could be a plus also such as an at on a muddy downhill run
Great video, hoping this steam game also became a CZcams video saga
Thanks! It will!
listening to the doom soundtrack cant be this chill
You can't go wrong with the Doom soundtrack!
All the best for your steam game 🤟🤟🤟
Thank you sir!
I recommend starting a tik tok and instagram for this game and spamming short form content as it will drive a lot of people
if you put items that can be purchased in the game, I wonder how much of a change there would be in terms of money... I hope you get a chance to try it.
I think it's not a bad outcome as you think, obviously if you haven't a huge marketing campaign the rise can't be other than slow. But as you can see from the organic installs, the grow should be exponential. More interesting would be to see how much is being played, and how much frequently the ads is shown. Personally I've downloaded the game and I haven't ever feel the urge to buy another life because the game is more chilling than competitive, what do you think?
Yeah, will dive into the data, haven't analyzed it that much yet. Thanks for input!
Honestly now, add a donate section, where you can watch unlimited adds just for fun, I would honestly turn on my 3 phones and watch ads for a few hours, it’d be completely worth it!
Awesome Video!
Thanks!
Ur game is great i enjoy it
I am still shocked by the cpm, it way above youtube or even tiktok cpm
Good luck on Steam! 😊 👍
Thank you! Will need it :)
i really suggest you make the game have a vertical option and various controls to choose from aka on a real slope if you push right you go left
Very nice
I would say that your game is very good and decent it needs more improvements.
1:40 Add some small ski ramps so people can jump over to other side, not too big so it's still risky and you have align before jump
Keep going ;)🎉
Mobile is a sad affair. I remember the renaissance of early apps; just pay a dollar or three and you keep the polished app forever, no subscriptions, no hassle. For whatever reason, their production dropped off the app stores. All that’s left is the big players with bigger marketing strategies.
I still have my old ipod with all that abandoned software. Someday I’ll repair it to enjoy the simpler times.
Would implementing a leaderboard system increase ad use? Wouldn't players use the revive with an ad function more regularly to extend their records in competition with others no? Show a leaderboard on death maybe, right next to the revive with ad option.
My goal for 2024 is also develop a videogame and publish it on steam! What engine are you using for your game? and do you have an idea of what game you are going to make? Good luck dude!
Wish you all the best with your game! I'm using Unity right now. Will try out Godot sometime as well
Nice 💚🔥
Do when you click on both sides the player jumps
If you make a good mobile game that isn’t hyper casual it could work if it’s high quality enough.
Not quite sure that's how it works on mobile... For example, Toon Blast, which has a brainless repetitive gameplay (hyper-casualized version of match3 genre) made billions of dollars. While Wild Rift (beautifully made mobile version of League of Legends) only made like half of that. A game like Toon Blast is easy enough to be made by a small team or even a solo dev in one year or so, while Wild Rift was several years in development by a high-tier professional studio. If profitability is all about game quality and depth, something doesn't add up here🤔
@@IvanTeslenko To be honest most of the time its just luck or blowing up on TikTok or something like for example lethal company blew up because of funny moments
Also a note it made a lot of money because that’s what it was designed to do instead of designing a good game
Good game!
think of it that way - make 10 clones of the same game but reskin it and earn not 17 but 170 :)
nice

Bro your ad system is broken. When I open the game and die a couple of times, it shows me an ad, but after that, no matter how many times I die, I don’t see the ad. With such a system you will never make money.😢
Did you have old Google console account ? You didnt need 20 testers?
Yes fortunately i had an old account, Would have been a challenge for me to gather 20 testers otherwise 😀
Wow!! That ecpm, mine is at 0.80€ 😢
Hang in there bro
@@devratgames thank you so much! And good luck with your games! I’ll keep watching your advancements ❤️
Is SkyLine Scooter released?
Why didn't work with a publisher like devolver digital or kongregate
I just tried it out, I kept noticing black lines across the screen, makes it look a little glitchy. Also the ordering of skins is a bit weird, the default one is in the middle of the list, and I think it should be on the far left.
Also, I think it would be awesome if you could add some sort of progression to the game. You could add new levels, or skills or equipment that could help you skii faster or turn tighter.
Thanks for great feedback, appreciate it!
Not sure if it’s even possible to see the character in a mobile phone. It’s too zoomed out for small screen like phones’.
guess youtube did its thing
Maybe run ads for your game to see if it gets better results?
mobile is hilarious, its not saturated per say it just requires designing your game around microtransactions. I have released 3 apps on the play store.
First one received 500k downloads - Just ads (about $2 per day for year+ now)
Second one 200k - Ads and VIP pass to unlock all skins (about $1.50 per day for year+ now)
Third one 250k - Screw making a real game, copied the microtransaction hussle so much it was actually a sick joke - ($12 per day for year plus)
I haven't made a game since but microtransaction hussle is ON POINT! Less downloads, more money, happy dev
Witch program do u use ?
Unity to make this game
@@devratgames thank you bro!
I like your videos and your channel and I i like that we are on somewhat similar path and video style ❤ real recognize real... Great work 👏
Yo Alex! Really enjoyed how you spiced up Robot Kyle in last devlog, have followed your journey as well. Keep up the good work, looking forward to see what's coming next!
Добре і корисне відео)
Yes my account is terminated by Google team, they have been harsh to developers they just terminated without any notice and can't let me open new account because i maybe mistakly violated their terms and policy which is changing overtime and maybe i forgot to update my apps or any reason they should let us allow to open new account...
I actually really enjoy your game, but one thing that I think would make the game way more replayable and addictive is to have the slope and obstacles randomly generated every time because it does become kind of boring having the same slope over and over again.
The game seems cool.
Have you tried to send it to a mobile publisher ?
Thank you! No havent, guessing the game is not marketable/unique enough.
@@devratgames I don’t think it necessarily needs to be unique to be marketable.
With some mobile publisher you can test prototype with them and depending of few metrics if they are good enough you can be published.
I think it could be worth for you to know about this.
If you are interested in it, I can share some publisher name with you.
are you using unity?
Yes
you should try uploading the game to a web portal like poki and share the results with us!!!
why don't you just put a small ad card at the bottom of the screen all the time
Wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror again if I did ;)
2:43 I'm sorry byt Flying Gorilla is by far the best game on the PlayStore
A good game must have FOMO
Pls source code ❤
What the fuck it could be a dejavu but I'm pretty sure I played the exact game as a kid. Like 8 years ago. This feels weird
Was it "Chilly snow"?
@@devratgames no it was with a skier and same gesture design I think
Fix your Dino game, I KEEP FALLING THROUGH THE GROUND!

Många bra med "Egoist" är kanon, vilken är din #1?
Vinternoll2, Banger !
Put micro transactions on the game, like 1$ for a skin, either of the character or something else, you might be able to make some more like that
You just need to become mr beast’s kids godfather and problems solved
Lol
Bro its from sweeden🤘🏼
can't hide it :)
ios pls
Just wait until he randomly stops uploading just like every other good game dev channel
I disagree with your conclusion! You only had your first 1000 downloads. Your game seems too short. It looks beautiful; add more slopes, color schemes (sunsets, riding at night, country themed slopes - Japan with sakura and bamboo, Kilimajaro with Baobab trees, silly slopes like water slides). Add some snow park elements, jumps, pipes. Some silly stuff later on... Yeti crossing your path, other skiers to avoid. Some level system... finish this slope, then go to a different-looking one. Different characters could have some different characteristics. People doesn't have enogh reason to spend more time in your game
Great feedback, appriciate it!
ReMake Minecraft for 30 thousand like
Sorry but you aren't really qualified to judge the mobile market as a whole. You can absolutely make a living on mobile without being a big company with a large marketing budget, you just need to put in alot more than 6 weeks of effort. A quick hypercasual mobile game like this will almost never perform well.
Brushing off the mobile market for indies as a whole just because your lite skiing game didn't make much money is just poor, inexperienced advice.
Absolutely agreed
You're absolute right, it's a whole science with optimization, ASO, A/B testing, etc. There are a lot you can do, if you know your stuff. And yes, it's the wrong channel if you're looking for pro tips. Still believe you have a greater chance for "success" with PC games vs mobile as a solo developer though. But I may be wrong.
I agree and also disagree. POV: Am also a Mobile game developer that have worked with publishers.. Alot of them, the mobile market isn't friendly anymore towards indie games mostly from New indie gamedevs who doesn't even have money to boost their games via UA, and also you don't need to spend up to 6 months + to make a game for it to survive ... Trust me... I've seen people(including my friends) who put alot of energy into their mobile games, gave it quality, worked on it for over a year only for it to have only 100 downloads.... Mobile games is all about marketing(paid or free), that's why you see a company can create a terrible game but if they do a market test and they see they can actually make some profit off it, they'll spend tons of money on running ads on the game boosting the game to #1 on US App store or play store and they'll get their money back with some profits...... In conclusion, try to make it simple and fun while marketing it to a wider audience(paid or free), even a bad game that was created in a day can be successful with good marketing while a quality Game that took 2 years to make can be a total failure due to bad marketing so it's all about marketing.. Nothing much Nothing less
@remijoel1448 That's all fair. I'm a full time mobile dev too and I'm surviving with basically 0 organics because I can acquire users for less than what they spend on average. Build a good game, monetise it well, fire up a Google ads campaign and you are good to go.
@@checkbox.entertainment that's just it, for any one to scale through/survive the market, he/she has to be willing to spend some certain amount of money for paid advertisement to acquire some users to give the app a boost but sadly this doesn't apply for everyone as some people don't have enough budget to acquire users and some can't even have access to most advertising platform because of country restrictions or card restrictions(am affected by card)
I just found you out in my recommendation,Your game looks pretty interesting. Im excited to see how it goes. Do you have a discord?
Great channel & Great Content! Do you have a discord?
