    My normal leopard gecko was $52 but that’s because I was supporting a very small family owned pet shop in my small town, you gotta compete with those big box store prices. But I’d much rather give more of my money to a small business 💕

    In my opinion I think crested geckos need uv light more, a lot of them will sleep on the side of the tank or on a branch where even though they’re asleep the sun light is still shining on them. They’re more exposed to uv light than leopard geckos tbh

    I love both the same. I have heard crested geckos will only drink from running water but my crested goes down and drinks out of her water dish. I had not thought of premixing and putting it in a squeeze bottle in fridge thanks for that idea.
    GOD BLESS and have a great Sunday.

    I watch and love your videos. I have a 28 gallon aquarium with a false bottom (hydro balls, egg crate, window screen). The substrate is a block of eco earth, a bag of reptile bark, a bag of Zilla Jungle Mix, 2 cups of worm castings. Sphagnum moss is placed in a corner. Plants are a spider plant and a pothos.

    I love both of them but I think I would prefer having a crested gecko, I currently have a leopard gecko and love her very much but the crickets are not very clean haha. I'm hoping to get her off of crickets and stick with dubia roaches and mealworms but my mother does not allow roaches in the house. Anyways loved the video ❤️

    I got a crested gecko from the pet store on the 9th and I’ve only seen him 3 times. He is eating and pooping. I haven’t seen him come out since and I haven’t gotten a chance to weigh him because. Are there any tips for getting him to come out a little because I would like a chance to build trust and a good bond with him

    • @ellesreptiles
      @ellesreptiles  Před 4 lety

      Baby animals are (almost) always going to be a bit more skittish. With mine, I would put my hand in the tank daily, where he could see me. So at night when he was out eating, I would make sure to put my hands in there. He got comfortable enough with my hands pretty fast.
      Once he stopped running away when my hands were near him, I started hand feeding him wax worms occasionally or using a chop stick to feed him his pangea.

  • @stuckinthelazycorneragain4016

    I personally think that if it benefits your animal it should be necessary, not optional. I mean if it benefits your animal why wouldn’t you get it? I think a lot of people go into getting an animal and only doing the bare minimum like why would you not want to give your animal the best care?

    • @hannahthefallenangel788
      @hannahthefallenangel788 Před 4 lety +1

      Well it depends like for ball pythons UVB has benefits for activity and coloration but of they dont come out alot maybe it's better to save your buck? Idk depends on the animal I guess

    • @ellesreptiles
      @ellesreptiles  Před 4 lety +1

      I agree! I think you're talking about the lights right?👀 If so, yes, that's why I have UV lights on both of my leopard geckos. The use of them has definitely been recommended a whole lot more since I first got my leo though, but I think it makes quite a difference 😊

    • @stuckinthelazycorneragain4016
      @stuckinthelazycorneragain4016 Před 4 lety

      Elle's Reptiles Yes i meant the lights! But I have seen this with other things as well. Just in general I think you should aim to do the best thing for your animal, always!

    • @stuckinthelazycorneragain4016
      @stuckinthelazycorneragain4016 Před 4 lety

      HannahThe FallenAngel I see your point and it does depend on the animal but as a whole I think if you’re not willing to pay the extra buck for something that’s beneficial to your animal (regardless of what animal it is), I don’t think you should have it. There will always be additional expenses you don’t account for ana a scary amount of people choose the easier/cheaper option at the expense of their animal. Its the mindset I dislike in general not whether you choose to have UVB or not. If that makes sense lol!

    • @mariahrose5909
      @mariahrose5909 Před 4 lety +1

      Yes i agree! If it benefits your animal why wouldn't you want the best? Also a tip with dig boxes for leopard geckos don't let them have one til their above i believe 15 grams. As i heard!

      You definitely want to avoid that, because (like HannahThe FallenAngel said) there's a big risk of diseases and parasites. You also never know if they've come into contact with any pesticides.
