I hope you (or the character in the film) discovered that in the end, they did and do look like you; that once we see beyond our superficial differences and extrinsic/intrinsic identity markers, we see we are first and foremost human, that the brotherhood of mankind welcomes all of humanity, even if the empire doesn't at times.
this short is sooo relatable.. grew up skating in the late 90's and always felt like an outsider. times are changing (slowly but surely) and i've finally found skate communities that I can relate to. awesome work, Jasmine, I hope to skate with you one day!

Your BTS stuff on Instagram-and your work for the XH2S campaign was a big factor in convincing me it would be a great hybrid photo/video camera. And it has been! I continue to follow you for examples of what Fujifilm cameras are capable of, but better yet, it’s great to see you evolve as an artist - because that’s ultimately what’s most important. Great to see how skateboarding and filmmaking have helped you reconnect with yourself. Many happy miles to you!

I had a very similar experience except I gave up action sports to fit the image of this nerdy Asian girl that my peers had pigeonholed me as (you'd think nerds would be into skating because of THPS but my friend group in college made fun of skaters :( ). I started skating again at 36, and progress is slow and I'm still on my own, but I'm having fun living the life I want.
I believe I met you during the hard time that manifested this truly amazing short film. Working with you during the Storytelling series with Fujifilm USA 2 years ago was already such an inspiring experience and seeing you trying to come into this DP role to now seeing THIISSSSS!!!! wow is the only thing I keep repeating. I'm truly happy for you that you pulled this off. Thank you Fujifilm and Jasmine 🥺
