I think she's completely right. The media chooses who they want to target for writing songs about their personal life and who they don't want to target. Newsflash! Every singer writes about love. What are they supposed to write about? Dragons? Faith Hill, Tim Mcgraw, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Lorde, JOHN MAYER, Beyonce, Demi Lovato, Coldplay, etc. They all write about their love lives.
I don't think people judge her for writing about her personal life...the problem is that she writes an entire album about an one/two month old relationship and that is simply ridiculous!! she overexaggerates situations and that's what's putting people off...you can't date someone for a few weeks, break up with them, blast them in every public occasion you can and then write songs about how much they meant to you...it's just not real...if she wanted true love she wouldn't date womanizers and douchebags who all ''happen'' to be extremely famous, she would find a decent guy to settle with but she doesn't...it's always the same story!!!she is a great song-writer and seems like a nice girl but she definitely uses her relationships more than any other artist in the music business to boost her career...
***** I get where you're coming from. But I think songwriting is an emotional, dramatic way of expressing your life. A lot of times songs are much worse than reality because I'm sure we all exaggerate stuff in our heads. When we're young and we breakup with someone, it can seem like the end of the world, even though it's obviously not and you'll move on eventually. You know what I mean? And a lot of singers write about things that don't last very long. There are countless rappers that sing about the one time they had sex with that one girl that one night. Or singers talking about that one time they saw that person and they fell in love, even though that's kinda bull. Lol.
And I think the media exploits the guys more than Taylor does. The only time she said who the song was about was Joe with Forever and Always. And she's even said she was really immature there and will never do that again. We make mistakes when we're young and angry. And yes, she could date a normal guy, but I don't think that would change her outlook about writing about her life because that's just what singers do. Normal or famous. Maybe it's just a coincidence that the boyfriends are famous because she works in that industry with them. It's like us finding boyfriends in school or our work. We don't mean to always find people we like in the place we work, it just happens because they're right there.
Anyways, those are just my thoughts. I respect your opinion though! No hate here. :) And of course none of us will never know Taylor personally. This is just my take on the situation. :D
Its just because she always dates very famous people and fans are always very curious about what she got to say about their personal life. If she would date some random boys then I think it wouldnt be such a big deal.

If someone came up to me and said you need to date someone from a different school than yours or someone who has a different career than you, I would be like "What the f**k?!" HAHAH And she did date someone that was relatively random. Connor Kennedy wasn't really know by many unless you follow the Kennedy clan, but when Taylor dated them, he got much more popular. I just thinks it's hard to tell someone who and who not to date. I mean, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, Katy Perry, etc. could've married random men to make their lives easier, but that's the people they fell for. :)

Taylor formulates her feelings is such a beautiful way and people can't see that. Don't speculate things and don't be so pessismistic about her dating life. Love is still a mysterious thing, and sometimes you have to try it, if its gonna work out or not. I think that you need a boyfriend or something to know how it feels..
Taylor Swift is very smart. You can see it in every interview, the way she answers and handles all the questions. She's really very good with words. She makes me want to hang on to every word that she says. I was not really a very big fan of her before but when I started watching her interviews, I was like "Wow, she's amazing"

itunes needs to get with the program and classify this album pop. i uploaded my cd to my library and it was "country and folk" like no....
It's because her label is considered country, and itunes classifies artists by their record label and genre that the label posesses. As long as she's with Big Machine Records, it will always say that when she comes out with an album. You can change it in your library, though!

I don't mind that she writes about her exes. I still love, LOVE her songs (well, except some that aren't my taste, but doesn't mean I hate 'em). It's her life. It's like her exposing her innermost thoughts to the world. She's not writing songs to impress people, she writing songs to express her feelings and hopefully help others express theirs. I haven't had an ex but there's just that relatable vibe to her songs. I never get tired of them. When she writes a song I don't think about "ooh, another ex, who's it for?" I listen to the lyrics, try to picture out the story she's portraying and just enjoy the ride :> haha

No doubt she is incredibly smart, I just have a hard time relating to such a "perfect" person.. The woman who's giving the interview hit the nail on the head, she's unapproachable. Her hair is always flawless, her skin is flawless, nails, make up, clothes It's all flawless.
If and when stars come out looking unattractive, messy or "normal" people get upset and starting dragging. So Taylor realizes this and is never seen not looking pretty, flawless, and best dressed. Especially when she knows the paparazzi are out and waiting to hopefully catch her looking bad.What is wrong with looking the very best ?

UMM, hello. Did Ed not write "Don't", and for argument's sake, we speculate it is about Ellie Goulding, (it is). He wrote "Nina", about Nina Nesbitt. they are famous. You know i used to love her from her first album up until Speak Now because there were a lot of bitter songs on there and it seemed like she was a person who was becoming very revengeful. Now granted I do not know her personally i should not have said/thought sexist things about her or her writing (even if her character made me cringe) but now especially since 1989 i think she has done a lot of growing. She seems like a completely different person. She's much more put together and thought out. It's weird to say but i am insanely proud of her. She is a full on adult and this album is amazing. And about a year and a half ago i realized everyone sings about love and all these excuses i had to "hate" her and her music were just wrapped up in jealous or incorrect judgement. I now see that what i thought of her and her songwriting was rather sexist and i am so so so happy to see her now for what she truly is. We all change and grow up and mature and it's weird that we both have throughout the same timeframe. Weird. Anyway, love this interview love Taylor and I think we should always encourage each other in the best way possible because she seems like an amazing girl. (:

I think it's beautiful how she can create write songs which all depict as if it happened to her. A lot of it is always metaphorical instead of literal right? And Unless she name drops we need to consider them to be metaphorical and see if the song fits our life instead of her llife.

'Dear John' is a common term for a break up letter. She wrote the song like a letter. Though given the details in the song, its pretty obviously about him, but she never actually came out and slammed him.
