Make sure the suspension bushings aren't cracked. Replace the cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, fuel pump, clean the IACV, and adjust TPS. Should make the car run great if it doesn't already. If it leaks, the weather stripping is what I'd focus on first. Drive her nice, dont drive it like an animal and she'll last you a long time. These cars are great once you get to know them. Good luck with the svo man, i got an 88 gt at the moment. I know this is late but I figured I'd tell you a couple of things about the cars. If you treat them right they'll treat you right.

Nikki N this was a special limited run car. It's made to be balanced for road racing. This car was way ahead of it's time. Full adjustable koni suspension, fuel octane switch for boost, almost perfectly balanced weight distribution, 5 lug and rear disk when no other mustang had it at the time.

Wrong completely, these were a limited pre runner to the SVO but they were not faster than the V8 mustangs. I had 2 bramd new 86 GTs and a friend had his GT turbo and hated it. They are indeed a special car and nice ones are quite collectable but no, they didn't hold a candle to the V8s.
These are cool cars, even some are highly collectable, but performance wise , I'm thinking maybe 150 or so HP, I'm vaguely familiar with them cause one of my buddies had one but the rest of us opted for the V8 which would easily leave the turbo cars
