You should do a video showcasing all your shoes. Like a closet tour!
I might do that!
Yes that would be a great idea, I'd like to see that as well
Yes I'll also love to see
@Toto Ahrens 🤣🤣.....go get a wifi connection
Please
I very recently became mesmerised by the world of shoes. I've been wearing sneakers all my life, i thought they were comfortable and "fit my style". Turns out i had none to begin with. Last year i had to buy some work shoes and i got a pair of black chelsea boots, with zippers along each side instead of elastic fabric and some nice wool inside. When they arrived, it just so happened that i was wearing a new pair of black jeans, that for the first time, were fitting me RIGHT. (Up until then, my pants were at least one or two sizes over my actual size..)
So i got the shoes on, i got up and the first thing i saw when i looked down, was almost perfectly straight lines, ending in perfectly shaped shoes, and it was perfect. For the first time, i was looking at something that fitted me right and looked elegant.I WAS HOOKED! I then proceeded to buy a beige suit alongside 3 pairs of brown shoes, and two other black pairs of boots. For my light coloured clothes i bought new sneakers that fit the style and size, and now all of my pants end untop of slightly smaller shoes, creating a nice ending line.
Now all of my clothes make sense, i even bought a fancy labeler so i can better organize my shelf. I also got another shelf.. i bought shoe creams for all colours and i take care of them after each wear. I have to say, im finding these videos very relaxing and inspiring. Im actually sorounded by shoes at the moment and i love each pair and treat them with respect. Im actually embarrased that i wore teenager clothes for so long.
Now my wardrobe is completely different.. and it all started at the intersection of a nice pair of shoes and some good fitting pants..
That burgundy brown color you're talking about is how the Thursday brown president comes, it's perfect on those boots
Thanks! My Thursday captains came in that color and I love them
Idk why but I can’t get enough of these videos 😂
Please do a shoe collection video !
👇🏻
Yup how many pairs do you have?
I swear the mirror finish is hypnotizing 😆 every freakin time😆👍🏽
Beautiful pair of boots. It’s relaxing watching you condition and polish shoes.
One of the best shoe sine videos I have seen in a very long time. The burgundy on the brown= brilliant Sir. Touche'!
Amazing!!! Always making them look outstanding!
Your videos are awesome! Shoe shining has always been a hobby of mine and you have shown me how to take it to the next step!
I’m glad the videos have helped
At first, there was Kirby. Then, Martin the Maketh. Now, Elegant Oxford is my sanity cure.
What a work of Art. Those r so darn Handsome. I luv them do and admire ur work Tremendously. Keep up the great work Preston. I appreciate u.
Oh my...they look really great!!! Thanks!
That is very interesting with adding the burgundy. I will try this. Thanks for the tip!
Job well done as usual. I love your videos. Thanks from Italy Ciao Preston 🔝👏👍
100 to 1 approval for your posts....That's about right!!!
That finish is awesome.
Showing the video how shoes were looking at begging and little bit in middle than how look at the end is same like showing the movie little bit in begging middle and than here we go this is the end of the movie have nice night! Many of us wanna see virtually every step of restoration and shine, that's reason why we watching this kind of videos in first place! Look at how Jason Dornstar does!
I really like these boots, they are very nice indeed. Lovely colour too.
🍫
Great video. I'm always learning something new. I will give the Mod Podge a try. Thanks.
Firstly, gorgeous shoes!
Secondly, great work!
Those boots are sharp!!! I love your videos so much I had to tell a customer about you channel for her husband. Hope she checks you out she will not be disappointed.
Amazing! Thanks
You ever wanted to know why anyone could thumbs down these videos, this is professional work
👍Another great job. I know this channel is about mens shoes but I’m lady who loves taking care of her beautiful shoes. I’m using these techniques & tips on my shoes. I cringed at the Mod Podge but I’m gonna give it a try. Thank you. 💞
Love them boots!
Very nice!
Beautiful boots and shine! ❤️👍
Maybe you could do a video of your many different styles of shoe trees and how you choose which to use on which shoe? I've been looking at Woodlore's trees and there are a bunch to choose from.
Those boots are gorgeous!
Gotta lot to learn from you. Now, I’m on the hunt for those fifth street boots!
Might be hard to find them, Allen Edmonds discontinued them, however check the Allen Edmonds website they have a boot that looks like the 5th Street it's called The Hamilton
Nice Job Preston!
Awesome looking boots!
Just beautiful !
Well done sir , excellent !
Almost as good as mine 😌
Great video! Just wondering : if you already applied wax the previous time, will the conditioner penetrate the leather?
Beautiful pair of boots. I like the boot look. Question for you Preston if you wear a size 9.5 D in shoes, would you wear the same size in AE boots.
Great video
Great boots 👍
He certainly does quality work
Hello. Love your channel. I've learnt a lot about shoecare. How many times a week should i apply conditioner / cream to my shoes ?
I don't understand people sometimes. Very damned if you do, damned if you don't LOL. I love the videos, and my wife now knows you by name. I watch the youtube videos online and she goes "Is that Preston?" You are now on a first-name basis in my household. Also when any new Saphir stuff or shoes show up you are my scapegoat...thanks buddy
That’s amazing, Brian! CZcams is full of harsh critics but it’s ok! Thanks for watching.
I’m glad you and your wife both watch!
The Fifth Street boot is my favorite, I missed the trunk show I was going to buy some in Shell cordovan, that would be awesome
Mine were delivered yesterday. I’ll do a video soon
You got the 5th Street boot in Shell cordovan? Damm!
Can’t wait to see those
It looks fantastic! How often do you apply this routine? Also, how often do you wash with saddle soap prior?
Thanks for Sharing the mod podge secret!
Great vid! You should research and do a shoe shine based on ancient materials and leather care. Like: "How the Ancient (Romans) Shined their Leather" or something!
Great idea!
my shoe maintenance routine is usually as follows: i brush off the shoes about once a weekish, apply shoe cream +wax once a monthish, apply renovateur + shoe cream + wax once per season, and then remove everything with reno mat and start afresh once a year.
Sounds good to me!
I'm thinking of getting a pair of brown Fifth Streets in Shell Cordovan on the next trunk show. I'm saving up for them, especially since they will be the first pair of shoes in shell.
They are worth it! Such a great shoe!
These boots are absolutely beautiful sir!! Like the comment below me, I also would love to see your collection. But at the same time I’m already jealous so I’m sure that would just make it even worse lol.. All jokes aside you are amazing at this and I truly enjoy your videos!! My wife has asked me many many times how I’m able to sit and watch someone shine a pair of shoes that aren’t even mind for 2-3 hours a day lol.
Big like from Montréal
Hey Elegant Oxford, great videos, I really admire your work. Question: I tend to get a lot of weird streaks when I use Saphir pommadier, even after rigorously brushing. What am I doing wrong? This is true even of cream that matches the colour of the shoe. It leaves splotches on the leather. Is this some interaction with the wax? I don't get the same effect with the Beaut de Cuir cream from saphir.
Great video. What I would want to know is what finish can you get with a cheaper pair of shoes
Great video Preston, quick question, you didn't show an application of renovateur to the toe box. Was that a video edit or do you avoid that area?
I don’t do that area due to the mirror finish but I strip the wax and start over once a year.
Those fifth avenue boots are such a nice style! Shame that Allen Edmonds don't seem to make something in that style anymore.
Where do you get your shoe trees for your boots from, I can't seem to find those tall ones
Nice advices, thx so much 👍
Hey - great videos by the way - Question - How do you stop the cream from going into the little holes on the toe? Do you just let it go in and brush out after 5 minutes?
Lovely boots and Incredible shine! One slight concern watching it. On your left boot on the insides outer where the stitching is by the lace holes it looks like the thread has frayed quite badly? Is that the case? If so I would have AE do something about it as that should not happen and can lead to failure of the stitching to the lining and outer.
yeah, right. I like patina too.
How is the toecap and heel getting conditioned when there's still so much wax on it? How regular do you completely strip the wax off in order to do a full nourishment?
Nice boots 👍🏻
You've just turned me into a shoe junkie!?!?...I've just bought 4 "new to me" pairs of shoes/boots in the last 3 days!!!
🤪
LMAO!!
Thanks a lot....😉👍🙂
Dont wory it is normal.
And in 5 years when 90% of your other stuff hit the bin, you still have your well cared for shoes left better then new.
I really want to make my Steve Maddens look like this but I’m nervous to try. I just use Kiwi Mink Oil and they look like total crap compared to these. I’m impressed and envious at the same time.
Nice video. Thanks. What length shoelace do you use for those boots. They have 7 eyelets.
There is an expression in French " faire briller les chaussures comme des miroirs de bordel. "Shine your shoes like mirrors in a Cathouse" It says it all
the best boots
Can I send you my Allen Edmonds McGregors??!!!!!! Your technique is flawless.
I love this boot n their color but I have a black pair any suggestions about what other colors of polish to use to get a similar look like your brown pair
This was a very specific situation. Would appreciate one that is both more general; how often to shine, instructions for maintenance between wears if you are NOT being careless, and so on. Other scenarios where the shoes haven't been through much, how much is needed then, and so on.
Getting ready to purchase some vintage shoe trees. I wear size 10. Should I purchase same size shoe trees or, get size 11 allowing a tighter fit with the shoe trees? Thanks! Love your videos.
Get your size. A bigger size may not fit
Great tip on that Mod Podge! What color wax did you use?
Beatiful pair of boots
Thank you
Make a video on double monkstrap
Preston, I’m a big fan of your work. May I ask a simple question? I’ve heard, from Kirby and others, that it’s unwise to apply non-cordovan polish on cordovan leather shoes. Does the reverse ring true? In other words, is it safe to apply cordovan cream on calf leather shoes? Thank you, sir. 🙏🏽
Cordovan cream on calf is completely fine. It just doesn’t penetrate or shine as well but it’s ok!
How does wax work after wears? In between wears, if you have wax on shouldn''t it be removed first in order for the shoe cream to be absorbed? If yes how, and how often?
Thanks for the videos. Great work!
I think I watch this video once a month.
I was wondering if the conditioner will still penetrate through wax? I recently did a whole condition/polish/wax and planning ahead for the coming weekends. Would the renovator still condition with the wax even after a week or would I have to remove the wax to allow it to work?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Ever since I saw that fifth street boot on your channel it’s been my obsession. It’s too bad they stoped making them
Please make a video on how to care for a wet shoe.
What shoeblocks are that, nice shine and great video?
hey preston, i'd like to ask you about my shoe shine routine which i've had to change up since covid hit us last year. pre-covid, i would brush my shoes on a weekly basis, give them a light shine on a monthly basis, and renovateur + the aforementioned once per season. finally, i would use renomat once a year to reset everything. with covid, since i only wear my suits to the office 1x per week, i wear each pair of shoes maybe once a month only. as such, the only thing i do now is treat them with renovateur once per season. is this something that's OK?
Do you use Sephir mirror gloss wax for the final step or a regular colored wax for the final step? Oh by the way I find your video's very therapeutic.
two questions .... how often can you do this? Every wear too much? also.... should you apply renevteur to the interior leather lining?
How often do you use renomat? One youtuber suggested applying renomat before each time you polish and wax.
. . is a fear run of a tour. You know, Saphir Renovateur, in closed caption glory!!🤔🤦✨
Hi! Where can i buy one of those “boot trees” ?
Thanks and i love yout work.
@The Elegant Oxford
I am running into a problem following your example in another video: after using Bickmore's Bick 4 and Saphir's Medaille d'or cream polish, I applied Saphir's same line of wax polish, which undid the conditioning of the cream and conditioner. The Medaille d'or wax re-exposes old damage from salt water. Can you inform me about why the wax is causing this problem? I look forward to learning about this.
Hello Preston, I have some difficulty to find a proper shoe tree for my boots. Which shoe tree did you use in this video?
I have a question… I have posted this to you before but have not received an answer so I thought I would ask once again. I needed a pair of black shoes that I could wear for mission work in Africa in the townships in villages. I did not want to ruin a pair of expensive shoes and so I purchased a pair of Florsheim Norwalk black oxfords. They were made out of crazy horse leather. I thought I would simply give them a shine and they would look decent, but instead the crazy horse leather apparently has some sort of oil or wax in it that will not allow the shoe to be polished. Can you tell me what to do to remove the waxy film so that I can polish the shoes and get some sort of a moderate shine on them. I would really appreciate your advice. Thank you so much! Ed
Those look so sharp! Can you tell me if Allen Edmonds run true to size? I've been on the fence about buying some but I'm unsure of their size.
I find that their shoes run true to size.
I hope you provide links to the Saphir products you have used here.
Your videos are very relaxing and educational at the same time.
I bought some from Amazon.
So if I wear a pair of Allen edmonds Park avenues only for quartley meetings what do you suggest, stripping the shoes completely or using renovateur in between if there's no cracking?
Does the elegant oxford crest include two gnarly shoes awaiting a restoration and mirror shine?
What color wax did you use? Great videos
Mate where did you get those boots from? I'm a big fan of dress boots, it's just so hard to find non-balmoral style Oxford boots
Hi, I'm having some issues with my Hawes and Curtis shoes, I've bought trees but they seem to not be getting rid of the creases so I decided to use some marla cream to moisturise them and now the cream is coming out of the creases after wearing them for 30 minutes. What did I do wrong and how do I fix it?
Was it you who mentioned about using dark blue polish on black shoes?? If not what do you think?
I have heard different things about this, but can you apply more conditioner/cream polish if you already have waxed your shoes?
Thoughts on light brown creme on dark brown shoes?
What brand are these shoes? Love them and love your video, keep up the good work!
Allen Edmonds Fifth Street Boots In calf
Hi! How many times should I shine my shoes? Once a week or once every use?
How do you remove the old wax? I’ve only ever seen you use acetone, but that’s a bit harsh, right? And I thought you might have a tip to remove wax before it heaps up and becomes a flaky mess
Stupid question (as I'm just getting into the hobby): do you also apply the renovateur and cream on the mirror-shined toe cap or do you just wax it?
Not a stupid question...I'd like to know too😉
Hey Mr. Soto I have the same boots but needs a makeover. I Love the way you got yours looking and would love to see mine look like yours. How can I go about sending them your way for a look?
what boot is it?
