Completely agree! Billy and crew you are doing an amazing job! The kitchen is beautiful and so will the library. I agree with you that you have plenty of staircases already. Crack On!!
NEVER feel badly about any glitches you may have with math, dyslexia, or just having ‘blank’ moments, etc. Many of the old world artisans couldn’t even read, yet created structures that inspire us to this day. You’re doing a great job.
A spiral staircase is a hazard you don’t need. It would also throw off the symmetry you have achieved to date. This project particularly the new wall is more complex than I had imagined. Glad you have the vision of what you wanted to accomplish.
I agree with the decision on the spiral staircase. They are often very steep and the turning prevents one from putting the whole foot on the step. They are dangerous.
And as Billy pointed out a number of times, they have a perfectly fine stairway and elevator located right outside the side doors of the library. Why add an additional stairway inside the room when those are easily accessible.
I just love love the “cuz I don’t want to” comment. Perfect! Your money, your design and YOUR place!! Enough said and end of that. Keep on doing you and you alone ❤❤
Billy those of us that have followed your Chanel’s forever are still here loving the conquests you make with these buildings…your dreams are coming to fruition
Billy, I love your choice for backsplash and I am so proud of you for not caving to those who criticized your choice! You guys are doing a terrific job and I can’t wait for you to finish! Crack on!!
Great progress Billy! One suggestion: since Paddy is having to build new doors for the Library downstairs, why don’t you have him leave the top panels open and install leaded glass? The light coming through will create a gorgeous and dramatic entrance to the Library.
Other than the olive tree in the kitchen idea, everything you have wanted, and not wanted, have turned out perfect. Your visions are grander than the average John, which adds to the excitement & anticipation of how things will look in the end. Well done Billy & Alex. 🤗
Absolutely enjoy watching all the renovations! Love the color and texture of the backsplash! I agree not having the spiral staircase. They’re beautiful when in the right area. I could watch for hours! Thanks for posting! ❤🪴☕️
Awesome edition Billy! You are very competent with your planning, measuring and implementing! Your ideas to showcase particular portion on each floor are spot on! The fact that you’ve thought this all out, is an amazing thing! You’ve got this, Billy!
Don't forget about a little sound proofing between the two rooms. Large dining rooms can be noisy. Also.. Secret Rooms in the Library with all that space between the walls.
The back splash is perfect!! Why do folks feel compelled to tell Billy what to do & how to do it?? I have had the thought that Billy's visions/plans are crazy. Do I goad him? No. I am an old lady in the US (Southern California). I am disabled. THIS CHANNEL, The Pethericks, the team work, planning, Billys fostering of an environment of PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL GROWTH for himself & his team is inspiring. We do not have to "like" every thing that Billy does or does not do. What everyone needs to do is take a step back and see how well done the work is!! 👏
I understand your point of view. But conversely, if a content creator asks for viewers opinions and or suggestions, it's a bit much for them to get upset at the results if they don't happen to like/agree with the results. If you ask, you will get, I'm afraid.
Billy You do what You Decide to do because YOU WANT TO! We only give you advice when you ask us but YOU still decide at the end. I will still love that Convent because either way it looks AMAZING! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
The kitchen coat stand is a thing of beauty! I agree with you, no need for another stair case. May I just add its your property and you can do as you like. The library will look amazing when done.
Best line EVER, Why don't you, because I DON'T WANT TO!! You tell them Billy. This is your covent to do as it pleases you period! I personally have loved everything you have done.
Gordon Ramsey …… Cooking In Billy’s Kitchen would be amazing Billy …… I find your Design & Building Visions are ……FABULOUS …… go with your gut ….. its your convent build
I LOVE the backsplash, Billy. And you've got Gordon Ramsay's seal of approval, so who cares what other people think. Right? You are doing a fabulous job sorting out this renovation. Adding another staircase in the library would be overkill with the other stairwells just outside of it. A spiral staircase is going in the room off the chapel when you get around to it, so people will just have to wait for you to restore that to get their wish. The pieces you brought into the room look so beautiful. They're going to look spectacular when you get them properly stained and Osmoed. Just keep going, Billy, you're doing a fantastic job!! 👍 😎😘💕
No, using the Chapel might allow damage to that fragile old organ. Is that room right outside the chapel designated for anything yet? He is making a bar (wasn't that the room across from the kitchen?) plus the dining room next to the library. Also, tents in the outside compound or back garden can easily be used for social gathering.I would like a ballroom. What areas on the main floor are left?@@sunnyoak
@@sunnyoakAnd the chapel will be connected to the bar area and entryways so will do the job for sizable entertaining. Plus the wooden floors would be ideal for dancing. If Billy does move the organ to the gallery as he mentioned the area where it’s currently positioned would be an ideal stage for events and could be a band stage.
@@jennifercampbell7698 That’s what I mean. Moving the organ would allow for a stage, and you could totally have dinners and dances, speakers and classes, all kinds of events. And it could still be a chapel when desired. It would be used much more often.
I love what you have done with the kitchen and the library is looking amazing. Don't let the trolls or critics bother you. It is yours, it is your money. I'd can't wait to see you to host a huge party with that amazing kitchen at the convent.
Your vision is coming together Billy! And it’s looking amazing. You must be so excited. And we viewers sit in amazement at your hard work, your meticulous planning and execution, your kind and supportive management style and your team of wonderful workers and all your dreams for the convent. Also thank you for lifting those heavy library pieces into place to give us all a glimpse of the end product. Can’t wait to see this library progress further. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️
The thicker wall 27:10 will also provide an excellent place to run a chase within the wall to run pipes, wires, etc. from the basement up to the upper floors and into the attic.
Commenters: why didn't you do this or that! Billy: Cuz I didn't want to! Me: Kudos to you Billy🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Your money, you convent, your channel, your vision, your decision! Crack on!❤
I love that you gave a us a sneak peak into the library doors. What a splendid place that is going to be. Alex is living the dream, isn't he? From viewer/fan to videography and in the thick of it! Thanks for another great video, guys!
Well done Billy. You know the building more than anyone. Your work ethic and project managing is thought out thoroughly to keep the project moving forward.
Bravo Billy❗Adoring your addition of the oak section with hat/coat hooks, umbrellas/walking canes sections adorning that mini wall of the "convent's kitchen - a kitchen usually the main gathering place for family & friends❗Keep cracking on with your "manly intuition❗♥❗"
I have a suggestion for your problem of matching new and old oak in the library. It is a technique called ammonia fuming, ask your carpenter about it. It involves placing the new oak in ammonia fumes, the stronger the faster it works. I use Janitorial strength ammonia from the hardware store. Woods like oak have a lot of tannin in them, which when exposed to air and sunlight over years turns dark, which is why old oak is dark. Ammonia will do the same job in 24-48 hours as 200 years of normal exposure to air. It can be done on raw wood or completed projects, on a single stick of oak, or a whole room at once. The color change goes deep into the wood so repairs of nicks are simple, just sand and re-wax. It goes through finishes, so you can do it to things like the kitchen cabinets even now. I suggest you try an experiment, take a small piece of oak and suspend it in a jar with some string, put a cm of ammonia in the bottom, do not let the oak touch the liquid, let it sit for a day and take it out an put some Osmo in it, you will be amazed.
I think you have done a fantastic job of envisioning, planning, demolishing and executing the plan. You have a vision and you are making it happen. I fill honored to watch it happen. Don't let people deter you from your vision.

Haven't a clue what you're doing but I watch just the same. Love the piece of the library furniture you've put in the kitchen. Chef needs some where to hang his apron😊 you're looking so well Billy keep up the great work. Your presentation is always enjoyable. ❤🇿🇦
I am from the US & have been watching you since you started this project. I was always into the DIY Home Project TV and got hooked at the potential the property has. Billy Boy, you are knocking it out of the park!
For the first time ever I am going to add my 2 cents worth here. I believe there should be Jack posts in your doorway. Especially since it is a supporting wall. Then you set your header on top of them, then the rest of the studs above. Then your King studs go in alongside the Jacks and go right to the ceiling. You have only King studs. As for the rest of your vision, Crack On. I do have a suggestion for the empty space created by the wide doorway depth. I suggest you insert all your display shelving for your antiques and collectables that you've indicated you want to include. The other three walls can be bookcases. This is my dream library, it is in every dream house I have ever designed for myself. I am very excited to see it come to fruition. I will stay subscribed no matter what you decide to do. Thanks for the Moons, by the way. I am not horsey, but they are a ray of sunshine in my day.
Glad to see you are doing what YOU want to do with the renovation and not listening to everyone else's opinions. Your choices always turn out beautifully, keep up the great work

Things like "ooooo - watcha got there Billy?" when you pulled out the wooden cupboard and "You are a legend Yannis" when I see him working hard. I love your visions and ALSO when you change your mind or expand on an idea. The design process for any project, if done properly, is really organic and once that process is done will be well rounded by budget, time constraints, building regulations and the existing building itself. Agreed. NO on the spiral staircase.
They give me vertigo. Also, it's so hard getting things up and down a spiral staircase.
I think he had talked about doing one for the gallery in back of the chapel.
I agree with the decision on the spiral staircase. They are often very steep and the turning prevents one from putting the whole foot on the step. They are dangerous.
I’m quite tall and unless they’re really wide stairs they are all but unusable

Great idea. If he did the upper panels in the style of the glass doors of the bookshelves it could tie the room together.
I love this idea. Stained glass would look beautiful and add such gorgeous light.
@@tinycotswoldcottage He could find a local talent to design a beautiful glass work.
Although the 2 sets of double doors may impact that unless they are the main side entrance doors rather than the dining room entry doors.

Ignore the nay sayers. You have the vision - follow your heart
