  • In Arctic Thunder, up to 4 players can race across a snowmobile course littered with powerups and obstacles. The courses are done in an over-the-top style and several are (loosely) modeled after real-life locations, like Chernobyl and Washington, D.C. Players can acquire powerup items to harm other players and advance themselves.
Players have several characters to choose from with different stats that affect their attack, defense, and handling:
Dirty McCurdy a muscular, middle aged man with fair skin, a bushy dark brown mustache, and a bushy dark brown beard with grey accents. He wears sunglasses, a bright red skullcap, a light blue-grey shirt, a black biker`s vest brown pants, and black boots.
Mai Zhou Lin, she was chosen because of her exquisite martial arts and ability to perform incredible acrobatic stunts. Her race number is 3, and her snowmobile is "Jade Dragon".
Willie Quinn, he was on the Jamaican Bobsledder`s Team, which is why he was chosen by the ATRA. His sled is named "Wailer".
Ponzo. Little is known about this character. We currently know his nationality, species and also know that his sled is named "Banana Spliter".
His sled is dull/deep green and built from parts that once belonged to the spacecraft that took him to Earth.
Candy Ice is the daughter of the ATRA head, so she was automatically entered into the competition, beating her four same-aged sisters, who serve as her support crew. Her sled is named "Snow Kitten".
In every race you can grab power-ups to gain the advantage including the ability to throw snowballs / missiles at your opponents, but also shield protection, health recovery and speed boost. Players can also kick and punch people who are next to them, deping of the characters.
There are six point-to-point/open circuit tracks to race on including: Alaskan Pipeline, Chernobyl Meltdown, Blizzard in D.C., Haunted Forest, the Swiss Alps and a Lost Himalayan City.
If you reach first place in a course, you win a free race.

Man, this game was my childhood. I remember playing Arctic Thunder at Chuck E. Cheese's when I was a kid. My favorite track was Blizzard in D.C. I also remember my local Walmart used to have an Arctic Thunder arcade cabinet near the store entrance. I love playing this racing game numerous times. My favorite character for this game was Candy.

So glad to see more clean arcade gameplays on youtube! Though you got the description from the wiki. I wrote half of that. I`m planning to make sequels to these games someday.

Arctic Thunder is a fantasy snowmobile-racing game developed and published by Midway Games in December 2000 in USA for midway graphite hardware. It is a spin-off game to Hydro Thunder that plays like a mix of Cruis'n and a kart racer on ice.
The arcade cabinet has a full sit-down cabinet that resembled a snowmobile and was controlled with handlebars, it also jets blow cold or hot winds, depending on the setting, in the player's face during gameplay.
