I have dealt with this same JumpOut squad while I was in Memphis. They pulled me over while pulling into my apartment complex during lunch. The ordered us to get out, handcuffed us all, searched the car and trashed it, went through our cell phones (IF it was unlocked) and asked us about who we were texting. Nonetheless when it was over and they found nothing, they said we free to go but left my car a mess and aint say sorry or nothing. It was their point to make you feel ashamed, embarrassed, and powerless in front of your own home. The worst part of this is that all officers in my case as well were all black, with no care for they fellow brother or sister. Its one thing for us to scream and riot when a white cop kills us, but we got to keep the same energy when its our own.
Fact nobody protesting no where near as hard if it was 5 white cops had beat him…whole world would be going crazy now…black on black we turn the other cheek and still try and find a way to blame the white man

@SuperOmnicron this is not always the case. I was driving my sisters car with a busted headlight. I'm hispanic but look white. My brother has a dark complection so people think he's black. When I got pulled over, the cop asked for my ID, I was driving. The other cop went to my brother's window and shined the light in his face and told him to get out of the car. My brother said, I have my ID. The cop opened his door and pulled him out of the car. They handcuffed him, patted him down and let him go. Mind you, they never asked me for proof of insurance, registration, and never asked me to get out of the car and I also received no ticket or warning...I was heart broken for my brother. I didn't know what to say when he got back in the car. He acted as unphased as anyone could act so I asked him if he was OK. He said, welcome to my world little brother. Must have been the first time you seen that in person huh?...not saying that race played any part in Tyres case. Moral of the story is that when a cop has their mind made up about you, they will ALWAYS find reason to damage you or your name.

I'm so upset by this video of the Memphis 5. That poor young man knew his life was on the line, people know it instinctually. He probably ran thinking he could at least make it home. I pray that these 5 are held accountable and will get a lot of time to pay for what they did. They ended his young man's life and destroyed his family. It was unnecessary, but these cops wanted blood. My condolences go out to the Nichols family.

I listened and watched his mother's interview with Don Lemon and I was in tears. Just listening to how she described his appearance... His head was the size of a watermelon, his neck was broken.. He was already dead by the time they got to the hospital... The police told his mother she couldn't visit him because he was in custody....the er doctor had to call her and tell his parents to get down to the hospital because he he was in cardiac arrest and had kidney failure.

I looked up the wikipedia on the "Red Dogs" in Atlanta. That special police unit also had officers end up being fired and the city paying money settlements. There are reports that Memphis Chief Davis was connected to that team...makes a person wonder why on Earth she would think she is the right person to implement a special unit.
There is no longer need for police to interact with people for simple moving violations. They can videotape the license plate take a picture and then send a ticket to the residence. Police services need restructuring and tailoring for each community.
Good idea but I think it is more complicated then that. Their is an stop light tickets camera if you heard had a lot of problems, that people complained about, in certain cities. I would imagine if tickets were being sent directly to houses would cause problems.

There actually was a man who tried to intervene and he too was assaulted by the police. He was hit and was bleeding from his mouth. Correction: That was a separate incident with the same Memphis police department, not Tyre Nichols incident. There's no video of any neighbors that tried to intervene.

I can't watch it, I'm from Memphis and this was almost my eldest son in the Tulane Apts some years ago before they shut them down. Thank GOD for the community that stood up against the brutatity treatment towards my son. I am a mother of 3 grown children, 2 boys and 1 girl & by the GRACE OF "TMH" they are still here & standing! My heart breaks to know that no one cares about the living nor the dead ! I pray that JUDGEMENT & JUSTICE be served to everyone involved. Condolences to the mother & the family because I felt hopeless when I saw my son clothes torn off of him & pepper spray for absolutely nothing! And YES, these officers were BLACK(a woman & a male), & were very disrespectful & told me that he was GROWN & to back up off of the squad car, all because he didn't have a shirt on ,while he was only sitting outside of his sister's apartment, with family members ! And he complied and put on a shirt and was getting reading to take his friend home & they snatched him out the car, & tore his shirt off of him, the woman officer took out the Billy club to beat him with it, but the community stepped in, some even drove to the precinct and brought back the Lt. But this has got to STOP because it going to be a bloody mess if it doesn't, WE ARE TIRED OF IT & NOT GOING TO KEEP ALLOWING IT !

This is heartbreaking, when is this going to stop. A lot of these officers are fueled by narcissist behavior. In my case it's a brotherhood get me back situation. The white officer needs to be arrested also. What I've endured at age 68 as a black female in Tulsa Oklahoma trusting God, and believing the harassment, stalking, and death threats stop from Eddie Jamison and his girlfriend. I've reported this to internal affairs for years here in Tulsa and it doesn't stop.

All of this reminds me of a day in 1995 in Greenville SC when I was in court with a man who had stitches across his face and his head was bandaged up. He told the judge he ran and he decided to stop, at which time the officers cuffed him and then beat him. The judge told him, since he ran, the cops had the right to do whatever when they caught him, he told the judge if he had anymore altercations with police the beating won't be one sided from now on and the judge charged him with contempt of court and tried to charge him with threatening the life of peace officers!! This whole system is bullshit and I put that on everything!!

When I got pulled over, the cop asked for my ID, I was driving. The other cop went to my brother's window and shined the light in his face and told him to get out of the car. My brother said, I have my ID. The cop opened his door and pulled him out of the car. They handcuffed him, patted him down and let him go. Mind you, they never asked me for proof of insurance, registration, and never asked me to get out of the car and I also received no ticket or warning...I was heart broken for my brother. I didn't know what to say when he got back in the car. He acted as unphased as anyone could act so I asked him if he was OK. He said, welcome to my world little brother. Must have been the first time you seen that in person huh?...not saying that race played any part in Tyres case. Moral of the story is that when a cop has their mind made up about you, they will ALWAYS find reason to damage you or your name.

I'm so upset by this video of the Memphis 5. That poor young man knew his life was on the line, people know it instinctually. He probably ran thinking he could at least make it home. I pray that these 5 are held accountable and will get a lot of time to pay for what they did. They ended his young man's life and destroyed his family. I listened and watched his mother's interview with Don Lemon and I was in tears. Just listening to how she described his appearance... His head was the size of a watermelon, his neck was broken.. He was already dead by the time they got to the hospital... The police told his mother she couldn't visit him because he was in custody....the er doctor had to call her and tell his parents to get down to the hospital because he he was in cardiac arrest and had kidney failure.

I looked up the wikipedia on the "Red Dogs" in Atlanta. That special police unit also had officers end up being fired and the city paying money settlements. There are reports that Memphis Chief Davis was connected to that team...makes a person wonder why on Earth she would think she is the right person to implement a special unit.

There is no longer need for police to interact with people for simple moving violations. They can videotape the license plate take a picture and then send a ticket to the residence. Police services need restructuring and tailoring for each community.
Good idea but I think it is more complicated then that. Their is an stop light tickets camera if you heard had a lot of problems, that people complained about, in certain cities. I would imagine if tickets were being sent directly to houses would cause problems.

There actually was a man who tried to intervene and he too was assaulted by the police. He was hit and was bleeding from his mouth.
Correction: That was a separate incident with the same Memphis police department, not Tyre Nichols incident. There's no video of any neighbors that tried to intervene.

Thank GOD for the community that stood up against the brutatity treatment towards my son. I am a mother of 3 grown children, 2 boys and 1 girl & by the GRACE OF "TMH" they are still here & standing! My heart breaks to know that no one cares about the living nor the dead ! I pray that JUDGEMENT & JUSTICE be served to everyone involved. Condolences to the mother & the family because I felt hopeless when I saw my son clothes torn off of him & pepper spray for absolutely nothing! And YES, these officers were BLACK(a woman & a male), & were very disrespectful & told me that he was GROWN & to back up off of the squad car, all because he didn't have a shirt on ,while he was only sitting outside of his sister's apartment, with family members ! And he complied and put on a shirt and was getting reading to take his friend home & they snatched him out the car, & tore his shirt off of him, the woman officer took out the Billy club to beat him with it, but the community stepped in, some even drove to the precinct and brought back the Lt. But this has got to STOP because it going to be a bloody mess if it doesn't, WE ARE TIRED OF IT & NOT GOING TO KEEP ALLOWING IT !

This is heartbreaking, when is this going to stop. A lot of these officers are fueled by narcissist behavior. In my case it's a brotherhood get me back situation. The white officer needs to be arrested also. What I've endured at age 68 as a black female in Tulsa Oklahoma trusting God, and believing the harassment, stalking, and death threats stop from Eddie Jamison and his girlfriend. I've reported this to internal affairs for years here in Tulsa and it doesn't stop.

All of this reminds me of a day in 1995 in Greenville SC when I was in court with a man who had stitches across his face and his head was bandaged up. He told the judge he ran and he decided to stop, at which time the officers cuffed him and then beat him. The judge told him, since he ran, the cops had the right to do whatever when they caught him, he told the judge if he had anymore altercations with police the beating won't be one sided from now on and the judge charged him with contempt of court and tried to charge him with threatening the life of peace officers!! This whole system is bullshit and I put that on everything!!
I’m so glad he said it! Took them 20 days when it was 5 black officers but took years when it was white officers, paid leave, etc. This entire situation is sad man...

Who are 'they'? It's best not to repeat unsubstantiated stories. They spread like wildfire and people end up stating rumours as fact. However, even if there were truth to this, which is doubtful, it would be no excuse for murdering this man.

I had, as a 42 year old man. A tough man. I had something happen to me that a FRIEND of mine did. It traumatized me. And im 42. Ive been jumped, sliced w razors, had cocked guns to my head, Alot. Im just getting overwhelmed w the violence and hatred and rap music, and awful social media chatter. We are not GOOD black people. We just not. Im getting depressed. We just not good man. I been teary eyed all day
That video broke my heart, I couldn't watch it all the way. God bless Tyre Nichols and his family. Then to hear the officers bragging and lying it was awful.

I agree with you Becuase let’s think about it. For 3 days she was talking about the tape to prep everyone for why they was going to see. Soo tell me how you don’t see the white hand and other officers that was involved not only that the people who didn’t held up to their oath to vender aid. How you didn’t state you want all of them fired. Why did it take people to watch the video to tell you what they seen and who was involved come on now. When you watch a tape the is a crime you study it and look for ever clue. Come on

Can’t hardly watch this video all the way thru. This is so heartbreaking. I didn’t realize how close he was to his mother’s house. I wish he could have drove his car to his mother’s house and just laid on the car horn for his family to come out of the house. I know those officers have families as well. This needs to stop all across America.
