Love Letter to Boston

Pinch myself once, count my blessings twice.
In 2020, I went through 3 laptops. In 2021, one of my external hard drives failed. As annoying as installing and re-installing software across devices was, my greatest insecurity was losing photos and videos, precious data that proved that the people and places I thought were too good to be true were in fact so. very. real.
By the mercy of the Big Guy Upstairs and the generous help of DataRecoveryGuru (s/o to Petri!), many of the videos and photos that I didn't have extra copies of were rescued. I had evidence to prove to myself that my two short years in Boston weren't a figment of my imagination.
This project has undergone several iterations, and I've landed on this imperfect-but-near-to-my-heart hodge-podge of photos and videos. What I choose to remember as I move away matters, and more than anything, I want to preserve the raw, overwhelming gratitude I feel. The Bostonians prepared a seat for me before I arrived. They showed me that hospitality begins where self-preservation ends, and they reminded me I didn’t have to find a golden ticket to feel special. There was gold within all along.
This tribute honors the people and places that have left me far better than when they first met me. I'm thrilled to have tangible evidence to remember them by, but deep down, I know I'd be okay if all of my devices failed me again (...knock on wood). I don't really need these files to prove they've shaped me. I wear them in my skin; they color how I see. I'm so thankful for you, Boston, and will do all I can to pay forward everything you've extended to me by being a neighbor and pursuing a neighborhood wherever my feet are led to next.
