Just rewatched this compilation video... Honestly, this has got to be the best off road video of a T30 X Trail going through its paces on CZcams !
Cheers mate 👍
I've had 2 X-Trails: First one manual/petrol was so surprised with its off road ability. We went off road with a Suzuki swift and a Rav 4 and our car (x-trail) was the only one to make it all the way. My current vehicle is 2009 Diesel/manual and it is fantastic. A lot of people don't realise how good it is off road
Nice video. I have an Xtrail T30 with a 2.0 petrol engine. I've been driving it on a tourist off-road for 6 years. Now I have a V8 jeep for offroad, but the Xtrail stayed as a car for everyday driving. They are very good and durable cars. Greetings from Poland
Pelna zgoda;]]
Many people dont know, but the xtrail t30 is seriously capable off roader. Superior on beach...took mine one 2 times on fraser island..never bogged..love it
Correct 👍
Have been driving t30 diesel for 8 years. I know how capable it is off road. But damn, did I know how sexy it looks in a video?
No comments no unnecessary music just you and the magnificent X-Trail. One of the best suvs of nissan after the patrol. Shame the x-trail nameplate is now stuck on some boring looking suv that will never go off road
Best compilation I've seen of the T30. I bought mine new in 2007 and have pushed to its limits ( mostly in auto) Still enjoy driving it every day. Parts are all original and will keep vehicle as long as possible.
Great vehicles. Mine is a 2007 too.
Great video putting the xtrail through some tough tracks instead of how the kids fit in the back or how the cup holders work. Great work.
I've had a 4 x trails since 2010. The T30 I use and abuse is great. But I will say I increased the ride height by 75mm and put off road wheels and tyres and full size belly protector on it. Apart from that it's pretty standard.
How did you lift it, any trouble with the CVS since you lifted it?
35mm ironman springs. I have a video of all mods in my MODs playlist. Never had issues with cv
@@ruggedlife thanks.
this is a legend car i love it
I bought a t31 2012 model two months ago. I'm glad I saw your video and now know what my xtrail is capable of!
really impressive offroad performance for a SUV. even with budget AT tires! driver experience is clearly visible.
Cheers. You should watch the 'Ultimate compilation' I created 🙂
This video is a masterpiece! It proves so well just how amazing this car is! My dad has one and now I need one for myself!
Cheers. You should check out the Ultimate compilation I've recently done.
The last clip was excellent.. U did it in no time..
Awesome. I love mine as well. They just keep on going. Great video. Cheers.
So under rated these rigs 👌
Hmm... This vehicle wasn't on my radar. This makes a great budget Overland vehicle
For sure
@@ruggedlife I'm currently converting a Porsche Cayenne to an Overland vehicle here in Germany.
Nice. Goodluck 👍
I took my T31 Xtrail along Old Grandchester Rd yesterday on stock suv tyres and no lift. It did surprisingly well.
I followed my brother in his lifted patrol and managed almost everything the patrol went through. There was only one part I didn’t try and I took the easier track.
Oh yea youll be very surprised where it can take you.
It’s almost like driving my Sierra when I first started driving nearly 30 years ago
You got pretty keen on the last obstacle 😂
We were trying to get it stuck for a video I was making but it refused to 🤣
I really wish that i had seen videos like yours 3 years ago. I had needed a 4x4 and thought the xtrail with no low range not capable. Due to back problems i have had to give up my current vehicle and have bought a 2013 2.0 dci 4x4 auto. I looked around for videos to see what it is capable of. You are actually going through worse terrain than i ever went through with my low range capable vehicle. You have a new subscriber.
Cheers matey. People don't realise how capable a vehicle really is. All the best mate 👍
have a T30 4x4 petrol here in Indonesia, but unfortunately its hard to find slow moving parts, even for aftermarket
I hope my 2023 e4force copes with the muddy ruts this winter - I will be testing it out over the summer to see what it can cope with in the dry weather
Good luck, enjoy and stay safe 👍
@@ruggedlife cheers picking it up in 5 hours! I dont mind if the road tires get slashed to bits on the flint rocks that underpin my offroad trails as I have free tires included in my contract!!!! I will get the drone up to do a video of it in action soon
X-trail的越野能力看起來相當好
Nice video. Also own a T30 (manual transmission; 2008; beige), as of a few weeks. Live in Nairobi, and have taken it to our National Park, here. Good off-roading in that park actually!
Want to ask you if you plan on modifying your current firm mud guards for more flexible alternatives? A few good axle testers, or steep drops could cause some damage. Something I'm considering myself.
I see someone already asked my question on tyre pressure, below.
Thank you for this video!
Thanks. These vehicles are under rated. I don't plan to modify the mud guards as they don't rub on full articulation which is very limited on this vehicle anyway.
Love my T30.
These are surprisingly good off-roaders. Might need to trade in my mx5 for a nice diesel manual one 😂😂
great skills love your vids always so well explained the sound is awesome also.
Good off roading 👍. X trail is capable.
That's a good demo I have an 2008 2litre diesel 6spead great vehicles, enjoy watching your shows.
Cheers mate 👍
Very good car. I have a xtrail 2.2 dci. It is 18 years Old and has made over 266000 km until now. 😆😆😆
Good Video!
Cheers mate 👍 X-trails are great!
Great driving skills,
Sooo, I am definitely sure for X trail as my daily car, currently I am searching to buy one and get rid of mine merc c class, btw good videos, keep it up bro ✌️
Ah yes the X-Trail's Natural Habitat
Awesome dudeee!! I'll enjoy so much my T30 🇲🇽
Nicely done. You're driving o 2WD ? Can't see all wheels spinning at same time.
Waiting for the next video.
4x4 mate. No way a 2wd can do that 😀
Brilliant video I carnt wait to get mine back on the road. I won't be doing nothing like the driving where you are in the world but I was wondering what mods you have fitted to your truck
Cheers mate. Have a look at my playlists. There's one called MODs. It's all in there 👍
OK thanks alot
@levymoon7769 No worries mate
Exelente. Video tengo. Una. De. Esas. 💪💪😎

Wow! good video, I love the T30
Hello! You probably have the best offroad video channel on Nissan x-trail t30! I used to ride an x-trail T30 with a diesel engine for 2 years, and now I have been driving for almost 4 years with a 2.5 petrol and an automatic transmission. We love these Nissan with my wife. Both of us are equipped with headlights on the roof. At what pressure in the wheels do you drive off-road?
Thanks mate. They are good cars. I run about 22-24psi on rough terrain and anywhere between 14-18psi on sand and mud. I have a video about tyre pressures in my channel. Check that out.
@@ruggedlife Ok, thank you! I will definitely see!👍
Excelent video and x-trail
Great video..I love my X Trail
Hi
Great example of the capability of the xtrail.
Am looking at a 2010 xtrail diesel 20GT auto and struggling to find any info on the transmission.
Does it have a CVT?
Cheers
Amazing driver!
Amazing!
Nice work mate!
Cheers 👍
amazing channel!
would you recommend Auto or manual T30? i'm afraid that with AT 1st gear reduction is way too small ( 2.785 * 4.425 = 12.32 )
also i consider buying an auto locker for the rear axle but i'm not sure if they make it for the auto. (different rear diff)
I would go auto. I have a video in my Practical 4wding playlist called 'Auto is best if you don't have low range'. Link here czcams.com/video/yHW5pZxh8NQ/video.htmlsi=ezxXq7xuOWKdvCW6
Auto gear ratio is always lower (higher). It is a torque multiplier so don't worry about that. Not sure about the different rear diff for the auto. As far as I know they are the same so you should be able to get the locker.
@@ruggedlife appreciate your answer! Consider installing a locker, it could expand your cars capabilities and your channel! They are quite inexpensive in ebay.
@@NickAlepoudellis No worries. I have thought about a locker but it will be around $600-700AUD by the time I get it. I will definitely get one if I can afford it.
Which Mode is the best for a bit-long such as 2-3 km continuous uphill driving?
Probably depending on surface, traction and there are ruts etc. But, I personally just leave it in 4wd auto. Almost all my 4wding are done in 4wd auto.
Awesome clips, Hi Iam from Dubai, also own 2009 model , please let me know the tyre size and the modification details
Cheers. Have a look at the playlist section in my channel. All mods are in the MODs playlist.
Can it be used with Enduro?
Level..1-5 ?
I've always wanted to drive from South Africa to the UK and I've been looking into vehicles.. notably bakkie/ute of some sort...though I think this could be a cheaper alternative as I don't plan on going crazy off reading. Just wondering what storage is like as we'll need 3 seats.
Yes this would be a great option. Storage is huge for the type of car. I'm pretty sure it is one of the biggest in its class.
Large boot, can individually fold down flat each side of the rear seat. So very flexible and practical.
Very nice 👌
Last week am also brought 2012 model in uae
Nice video mate. Looking at T31 diesel manual. What do you think of it? I am a newbie on 4wd scene but quite keen.
I've heard good feedback about the diesels. I would personally choose auto over manual if taking vehicles like these offroad. I have a video about that if you haven't seen that yet.
Nice work, would love to know where you filmed this..need some good trails North side of Brisbane😁
Cheers mate. Old granchester road laidley
09:52 My My Gersh! The 😯
I've been researching cars like this for about 3 weeks now, high and f'in low lol. I got down to the Rav4 mk2 and Freelander 2 with my small around £3k budget. I hadn't even considered an xtrail until yesterday, I wasn't feeling very positive because everything I'd looked at has common experience negatives, like the Freelander 2 having dif bearings issues and Haldex issues if you say boo to it and the Rav4 Diesel with its hot start issues.
Anyway, so far after about 6 hours looking into, xtrails....... Nothing........ NOTHING! Is that your experience with yours other than general wear and tear items obviously? It can even off road better than what I've seen a Freelander 2 do. The xtrail appears to be a proper 4x4 without being a proper 4x4, so capable!
Is there a good owners forum for the xtrail?
Thank you for the video, subscribed, how could I not! 👍😁
Cheers mate. The great thing about Xtrails is the fact that they are one of the most capable softroaders IMO. They are very practical, generally reliable assuming they have been looked after (just like any vehicle) and just a great all around performer. There are a few xtrail fb groups out there.
I have lots of videos in my channel if you havent seen them yet.
@@ruggedlife Thanks mate. Yes I'm going through your videos right now, my Saturday is all yours now lol. I'm actually excited, I've not been this excited about a car since I bought a Celica GT-Four back in 2011! I currently have an LDV Convoy which I've lived in for the last 4 years with my daughter after I got divorced (ex wife was an absolute c**t to both of us), we now live on a dairy farm in a static caravan, not great still but we have lots more room. I won't miss my Convoy, horrible things to drive, like seriously horrible, unsafe feeling type horrible lol!
No worries mate. I can definitely recommend the xtrail. Have a look, do more research and if you think it is fit for your purpose then go for it.
All the best mate 👍
Good stuff. Did the T30's leave the factories with a bash plate fitted or is it a mod ? I have a T30 , bit not sure mine has a bash plate or just a bit of light tin underneath !
It's a mod. I have a video about it in my MODs playlist.
Hi, great video. Do you know how deep the x-trail can wade. Do you have diff breather extensions?
On paper not sure but it wont be much at all. Yes i have. Check my MODs playlist. I have all my mods in there
U R Osssom driver
Very nice to watch
Cheers mate. Glad you enjoyed
👍🏼 just wondering, any reasons the xtrail should not be driving around on Fraser Island. Eg. Where it can’t go, areas/trails? Soft sand problems?
It can drive into most places mate. Have a look at my fraser island review and my practical 4wding videos. There are info about sand driving etc.
How does she go over severe corrugations? Tool my exes 2020 Rav 4 down Jim Falls road last year and had to turn around a few hundred meters in cause I reckon it may have fallen to bits if wr continued. And the suspension, just didn't feel capable. Is it a fair comparison?
I haven't taken it to severe corrugations and I wouldn't that's when you need a 4wd with suspension more designed to cope with such terrain. Any softroader isn't designed for severe corrugations. It might take it but it won't last long.
@@ruggedlife thanks for your response. Good to know. Do you reckon aftermarket suspension would sort that or hard to know? Impressed with how capable she is.
@@bravohotel it will help but I'm sure it won't put up well with severe corrugations. It's just not heavy duty enough.
@@ruggedlife cheers 👍🏻
Holy shittttt mann what a great video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Cheers mate 🤙
is there any secret/ modification you have to do to these cars to make em work on the soft sand wheel ruts on some of the roads? went to bribey today and the bloody thing got bogged instantly when we hit the soft stuff, deflated the wheels, kept it in 4 wheel drive mode, still got bogged. but it seems that everyone keeps saying they can do it, so is there something we are missing here? thank you in advance
Air down to 14-16psi in soft sand and maintain momentum. As long as you dont get hung up then you should be ok.
i love it :)
I use Xtrail T30 too with a 235/70 R16 tire profile why is it stuck in my car .. ?? whether your car stuck too .. ??
Explation please🙏
You mean it rubs in full steering lock?
What are your thouhts on Nissan X-trail t30 - 2002 year 2.2DCI 84KW ?
Is it much different from yours? Any suggestions?
(I'm thinking of getting one :) )
Theyre pretty much the same as mine. Well, that's a diesel but everything else is the same. I would choose that instead of the 2.5 petrol if it was available in Australia.
I have recently bought a 2012 4WD. I know nothing about 4x4 but came across your channel and now really trilled that with a few mods I could finally go and try some off roading. What would be your recommendation for a newbie?? look at getting new tyres and springs?? by the way mine is CVT will that be an issue with going off road??
Tyres and lift make a huge difference. CVTs dont perform well offroad is what i heard. They are not reliable enough and they are more engineered for efficiency and comfort. It doesnt really mean it wont perform offroad though. Ive also see a lot of CVTs go offroad and they are fine. I guess it all depends of how rough terrain and how you drive it as well.
@@ruggedlife thanks for replying
Are nissans any good it looks really good? I like the video nicely done. I always stick to toyotas or hondas generally for reliability but the x trail looks really robust for a small 4x4 /suv it's very impressive.
They are. Assuming they have been looked after, just like any vehicle. You'll see a lot of them with high mileage and still going.
I see quite a lot of them here in the UK but never given them much thought until now I may have been converted 👍
Yes there's a lot in the UK. Try to join the Facebook groups to get a better insight. I'm a member of most of them and an admin of 2.
Thanks very much I will do that.
No worries
Hi mate I love your videos
I am looking to downsize my Land Rover discovery 2 td5 auto to an xtrail as I don’t use the disco off-road enough to justify the maintenance and repair costs.
Would you recommend a t30 or t31? And of those, which engine and transmission combination is best? I don’t like cvts very much, and I tow a 1.3T camper trailer sometimes.
Your input would be much appreciated
Cheers
Hey mate, personally I would pick the T30 but that's just me. I feel it's more solid and looks better too. It also has less technology in it so less to go wrong. I know the T31 has got stuff like hill decent etc but personally, driving technique will get me just about anywhere the T31 will go. I'm old school and don't need creature comforts. As you may have seen in a few of my videos, I have a 71' Series 2a 109.
I would rather a diesel with an auto but not sure if you can get that in a T30. Auto because they are better offroad due to the lack of low range gearing. I have a video explaining this if you haven't seen it yet. 1.3T to tow is within the Xtrail's capability.
@@ruggedlife thanks so much mate. T30 is cheaper and I believe it’s auto is not a cvt like the t31, which I hear a lot of issues about
Yes it's auto 👍
Loving the videos bro, been subbed for a minute! Am just realizing that we didn't get any new XTRAILS after 2006 :/ Would really love a T31 or even just to try an 07 T30 like yours.
Yea I reckon the T30 and T31 are the most capable Xtrails.
@@ruggedlife I have an 06 but I just feel its TOO old. Its obviously very similar to yours but one year could make a difference. Im looking at buying another 2006 trail with only 146K Kms on it. Mine needs too much work, runs amazing but it wont pass safety without new shoes or windshield and the windshield bezel has rusted quite a bit and I doubt a shop will install a new windshield on a rusted bezel/surround
Ive seen some people buy another Xtrail and keep the old one for parts. That could be an option assuming you have space for it. Otherwise, sell the old one cheap and put money towards the new one
@@ruggedlife Remember that the Renault Koleos 4WD is an X Trail underneath so there's good shopping to be done if you widen your search.
@@68404 Correct. Also known as the Renault Duster which has a limited slip diff option. There is also an aftermarket diff lock in Russia.
Thello, are the suspension of the Nissan X-TRAI original or enhanced? thank you

It's upgraded. I have a video in my MODs playlist.
Yo tengo una 2005 y le activo con el boton y prende en el tablero pero se parina y parpadea una luz luego se apaga la luz pero no escucho que active
Sounds like something is faulty. Best to get mechanic to check that.
Fantastic clips! I was looking at a post 2008 X-Trail which looks like it has issues with the CVT for petrol autos. What are your thoughts on the 6 speed diesel vs manual to avoid this?
Avoid the CVT. Either the standard auto or manual are good options.
What models have standard autos
Are they good for towing a dirtbike?
Yup I can't see why not. Lots of people use it for towing caravans.
Hey mate, I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Prior to watching this video, I wasn't sure whether Xtrail was capable of driving on these conditions. What sort of tyre did you get? I was looking to buy proper 4WD tyre but no luck as a tyre shop can't get in a standard factory size. Is the 2011 CVT capable of driving on these conditions? Cheers
Cheers mate. You can get 215 65 16 AT tyres im sure. CVT will do it but i dont think it will last long.
I have Goodride sl369 AT tyres. I have a video under my MODs playlist section
Interesting 👍
does your xtrail have esp? i am going to get one next saturday, was wondering how good the esp system works offroad
No it doesn't it helps but never close to a locking differential.

G'day m8. I own a 2011 Captiva Diesel Turbo LX. It has T.C and HDC. Do you think it would be as capable as an X trail? It doesn't have a CD Lock but have an actuator wired in is on the agenda
Hey mate. Any vehicle which has the ability to send power to any of its 4 wheels will have some sort of offroad capability. Its major limiting factor will always be its 4wd system and ground clearance. Im not familiar with the Captiva's 4wd system so cannot tell you how capable offroad it will be. One thing I know though is that your ground clearance will definitely be your limiting factor just like most SUVs. Try to find out if there are raised suspension options for your vehicle.
Hi, thanks for such a quick response. It has a similar ground clearance and 4wd system to the Xtrail minus the "Lock" function. It's already sitting on a set of 235 55 19s which are 29". There are some lifted springs available but these are very limited.
No worries. Your tyre diameter is same as mine but your rim size is too big for 4wding. That lock function will make a huge difference. As for lift options then just get the highest you can get. Im assuming that will only be around 25-30mm.
sweet video man! what lift kit you use?
Cheers. Ironman 35mm springs and kyb shocks. I have a video of that. Go to my 'MODs' playlist.
@@ruggedlife yeah, i already watched it and subed.. :)

Thank you very much
Francesco
Have a look at the videos in my offroad compilations and also the practical 4wding playlist. It will give you an idea of what it's capable of. If you want slow and controlled on rocks, get an auto.
Did notice a difference in handling and fuel economy when you changed to all terrain tyres?
Fuel consumption definitely as expected with bigger tyres. Not really with handling but my springs and struts are stiffer than oem.
I’m running Bridgestone duellers 215, 70, 16’s
Yup thats a good size im going to next
Are u driving in auto mode the whole time or lock?
Some auto some lock especially on very uneven spots. Mostly auto though.
Has this one got traction control?
No it doesn't

@@ruggedlife why you suggest avoid CVT? Im interesed to get a xtrail 2006 2.5 CVTC automatic (not diesel), it is a problem?
Those CVTs are not designed for offroad or towing. They are for efficiency and comfort. Not saying that all CVTs that tow and go offroad will fail but the risk is higher and have heard and read a lot that failed.
