- Air fryer, air conditioner, thermomix, induction cook top, kettle and microwave. When off grid, what appliances use the most power? It might surprise you! This little video we did with Dave, the national sales manager for @Enerdrive - Driving Your Energy Needs , will help you understand what type of system is needed to run certain appliances while off grid.

15:13 Using multiple appliances at once in Caravan on 12v Enerdrive system
That experiment showed that the kettle needs to be put in the BIN. Use the induction stove to heat water for you tea. Well done thank you
Haha … great idea! 😆
Thanks for your video. Great info. We’ve recently had an Enerdrive system installed and still learning about what we can do. One thing that occurred to me is that as we generally have our main meal for lunch each day, that’s when I’d be using the airfryer etc, and have the benefit of the solar replenishing battery during the afternoon. This means we wouldn’t have as much a worry about whether we could run the air con for a little while to cool down the motorhome before we try and sleep.
You’re very welcome, and thanks for commenting! Good luck with your new system - they’re incredible! 🤗
Awesome advice thanks for showing me how it works 💪
Will use it on my vehicle setup
Greetings from south africa 🇿🇦 😀
Thanks Yusuf! 😁😁😁
It’s so beautiful It’s so red thanks for sharing another amazing place
Thank you! 😁🙏🏼
Love all your info guys.
Thanks Geoff!
Keep up the good work.
Not sure if its possible to monitor with the solar but what sort of power do the everyday appliances in your van used over a day.
(Ie. Lights, fridge, USB charging etc )
Thanks for sharing that information I am looking at getting a van so that was a great insight into the power usage cheers 🍻
You’re welcome 😁
Thank you this has been a good review on what the battery system can do if it’s big enough, so I can’t wait for the enerdrive draw.
Thanks John!! 😁😁🙏🏼
Loved this video
Thanks! 😁🙏🏼
Great video guys! 👍
Thanks! 😁🙏🏼
I should have seen this video before trying to use the kettle and microwave the other day 😂. I’m a tea drinker so no coffee machine in our van. This is a great little video - and as I’m an airfryer fan, its good to know what happens when I use it 😊.
Oh dear - I also learned that the hard way with the induction on too high and air fryer 😅
I off grid occasionally.
When the power falls more than it should.
As they say Betta Getta Honda.
I ❤️ my Honda : )
Lol. Lots of neighbours don’t like Hondas 😆😆😆
Good honest review, the Facts and no Bull-shit it’s not magic it’s management of what you have to what you can do 👍
Thanks Paul. 😁🙏🏼
As a barista myself a tip.... Extract your espresso ontop of the hot water rather than adding hot water after, this will help you preserve the crema and produce a better over all coffee.
Thanks for the tip!! 😁🙏🏼
Interested to know what amps you guys have seen from your air con on those really hot days. I have the Harrier Lite and have seen as high as 170 amps for the first hour or so before it starts to ramp down. Is this your experience as well?
No, ours only draws high amps (like 90) for a short period of time then it drops back then fluctuates. The Harrier plus is the best air con we’ve had yet.
For cups of tea we just use the coffee machine to get a cups worth. No need to also have a kettle
Good thinking! ☕️
Yes we’re the same. No room for that ugly kettle.
Some people don’t have coffee machines - so we have to allow for them as well 😁 Also, when I boiled water it’s usually a full kettle for when I make rice in the thermomix or a full litre for when I brew kombucha ever 5 or so days. Can’t do that in a coffee machine 🤪
Good video. What's your average power consumption of a late afternoon till morning? Id be interested to see what you get down to (SOC) once the sun has gone down and you don't have solar coming in.
It really depends on the time of year and where in Australia we are. Generally we are at 100% SOC every afternoon. On average we sit between 85 and 90% when we get up in the morning
Thanks for the video. How does you fridge power?? Just 12v ?? And run forever??
Hey Wayne…yeah it’s only a 2 way fridge 12/240v. On average it uses about 5ah.
Great video 👍🏻 hoping you can help, we’re having trouble with our Safiery induction. We have Enerdrive 2600w inverter (400amp batteries and 680w solar). The front hot plate is faulty (trying to get that sorted) but when we run back hot plate even at 7 at around 1600w output our inverter keeps tripping :-/ any ideas??
Oh - can’t help with that I’m sorry. Maybe try running it at 3? We usually run ours at 3. But it doesn’t cut out when it’s higher. Hmm. Maybe the entire cooktop is faulty? 🤔
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown thanks so much for the reply 😊 yes now we only try to go up to 6 to boil water on the back plate, but if we do try go up any higher it trips, so I guess we will keep trying to follow up with Safiery, happy travels 👍🏻
I’d be following up for sure 👍🏼😁
Hi Helen Hunter
I would love to know how you rate for power setup ….we are thinking of the same system in our van ….
Cheers
Jeremy
Can I ask how many batteries you have in total and total v or watts and how much solar panels draw in total as researching before we get a van
Hey…we have 600amps and 1.45kw of Solar (8 panels)
Hello just wanted to know what time this experiment was done during the day?... and what does your battery get down to overnight?....we have 600 amps of lithium battery with a 2600 inverter and some days our battery is down to 45 and as low as 35% overnight only running fridge (dometic 224litre fridge) we would typically go to bed with no less than 85% battery.
Hi Kim, how much solar do you have on the roof? Can you replenish it back to 100% everyday?
@@AussieDestinationsUnknown we have 780 of solar on the roof and a solar blanket and can get back up to 100% .... just more wondering if it was normal to get down to that level overnight and if running if further down to 20% each day is ok before the sun is fully up to charge the battery system again.
Your coffee machine will do better hot water for tea. Perfect temperature unlike a kettle
I use the kettle mainly for kombucha when I brew 1 litre of tea 🙌🏼
How does your hws go on your setup?
The diesel hot water / heating is amazing
Whaaaat no coffee Shes not a keeper ( only joking ) Liked great info
🤣🤣🤣
How much power does your compressor fridge use
On average 3 to 5 amps an hour
That’s all great with a van with a solar farm on the roof and enough lithium to run a small town… What about running the same appliances with say 400 amp hours of lithium and 700 watts of solar.
That was like the power system in our old van. 720 of solar on the roof. We did a similar video explaining that system as well. You definitely can’t run appliances the same way when you don’t have the capacity to store and replenish power. You can check that video out here 😁 czcams.com/video/uAO1OFuRIEw/video.html&feature=share&si=EMSIkaIECMiOmarE6JChQQ
how much power does the microwave use?
On average the microwave uses around 110amps
Has Dave moved in with you guys 😂
Pretty much our main stalker 😆
😂😂😂

Chris needs a haircut.......... and a cowboy hat.
