- Part one of our three part web series - A Sherlock Holmes gender-bent college AU!
Jane Watson is stuck. She's dropped out of med school to come back to a city she has no idea how to navigate. She's broke, alone, and totally screwed. Plus, her new roommate might be insane.
I loved the first episode! I just wanted to say that in the audio mixing try to make sure that the music doesn't overwhelm the dialogue. You can bring down the music during dialogue and bring it up subtly during long silences or montage-y stuff.
I only mention it because the dialogue was hard to hear at a few points and its definitely more important than the music :D
Can't wait for episode 2!

We've been in discussion, and we are going to try and fiddle with the mix for this episode, however, any adjustments to it will be made after we've launched two and three, simply for time issues (we all have day jobs!). While I don't agree with all the characterization thus far, but this is adorable and I love it.
Cobalt Carousel That's fair! And to be honest, as we progress in the series, we hope to come closer and closer to canon. Of course, part of the fun, and what we were interested in examining is how those essential, and identifiable characterizations can be found/learned/created in a totally different context from the original source! (No Anglo-Afghan war! No subclavian steal! No retreat to Peshawar! How do you give a young, untried, privileged girl the fish-out-of-water-but-still-essentially-hopeful-if-a-bit-damaged demeanour of Watson, without also erasing the little bit of canonical history we have of that time?)
So don't worry - we totally struggled with it to! Thank you SO much for giving it a chance, and loving it anyway! :)

OMG Why doesn't this have tons of views? It's perfect! The representations of Holmes and Watson are so so good, the story is compelling and the Vlog thing is totally believable. Congratulations to the girls and the crew for making this superb version of SH. I can't wait for ep 2!!

And absolutely great suggestion about the audio - we're touching up episodes 2&3 in an effort to make sure the levels are balanced enough to support the dialogue in the most optimal way. With it being so quick as well, captions are a great idea. We'll definitely look into that, and we'll probably release the scripts on tumblr at some point in the next couple weeks, and we'll try to get captions going! Thank you!

You have effectively proven that a girl can play the part of one of the most iconic characters in all of literature You nailed it with Holme's personality. Other than that, don't forget that Holmes is also a boxer & a fencer. What were your original plans for this?
@@erickvoshel1 We would have loved to have done more episodes! However, we just couldn't make it work with union regulations and the like. Definitely wish it could have worked out. The second season was all written and really fun. As for fencing, well, we actually do know long sword so it would have been fun including that! Re: translations - Wow! We'd love to! I'm not entirely sure we know anyone who speaks Spanish, however, so we'll have to go on a bit of a hunt, but of course, we want our fans to get the maximum enjoyment out of our project, and make it accessible to as many people as possible, so yes! We will look into that possibility!

A few things I would do would be to get better audio (it's a bit sketchy) and lighting. But other than that it is absolutely amazing!
Thank you! We're so happy you like it :) And thanks for the concrit - it's always good to hear from our audience, since after a while, we get too close. Audio issues are largely a result of time/budget, but our lovely, lovely editor has worked hard to clean up episodes 2&3 as much as possible, so hopefully you'll notice an improvement there. Lighting? Well, tbh that was as much an aesthetic choice as it was reliant on budget. Our DoP loves natural, low key lighting, so we tried to utilize that as much as possible! Sometimes, things don't always work out, and we're glad to hear what does and doesn't fly! :)

I liked it, but ripping about half the episode from BBC Sherlock kinda turned me off. Not really a big fan of that version :/ Other than that, I'm very excited to see where this goes.
