Last NYC Taxi Ford Escape Hybrid In Service! 9C81 In Traffic

Quick glimpse I got of the last ever NYC taxi Ford Escape Hybrid. Even a couple years ago, these were everywhere as medallion taxis as well as Ubers and such, being so reliable, it was commonplace to see them with 700k+ miles. Now they are down to the last one. Never would think that there would be more Crown Victoria's in service than Escapes!

My aunt had one of these hybrid models. If it weren’t for the rust eating up the rear strut towers she would have kept it forever.

The one licensed 8C96 (2012 model) was replaced 11 days ago so you're right, it's the second last one in service with the one licensed 5D88 (both are 2011 models). Congrats !

And that is it. The last Crown Vic licensed 6D76 was replaced by a RAV-4 on the 7th of april and this ultimate Escape hybrid retired only a week ago on the 16th of may. The End.

Another thing thats cool is the exact power train is whats on the ford maverick hybrid. Its the same 2.5 liter engine with electric motor. They actually just updated the electric motor to make it even more durable.

Hard to believe these will soon be gone. I have a green 2011 with 202,000 on it. Just getting broken in.

The new ford maverick actually uses the same power train. It has the same 2.5 liter engine and its a hybrid. But idk if you can use maverick as taxi though
