the chemistry truly is incredible. they worked with an intimacy coordinator for the show who helped them break the ice and be comfortable and take time with each scene and it paid off cause their scenes are absolutely gorgeous and feel right and real as it would for their ages in the show (16).

The chemistry is just phenomenal between both pairings and I cannot wait to see all 4 of them absolutely smash the upcoming scenes in season 2 because they’re all incredible young actors and the raw emotion they portray is mind-blowing ❤

In school Wilhelm doesn't put much effort into hiding his affection for Simon. He initiated the kiss on the way to the lake and Simon was the one to pull away and look at the bodyguards while Wille was still looking at him. Simon wanted to put a video game on to hide what they were doing, while Wille didn't care. So as Wille he seems fine with being open, but he doesn't want the scrutiny of the Royal Family, the public and the media. With Simon he had found a safe space where he could be just himself and not the Crown Prince and because of the video he is the Crown Prince again, even in his most private moment. Wilhelm can only be a regular teenager in secret otherwise he has to be his country's youth role model, while he's just a 16 year old still struggling with himself and being in love for the first time and loosing his brother, his only emotional support in his family.

The sensual nature of love we all needed to see on screen. I was really devastated to see fake love scenes without sensual touches and kisses. Esp. in American TV, everything is overly-sexualized and soooo fake. The intimacy coordinator with Edvin and Omar did a brilliant work here in this show. Kudos to them💫

I don't think Wilhelm ever wanted or expected Simon to take the fall for the drugs fiasco. He was just completely blindsided by Simon's role in everything and also manipulated by August. He still doesn't know about all the bad stuff August has been up to. We the viewers do but he doesn't. Yeah, he finds August douchey and annoying but for all he knows, he can trust him like a brother, just like Erik said in Ep. 1. So he went into that fight with Simon questioning everything about Simon and their relationship, probably asking himself whether he completely misjudged him and whether Simon was also using him like everyone else in his life. So I understand his frustration and reasons for lashing out and yelling. He shouldn't have put his family above Simon's though...They were both wrong, Simon for bringing the drugs in the first place, Wille for taking them. It's a sh!tty situation overall, esp for poor Alexander.
it was interesting seeing Willies family training. .( dealing is low. well it is but he has never needed money, has he?)and it even better how fast he takes in new information ( from simon..august reneged on a debt ) and acted upon it ( investigating). hes a boy who is capable of learning.
August thought that he could get Wilhelm to throw Simon under the bus to save himself. What I love is that defending Simon against August is what is teaching Wilhelm how to stand up, use his power, and be a royal.
He already is a royal in his entitled behavior. Going to throw another more innocent Alexander under the buss on a whim to keep his lover. And humiliating awful August again to keep his secret boyfriend is another entitled act. We know Wilhelm is a young person part of a terrible system, but it’s reflected in his behaviors. He has potential to be good, but none of his acts in difficult situations have been good. I’ll only give him points for beginning to find his assertiveness.

Wilhelm is not even ready yet to be the Crown Prince after his brother died 4 days ago, he is definitely nowhere near ready to be the first ever openly queer Crown Prince. He had no time to grieve, he and Simon barely know each other, they've literally dated for 3 days and this is all still so new to Wilhelm who struggles with an anxiety disorder anyway. He can't handle this right now, it's too much too early ☹️

So the way I’ve always understood the Lucia scene of Wille and Simon being in the classroom is that Simon is most upset with the fact that Alexander had to take the fall for everything. Simon knows he screwed up by bringing the drugs into the school, and he knows Wille screwed up by taking them. What did Alexander do? He allowed himself to get bossed around by August, but he wasn’t really at fault in any way in this situation. I don’t think that sits well with Simon. Of course he’s relieved he won’t be expelled, but it doesn’t mean he’s OK with someone innocent being blamed either. So that’s why I think he asked, “What do you expect me to say thank you?!” You’re right to predict that most of the next episode is them figuring out how to navigate them being outed. These poor boys have so much on their plates that isn’t really fair. It’s heartbreaking to think that their very first time together was violated like that. But you’re also right that they haven’t talked enough about what their relationship is…where it’s headed…or how they can understand each other and what they’re up against. This show is so great at showing vs. telling…but they absolutely need to sort out a lot. Can’t wait to see you react to the finale episode of S1.
Also the fact that their arguments in the music room showed that Wilhelm can be quite selfish when it comes to the reputation of the monarchy. Simon does not give a shit about the monarchy. The problem is Wilhelm is a part of that monarchy. So they need to understand their circumstances more and more in the future. If not, there will be more problems between the two, because they come from very very different worldviews.
And also, Wilhelm protected Simon because "he did not want to lose" him. This is kinda selfish. They are young, they need to learn things but Wilhelm obviously should think about Simon's environment much more. He needs to understand that he is a privilaged child while Simon literally should fight for his future. He is not privilaged, that is why he gives tons of shit to his grades. He was not satisfied with the result of his math grade (which was C). He wants a better future, to go out of his small town.
Also - Let's not forget Simone gave the drugs to August, who obviously gave them to Alexander to sell rather than get his hands dirty. No doubt he wants to cover for Alexander in case the drug sales come back on him.
@@EmberC He sort of regurgitates to Simon what his mother and family have always told him. Although he's been oppressed by all of their care for appearances and reputation all of his life, he can't help but buy into it unfortunately. I don't think he will in season 2 though. 👍

I guess August doesn't want to sell the art because it was his dad's, but if he really cares about school (and the status he has there) you'd think he'd be willing to part with 1 or 2 art pieces to stay "king of the boarding school". So I don't really get why he didn't do that.
The last episode... I can't wait for you to see it. It's... quite something.
If August sell the estate, he will loose the noble title "of Arnas", he will not be a part of the nobility anymore. he cares for the the status, monarchy and nobility-based societal rules too much. He is also too proud to sell art or other things, which could be in the family possession for several centuries....

The sequence where we switch between seeing the boys in the classroom and then August was freaking stunning cinematography!! The lighting was unreal and the song choice was pure perfection. Just so beautifully done to leverage as much emotion as possible from the viewers and just beautiful and terrifying to watch at the same time.

The way i see it, august doesn't want to sell the arts for two main reasons :
1. because it's his dad's legacy (I think they were really close, or at least closer than the relationship he has with his mom by the way his dad's death has affected him). Thats the main reason i think
2. because in order to be part of the ''society'', one has to possess assets, so selling part of his dad's heritage is just not an option to him, cuz he's very proud

@@leiapedro933 It was Edvin. They go through a scene one time before filming to make sure everything is positioned right. During that, Edvin improvised the question about the fish names and the director decided to go with it and told Omar to improvise names. Edvin suggested the band members' names. During the filming of the scene though Omar felt uncomfortable using their actual names so he decided to tweak them to make it less obvious, that's why he's basically making them up during the scene. Edvin and Omar talked about that in a livechat they did for Netflix last year.

August is all about status and pride (not in a good sense). In fact, he could continue attending the school without even selling anything, because tuition is free in Sweden. It's boarding that costs a hella lot of money he can't pay for. But then he would turn into a non-boarder he despises so much, lose his place in the society circle and the ability to boss around and control everyone. I have no pity for him.

So from what I understand August is a Royal by blood through his Father, who passed down to August an Estate (named Arnas.) It is only through this Estate that August maintains his royal title. I can't remember if it's Lord or Duke or Earl or who knows. If he sells any part of the Estate, he loses his title (sure he'll still be a royal, but only in the sense that he's a distant branch on the family tree.) Titles of Nobility are everything to people like August. So he refuses to sell any part of the Arnas Estate because his self worth is wrapped up in the title that accompanies it.
That’s not true at all- he could easily sell some of the artwork housed on the estate without losing any of the estate or title itself

The wake up moment is incredibly intimate. yes the chemistry (script, direction, actors interaction...). Representing the first love for you is nice. Like I said last time, the only sweet Wilmon moment of the season is "from the field ep4, until the fish moment ep5".

We are some to think that August invented the "Alexander threat" and the "Simon solution", only to screw Wille and Simon relation ship.
Neither of Wille or Simon succeed to put himself in the other shoes. It is a pity they don't team up. Wille resolves it by himself.
Josh you are right, August expulsion from the school is the last drop. First Simon blackmailing him, then the girls mocking him, now the school expelling him (then Wille humiliating him)....Result = video leaking. He had no interest to do it, but he lost it from anger.

I agree with Josh, Simon and Wille are both to blame in the drug situation, and Simon doesn't seem to take any responsibility.
Yes they have a nice base of attraction, but as you say Alex, they need to communicate and define what they both want (or are allowed to have in Wille's case). But the series of events are too strong and fast in their too early relation. I feel they don't have the time to do it (the definition I mean).
I don't think I am as sweet as Wille who just saved Simon and August, while being the bad guy in this episode, and nobody cares.
It was too much for you when Sara confronts Simon about his betray, seeing his dad (for shady purposes)...yes it is much.

Actually Josh, there are multiple layers to the intimate video on the web, not only being outed : 1-being outed yes, 2 - having their privacy violated simply, 3 - being scrutinized under the media because of Wille status, 4 - dealing with the royal family decisions. So, it is dealing with all of those consequences.
It is anyway too much for two 16 teens, in an early relation, to handle properly, let's be realistic !!

I don't know if you guy's are taking requests or not but there is another great Scandinavian show called SKAM (specifically Season 3) that is a bit older and has more of a camcorder/real life feel to it. Whilst airing the show would upload clips in real time and the characters would post on their IG so it really felt like your following someone's day to day life.
Oh and allso on the topic of international queer entertainment, if you wanna jump continents, Thailand has a rather large pool of (almost exclusively) gay shows in a genre called BL that just now is slowly shaping out to be relatable and representative _(not to get into to much but the genre has evolved a lot)_ . I would love to recommend a rather new show called KinnPorsche which is * amazing * and similarly to Young Royals shows a world very different to ours not just in culture but allso in theme but has a much more adult feel to it _(think lil nas x mv)_ .

Only my opinion but I think the whole point of the story is that every character is flawed, in some way (except, perhaps, Felice) and privilege corrupts everything.
Felice is also flawed - just remember how she treated Sara (who did nothing wrong to her apparently) in the first episode and in the beginning of the third. She also lies to her parents about her life, achievements and whereabouts. And coming to August not because she liked him but because Wille rejected her and she needed comfort was not her best move. She didn't care much about him and his feelings, it added to August's insecurity and none of them was happy in this relationship. But she definitely proves being a nice person and a true friend and redeems herself by the end of the series.

I really like that, that all characters have flaws and makes mistakes. When it's not so black and white.
It's so ridiculous with protagonists who are just perfect angels and can't do anything wrong, especially when they're teens.

I recommend that everyone watch SKAM from the beginning, all the seasons are excellent and great to react to, even if season 3 is the best, season 3 (and 4) gets so much better when you know the characters, you just feel more for them and understand them and everything going on around them better, instead of just getting thrown into the story in the middle of the show.

the difference between simon & the rich guys is that simon’s in a precarious financial situation & regardless of the morality or legality of his dealing, simon will be far more impacted by getting caught. the rich guys are privileged asf, have no need to be consuming substances & will not be impacted nearly as badly. they’ll just go to the next best school & their families will buy their way out of it.

I think the reason August doesn't want to sell the assets off is because it's the last of his father's stuff and then he'd have to deal with the closure of his father dying.
That could be part of it, but it was also briefly mentioned when Wille was inducted after his brother's death that the requirement to be in the super secret club is to be the owner (inheritor) of a large estate (only the rich + powerful). If he sells off his land like his mother suggested then he would not qualify to be in the club... which is what Wille was referencing.
Yeah it is both; to keep the honor of his late father and to keep his place in The Society.

August won 't let go of his assets out of a stubborn desire to keep up the appearance that he's one of the ultra-wealthy. His being kicked out of school is entirely his own fault. He's an elitist douchebag. He fully belongs in jail for leaking an underage sex tape that HE filmed illegally. Simon wouldn't have had to deal the drugs if August had freakin' paid him back for the alcohol in the first place. The ending is definitely the free fall of the roller coaster of this season.

Mormon porno took me out. I don’t know if Wilhelm saved his cousin. I think Wil checked on the finance info, and then the queen was given the heads up because the palace staff are more loyal to her than the new crown prince, and the queen was the one who saved August from humiliation partially because she wants to keep an eye on her younger son since, publicly, Wilhelm is a fuck up while August is behaving well, as in not getting caught. This is another example of the young prince not having the skills to lead. He literally doesn’t yet know who is loyal to whom among the high class. He and Simon are similar outsiders. Simon is lower class. Wilhelm attended a public school before coming to this boarding school, so he has a title and bodyguards, but he lacks connections just like Simon who was not aware of tutoring privileges or cost. Little things obvious to others, like the queen, are still out of the prince’s capabilities.
I totally agree with Alex’s take that August has assets to sell but he is just too damn proud 🤦🏼♀️

the posture that the actor does is on point, its really looks like a prince
its interesting how you commented about the security guards knowing.. and it must be pretty obvious. recently though "the permanent rain press" did an interview with the actress who plays "malin" the blonde security guard. interestingly, in real life she has been in the military and later was also in "close personal protection" (personal bodyguard). she explained her take on the situation with simon being in his room and them escorting them down to the lake in this episode. she said that in her line of work the job is to protect the person and that what they get up to is private and isnt shared with anyone. she believed that the backstory would be that she is aware of simon and willes relationship and that simon would have contacted or spoken to her either before or after the football field incident so that she was aware of at least where he was and this would build trust between simon and her. i didnt think it would have been that deep, but regardless, it seems to be the case she believes simon is not a bad influence on wille and therefore, they have no problems with him spending time with him.

Someone already said it but I couldn't agree more is that Simon is feeling terrible about throwing Alexander under the bus. So th comment: Should I thank you now?! is on that anger because yes he sold the drugs but the boys took it. Alexander had 'nothing' to do with it.
I agree so much that Wilhelm standing up for himself and Simon is the first time you can see that he could be a great prince. I hope that season 2 will be more of him like that. Not to be the prince the queen wants but to be his own proud prince! :)

This episode was the roller coaster the finale is ........well, get them drinks ready maybe not cocktails preferably something neat.......especially after this season....

15:54 August doesn't want to sell off any of his dad's estate for several reasons. It's part of August's status to be heir of this estate. Plus, just as a remembrance of his father (who unalived himself when August was young). I'm sure he had looked up to his father as a young boy. August is obsessed with power, control, and status. He would lose some of that by selling off parts of his dad's estate that August inherited. August might lose his place as prefect, captain of the rowing team, and head of the secret society.

The reason August doesn’t wanna dell his art is because it was all his fathers. The art and all the other pieces his mom wants him to sell are the last things he has of his father. His father died and left all that to him. His mom wants him to sell it so she can get the money and sure MAYBR pay his tuition. But they set it up like she just wants him to let her sell that and keep the money so she can continue to fund her lifestyle with her new hubby.
as a german i have to say, that 6 is not really pronounced as sex, because the s is more smooth and not so "sharp"... but the other numbers were pretty good pronounced!!

You could even do an intro recap video of what you've liked/not liked so far before starting season 3.

Maybe a less popular opinion, but I don't think August was going to release the video until Wille told the society about his finances. Him watching the video, asking Vincent about whether Wille would make a good king, etc. seemed like he was genuinely thinking about what it means for Wille not to be straight. Of course, he's awful so he probably saw the whole Alexander situation as an easy way to remove Simon from the equation and maybe get Wille back on "the right path".
