Use to be in the bike trade ( 8 years ) the throttle system in the UK is illegal, that's why it's not fitted , all Electric bikes should be pedal assist and limited to 15.5 mph. Unfortunately with the internet etc it's easy to purchase this stuff , until you get stopped by the police.
    Great video as always 👍👍

Thanks! May I ask what makes the throttle illegal? The electrics scooters you hire in cities have them. I understood the limited speed though.
      👌🐷

@@PiggyPower Not sure of the reason, but they are on bike's. We also use to sell electric scooters on the understanding that it was used on private ground ( but of course they weren't) so we stopped selling in the end.
Thankfully I'm not in the trade anymore.

@@richarddavey9547 you can use the electric scooters on the road I believe but you just need insurance iirc. And limited to 15.5mph. its a bit dumb tbh coz I can cycle plenty faster than 15.5mph

So ebikes can have a throttle but it must stop at 6km/h and only pedal assist after.
I find it the most bizarre illegal thing ever mind ... I totally get the limit of 250w motors ... All these ebikes that do 40mph+ is just an electric motorcycle and that is dangerous unless you know what you're doing....
But a 250w bike with a thumb throttle limited to 15mph.... Yeah that's crazy dangerous and scary 🤣
