The Yoga of Surfing | Finding my Zen in Varkala Beach India 🇮🇳

- “Surfing has become an extension of my yoga practice. It is a form of meditation. When I'm in the water I completely forget about everything else. Whatever is troubling me, dissolves in the waves.” This has been my experience while surfing in Varkala Beach, in Kerala, on the south of India.
In the past, every time I traveled to India, I would spend most of my time in Mysore or Rishikesh visiting ashrams and practicing yoga. But now that I've discovered surfing in India, I can’t think of doing anything else. Instead of visiting ashrams now I just want to visit surf spots in Varkala.
So it seems that I'm moving away from my yogic path, but at the same time perhaps I'm not. There is more to surfing than just a sport. Let me show you what I mean with this video, while at the same time, I show you what surfing in India looks like.
I discovered surfing in India very recently, about a year ago. That's when rented a Royal Enfield in Mysore and rode more than 700 km to find waves in Varkala. You can watch the whole journey here 👉 • Can you surf in India?...
I enjoyed so much Varkala that I decided to stay as long as I could.

Loved this! My experience is the opposite - 35yrs of surfing and relatively new to yoga. I really appreciate the parallels you found, and I would agree they kind of blend into, and supplement each other.
I find this clip fascinating. Surfing is wherever it takes you. I've been in Indonesia, Bali for three decades. Expect a lot of changes coming your way surfing in India.
