    I keep on watching Dr. Daniel. I had no interest in growing chickens, but this guy is so infectious in his excitement and he is such a good instructor, I just keep watching and learning. I am happy for him in his endeavors. I was excited for the chickens to see how they reacted to the fodder. They were like kids in a candy store!

    About the garden: be sure to only put old chicken manure, not hot or fresh since it'll burn any plants. Also be sure to put mulch or a cover crop on that large plot, the dirt loses nutrients if uncovered from the sun, a simple layer of mulch will protect it well.
    What grain and seed you do feed them you really should ferment for 3 days and set up a rotation of it. It will save you 25-35% in grain since it will fill them better as well as the nutrients being more bioavailable for them. It works wonders!

      Sir, can you please elaborate more on the fermenting process and the whole procedure plus the effect on a more detailed answer? Should I ferment my seeds in a bucket of water for three days and then give it to my chickens? How much fermented seeds can you give a chicken before they start to get sick? Does it have any bad side-effect?

    Great! As seeds sprout their protein levels go up due to the enzymatic procedures. That's why feeding brewers' grains (brewery spent grains) also is a great idea!

    For future, you might look at no till permaculture gardening methods. The goal of these is to improve your soil each season, so you never have to 'rest' your soil. A big help on small farms.

    A suggestion, Get them tested, to confirm how your washing helps(pesticide residues) as you use it as feed because they are treated seeds.

    There are a lot of forage that are high in protein that u can plant, im happy you were able to make your fodder and know about azolla and duckweed.
    Supplements them too with snail shell and crickets aside from bsf. These insects and snails are profitable too.

      Loved your video thank you, inspired now to make my own fodder too. Know chi Dickens love lucerne so will try that as lm not sure where to get your duck ???.
      But just to add to feeding chickens grain free......try & pour all your manure ie you mentioned pigs, but all manure , cow, rabbit, chicken , horse etc in one big section to mound up somewhere then after a few weeks set the chickens loose on it & watch them go crazy eating their bus & slugs etc. High protein at no cost. 😄

    Excellent project. Have you tried fermenting commercial feeds or organic grains. I have read that this reduces your feed by one third. I am trying it out on my chickens. I have noticed that the chickens eat less and are full for longer. I love your videos. I am also going to try the barley fodder and will look for the BSF. Thank you for the tips. God Bless you!

      @@tirsocruze5816 never got response. In fact, if you are in Africa, probably best available seed is maize (corn). Search the net and CZcams for hydroponic fodder, you will find lot of explanation (English and Spanish) with some differences in method
