- This is an international arrival from Naples, Italy into London Heathrow airport. We arrived in terminal 2 and had to transfer to Terminal 5 but after that had to take a tram to B Gates. This is a large airport. Good luck and enjoy London Heathrow Airport. We ultimately are headed to Boston. London Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world.

sorry that is actually terminal 3
An excellent real-time video that shows the vastness of Terminal-5 at London Heathrow Airport. Your video made it clear how important it is to plan for such challenges. Well filmed and narrated.
Thank you so much for this video!
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing
thanks for your video tour. I need to travel from T3 to T5. your video removes my uncertain during the transfer
Thank you very much!
Thank you so much. I will be here tomorrow with a layover to Denver. You helped with my anxiety
Thank you for the video!
Good description with minute details. Very helpful
Excellent, good vdo for support new first travelling person
You sound a little silly going on about elevators and disabled people! T5 was built in 2008. It is completely accessible for people that can't use stairs! In fact the whole of Heathrow is. The buggy you saw is used for people with mobility difficulties :)
Wow! What an ordeal! 😢 Thanks for doing this video because at least I'm now prepared when I get there next month. Otherwise I would have been pretty overwhelmed not knowing what to expect! And I thought O'hare was bad!
Excelente video! Ayuda enorme para quienes hacen vuelos de conexión 💙👏🏻🙏🏻
Informative video ❤
Great video, thanks so much for sharing. I fly out of Gatwick regularly to visit family back home. All Virgin flights were moved to Heathrow after the pandemic so I flew out of there for the first time in years. I absolutely love airports but I wasn't super-fond of Heathrow. A bit chaotic and hard and confusing to navigate. A bit grimey too. I miss my beloved Gatwick!
Nice video ❤
Vídeo excelente.!!!Real e esclarecedor!!!
When going through Heathrow, it's best to travel with airlines that are part of the same 'group'. That's because they generally use the same terminal and you won't have to make a terminal change. Back in April I flew from Orlando to Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic and then on to Amsterdam using KLM. I never had to leave Terminal 3. Also, always familiarize yourself with the airport(s) you're going to be flying through or to.
Come November I'll be flying from Amsterdam to Tampa via Atlanta, so I've watched a lot of videos about Atlanta as that's a HUGE airport. I already know that I'll likely land at terminal E, have to walk to terminal F to go through immigration, pick up my checked luggage, go through customs, check my luggage again, go through security and then make my way to where my flight to Tampa departs from (probably terminal A or B). It really pays to check out the airports ahead of time, so you don't get lost and can understand the signage.
This was a British Airways flight from Naples, Italy with a 1.5 hour layover before going to Boston. It was booked as Naples to Boston with a layover in London for 1.5. So apparently British Airways switches terminals.
@@VirtCam Yes, and that's probably because Heathrow is the BA's main hub and you switched from a 'local European' flight to an international flight. The video was still interesting and informative, though!
@@ganymedes62 The vast vast majority of BA's flights at Heathrow are from Terminal 5, but they use Terminal 3 as kind of an overflow.
Unfortunately, KLM has moved back to T4. They were only in T3 due to T4 being closed during COVID, I think. It looks like some BA flights are using T3 in 2023 as all Iberia flight are back over at T5.
thank you very much for your video. It really helps with my planning coz im travelling with my little boy next month.
👍 great❤❤❤
Love the video, I haven't been to London in a while but looking forward to my next trip their. But you're right about us Wheelchair users not being able to get around now the way the set up is now.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for filming this episode. We have a connecting flight from NYC through Heathrow to Paris but the layover is only 1 hour. I'm terrified we are going to miss our connection. I'm not sure if your video calmed my nerves or made me more anxious. Either way, I am SO appreciative you took the time to film it. Wish us luck ❤.
Can you tell me your experience? I’m flying from CLT to Edinburgh with an hour and 25 min layover at Heathrow and I’m very nervous about that time frame! Were you able to make your connection?
Yes they do have systems in place for non-mobility customers. They always ask during the booking process if whether
Thank you for this video I'll be there Dec 10th to Athens
Enjoy we also did an Athens airport arrival video
Yeah, Heathrow is huge! When connecting at the big airports in Europe (Heathrow, Charles de Gaulle, Schiphol, Frankfurt, Istanbul) you should always plan at least 3h in my experience. The easiest airport from the list to transfer at is defnitely Schiphol, because they just have one Terminal divided in different Departure Areas instead of several Terminals. The huge ones (that also feel huge when conncecting through them) are Frankfurt, London and Paris. It's a very long walk if you're not that lucky with the location of your arrival and departure gate.
how long time does this take aprox?
i have a 2hr layover and no checked luggage goin from terminal 2 to 4.
@@uberbased2382 I think 2h would be enough.
@@mstrmren i have 1hr35min. which it says on the website 1.hr 30min at least for this transfer lol
Was it enough 1 hour 30?
The elevators are everywhere you just keep walking past them
Damn that’s a “hike”!
I need to do the same thing in August 2023. Arriving from SLC on Delta (Terminal 3) leaving to Glasgow on British Airways (terminal 5). I agree with some of your observations. The busiest airport in the world in Atlanta and because it has a linear design, it is much more efficient. The thing that drives me nuts about British airports is the posting of the gate so late in the game. I like to know 90 minutes in advance which gate I will need to be at - I won't wait there that long, but I like to know. As an FYI, every escalator/stairway/etc. has a corresponding elevators someplace - you just didn't see them. Glad you made it! Its quite a journey. Heathrow is a remarkable airport, but it is expensive and just too cumbersome.
The late gate posting is a Heathrow thing. I didn't experience it in Glasgow or Edinburgh. T3->5 is a pretty easy, smooth transfer if you can use Flight Connections.
Heathrow is massive and one of the busiest in the world. It has to be even bigger
I've done that a bunch of times at Heathrow. The airport is huge. Earlier this year my sister was telling me she'll be connecting at Heathrow for the first time. She said something that she allowed for a two hour connection time so she'll have "plenty of free time" to do things at the airport. I told her you got to be kidding. I allow much, much more than that, to be prepared if the incoming flight is delayed.
Hey I have question
Do you need visa when you fly international
I mean l am from Turkey and l am going to Bahamas l just need international fly
@@umitekingorunmez9513 Check with the Bahama government's website. U.S. citizens don't need a visa to visit the Bahamas but I don't know about Turkey.
Hi! Sorry for bothering you. Maybe you know if I need a transit visa for connection flight (less than 24 hours) if I’m flying from Istanbul to Brazil (I hold Belarusian passport).
Thank you.
@@akkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Sorry, I don't know. I suggest asking your airline or the UK Border Agency. I'm going to guess if you don't go through UK passport control, remain inside the airport terminals solely for transiting, you might not need any sort of visa, but I'm not sure. UK immigration is kind of strict. Fortunately, I travel on a U.S. passport so no visa required, although I've heard in the future there may need to be ETAs (electronic travel authority) to enter. It's like that to go to Australia for me. It's no big deal. You fill out a form online, pay something like $20, and it's immediately done.
It is very disabled friendly, especially if you ask for assistance. You also past a mobility truck which they can be transported on.
This is a really helpful for me?, am going to Prague in august with connection I’m Heathrow damm that airport is intimidating
Tama ka Talaga crazy airport
Really a crazy airport, had a he'll of a time with delayed incoming flight ,huge crowd at passport scanning, the scanner failing ,compelled to take manual scanning unhelpful staff etc.finally because of one good Samaritan and helpful staff at security managed to board the flight to Sanfrasisco. The British airways could have made some arrangements to help and guide the passengers.
Your video has brought out the problems of the passengers while guiding.Thank you.
You actually arrived in Terminal 3, not Terminal 2 (there are signs in your video). In my experience, British Airways connections are entirely contained within Terminal 5, and usually that makes connections easier than your experience here. Terminal 5 was a massive addition created in 2008, and it's supposed to be a one-stop terminal for British Airways, but overflow goes to Terminal 3.
Thank you for clarification
They have 3 other air ports Gatwick Manchester Bristol. And I can't do stairs because I had a massive stroke which I can't feel the right side of my body so I have to look where I step with my right foot because I can't feel it so I am disabled from my stroke and I can you escalators but not stairs so I would need to use the elevators so thank you for this video. I also have been in England before but my husband has never traveled abroad. My parents would send me and my sister abroad so we could learn about stuff and at 16yrs old we taught the bartender how to make strawberry dacaries lol
Thank you for share this nice video. I have a question, when you got out of passport scanner you took the stairs and rode up, Could I ride up via lifts?
Yes there are lifts, on the other side of the escalators.
I will hopefully be flying from Belfast cIty to Heathrow(staying the night), then flying from Heathrow to Zurich the next day, flight from Belfast arrives into Terminal and flight to Zurich goes from Terminal 5, both flights are BA. On way back I'm doing the same route Zurich - Heathrow - Belfast(all at once with connection) again all flights BA and terminal 5. (at the time of doing this comment, terminal 5 is the one on my booking info and hopefully I get going)
so i've only ever flown into and out of terminal 2 and that has a very long walk to get from irish/uk gates in terminal 2 to international flights in terminal 2. terminal 5 appears to be even longer of a walk
Great video with the sound turned off
On and on and on...................
Disabled people always get assistance if requested!!!!
I'd imagine Terminal 5 is 100% wheelchair-accessible, it was built in 2008
It is
So if you had a long layover and wanted to explore London, you would go to arrivals, right?
Hi
Thanks for video
is it to take in transit visas for London Heathrow Airport to SFO Airport usa from Mumbai, because of layover time is 19 hours and 40 minutes..thank in advance
Hi, great video
One question, just to be sure - so you didn‘t have to reclaim the baggage when you have a flight connection?
If you already checked in for the international flight at the original destination you should be good to go leaving the bags.
But in some cases you may need to fetch your luggage. It’s best to confirm with the airline at checkin
It was terminal 3, judging by the position of the control tower, the more you know, great video though
Has the Flight Connections corridor moved? I think I saw on an older video that Flight Connections were on the opposite side of the main Arrivals corridor.
You can arrive from either side although the majority of the terminal is on the side shown in this video. Out of 18 trips through Heathrow, only once have I not landed in the direction shown here!
I think you arrived at Terminal 3.
how long in total did that take?
16hrs of layover and terminal 3 to terminal 2,do i require transit visa??
Hello, I was wondering if you happen to know the answer to my question, I been looking online, but I cannot find the answer. I am coming from US to Heathrow Terminal 3. Do I need to go through passport control? The thing is, I bought a separate airfare from Heathrow to Naples and I only have 2 hours to go from Terminal 3 to Terminal 5. I am not sure if I can make it. How long did it take you from Terminal 2 to Terminal 5 at your gate? Thanks!
That’s a good question actually. I would assume If you don’t leave the airport and just transfer terminals you should not have to process immigration
Heathrow is like Dulles and Hartsfield-Jackson on steroids!
Atlanta is big but doesn't feel like it, it's pretty much 5-6 parallel lines with the train connecting them
Have you passed by passport control during the travel between the terminals ???
my guess is yes.... that's the part I came to see and that's the part i think he edited out 16:20
Great Video. This Video shows that a short connection time at heathrow is not advisable.
correction: you arrived at Terminal 3, and not Terminal 2
People in wheel chairs get escorts. That means getting to go a different path at times.
You arrived into Terminal 3, not Terminal 2.
so there will no customs/immigration check stop if you are just transiting/connecting via Heathrow, when destination is elsewhere, right?
no
terminal 3?
(Sorry other part missing) If whether they need non-mobility assistance. Disabilities are taken very seriously at LHR. All tailored to the individual.
If I’m going LAX to LHR to LIS do I need to get my bag and then check it in again??
No! If you are transferring your luggage should go straight through to your final destination.
Hi, can you tell me where exactly will the security check be performed and how long did it take?
It takes about 30 minutes but really depends on timing
@@VirtCam Thank you:)
I have never seen security as empty as it was in this video! If you are in transit to another flight, you go through the turnstile things that were pictured in the video. You scan your ticket to get through and it is pretty quick. Then you may go right up the nearby escalator or you may be directed through some hallways and then up a different escalator. Security will be right at the top, sometimes a 5 minute line or sometimes 20 minutes. You don't have to remove your shoes unless you think they might set off the scanner! There are several Security people at the conveyors to help you figure out what you have to take out of your cases if you don't know. In September they had a new experimetal machine and my three tablets and two phones could stack in the bin in the zipper cases I carry them in. But in December I had to take them all out and put them in the bin separately, no stacking. My husband had an insulin pump and that always caused a problem!
Te solicitan visa de tránsito?
Hey
I have question
When you fly international
Do they ask visa ? For it
I was going to ask that too. Can you please reply 🙋🏼🙋🏼
You do not process through passport control for a layover. But if you plan to stay in UK and exit the airport you will need.
If I am flying into Heathrow from the US for a connecting flight to France will I have to go through customs there or only in France?
Customs in both England and France, sort of. Follow the purple signs! What he said looks like a passport scanner, actually is a scanner for your ticket. Put the ticket face down I think, and the "gate" opens to let you through. Like a metro gate. Usually it is very quick to get through this area because there are quite a few scanners. This is where the customs booths used to be, and those could take quite a long time. Then, you go up the escalator to get to security, similar to our TSA. Now that can still take quite a long time! I was there two weeks ago (May 2023) and they are testing new luggage scanners that allow you to keep your liquids and electronics in your luggage. It is much quicker! Eventually the new scanners are supposed to be in use for all the security lines there. But for now - it can be very time consuming to get through security. I fly to Nice from there, and yes, you do have customs in Nice but it usually goes pretty quickly. Usually there are two booths that each have two customs officers. One booth for EU residents, one for All Others. I suspect there will be customs wherever you land in France but may not be too bad - unless you are going to Paris!
In about 2 months I'm doing almost the exact same flight change (it's Naples on BA 2613 and then San Francisco on BA287). I'm doing a Terminal 3 to 5 change and I'm a bit worried 'cause it's going to be my first time connecting in an Airport. My booking says that I'll have 2 hours and 40 minute to make my connection. Do you think I'm cutting it close?
No because even though the terminals are quite far away from each other. It’s about a 5 minute bus ride from T5 to T3 security shouldn’t take long but it will be busy. You should be fine though.
@@christiansmith3218 Thanks : ). But actually I’ve been tracking BA2613 and well, it seems to be often late by about 20 min., sometimes even worse. Heathrow website says that I should allow at least 1h and 30 min. to make this connection. So, I assume that I should be fine. Worst case scenario it’s BA problem to get me on the next available flight and there are plenty of them to SFO per day
I’m flying on BA 287 on Tuesday and I’m so excited to visiting San Francisco. You will have plenty of time, just do the same as this video and follow flight connections for T5. BA287 usually leaves from C gates which requires you to take a monorail but doesn’t take long. Enjoy your holidays.
@@davidgriffiths3713 Thanks : ). I've noticed that the process seems to be pretty efficent. Now my concern is about travel chaos in UK airports that may lead to long waiting at security lines. Thankfully BA cancellations in the last several weeks haven't affected any of my flights at this time. I just hope that everything goes smoothly. I've been planning this trip for years now and if anything happens, it will be the second time that I have to cancel my plans; that's what happened 2 years ago because of this Covid thing.
@@guya8784 Same concerns for everyone traveling at the moment. On the plus side BA287 leaves daily and has never been cancelled. The chaos in UK airport at security seems to be back to normal now.
Hello.
Just 1 hour and 10 min from t5 to t3 is enough?
If you're only carrying hand baggage, maybe. But it's too little time for a guaranteed connection so you're out of luck if anything goes wrong and your incoming flight is delayed. Heathrow and the airlines say at least 90 minutes between T5 and T2/3.
You landed in Terminal 3, not 2.
how long time does this take aprox?
i have a 2hr layover and no checked luggage goin from terminal 2 to 4.
How long did it take you?
I always want to allow at least two hours of layover time. I have made it with one hour but a lot of running was involved!
Just correct , this is terminal 3 not 2 :))
Really? I though it was Terminal 2.
you can tell at 8:07
@@crohunter100 just watched this video and saw that too
@@VirtCam It is Terminal 3. If you look at the video for Terminal connections, it clearly shows one of the bus stops that says Terminals 2 & 4.

Metro not required??? As shown in other videos?
No. Metro is only between the concourses of terminal 5
You're in Terminal 3, not 2.
Geez, I hope 1hr 20 minutes is long enough to make my connecting flight. Smh😮
Is a transit visa required when connecting flight in London Heathrow?
Not for US citizens
No

Anyone can tell me about the transit visa? I have to transit for 8 hours from 07.00 - 15.30 and have to move from terminal 4 to 5,and i am the european type D visa Holder, do i need a transit visa in LHR?

@@xehuti it is so easy, and you don't even have to show your passport, there is just security check to check your Hand-carry and boarding pass... Why is Akwaaba only inscribed at the London Heathrow Airport Arrivals/Depature? why not other Ghanaians languages, are you supporting tribalism in Ghana or what? Akan is not the only spoken languege in Ghana, fix that.
Try telling the airport! Not some random youtuber.
We tend to write signs in the language used. Hence in Wales signs are written in English and Welsh. In England signs are written in English only or English and Urdu it depends what's required, its nothing to do with tribalism.
