This is the most Wes has ever Andersoned.
town's name is literally "ennui sur blase" that's the most wes name ever
I can't wait for him to do his own Biopic
Just got back from the theater and can confirm it's maximum Anderson
yes
😂😂😂😂
Everytime I blink Timothee Chalamet is in yet another movie, and am HERE for it
This is Timothee's year now
Dune and french dispatch, two films I've been dying to watch for some time
Seen him first in The King then in Dune. He's smart, charming and good looking. He's growing on me.
He also has a cameo appearance in The Last Duel!
ME TOO !!!! TIMMY CAN DO ANYTHING !!!! GOING TO DISPATCH THIS AFTERNOON !!!! CANT WAIT
Obsessed with how Anderson seems to be determined to do absolutely everything in the location he picks for his movie. It feels like a much more holistic way to make films.
True, sort of zero waste production.
He respects every single aspect and craft of film making, down to passive collaborators like surroundings. Watching these BTS clips, it seems abundantly clear that being so much on location adds a certain authenticity to the acting, production design, and just general atmosphere on set. Coming from a performance design background, it's completely natural to me that art is situated and location-specific. It's just that Hollywood has avoided location specific film making for so long, in order to save money.
@@TheNinetySecond even when he was doing fantastic mr fox which was all animated he still had George Clooney say his lines on location as if he was being the character
i love the moment at 3:27 where tilda swinton comes out of being frozen and looks straight at the camera as she shrugs and smiles to herself like "isn't this all so fun"
Timothee was one of the standouts in this movie. And to think he also got Dune and is very good there too. Kid's gotta be one of the best actors working today
Is it on the account of his new muscles?
He was fantastic in The King and call me by your name as well
Reminds me of Leonardo DiCaprio in some ways.
great in beautiful boy and little women too
YOU SAID IT A TOTAL STANDOUT IN ANYTHING HE DOES !!!
In my world, Wes Anderson's movies are beyond brilliant and therapeutic.
@penguin Far from it but yes!
OUR WORLD
Most anticipated movie of the year for me
Don’t get your hopes up
I watched it tonight at the cinema, very beautiful! But you obviously don't know Hamaguchi's Drive My Car and Larrain's Spencer
Second for me. 1st Is DUNE 🤩
same, saw last night. 10/10!!
you can just tell how much detail and thought was put into this film
The french dispatch is hands down an absolute movie with an iconic storyline and everything is so beautiful
Wes Anderson's here bringing towns back to life with his production crew.
i know his sensitivity will return this little village fairly serene ad more prosperous
Eh... Angoulême is fairly well known. The Angoulême International Comics Festival is one of the largest comic festivals in the world, and in France comics (bande dessinée) really matters.
@@desper2011 yet not much happens there. the shooting of the movie there was an event.
I absolutely loved The French Dispatch when i saw it today.
Maybe among some of my favorite Wes Anderson movies.
It was very very hard to grasp I think
damn u making me jealous i couldn't get in cos they thought i was too short to be 15
@@thebiglecrowski3146 that's funny and strange.
Not really related to that but i was kinda supised how explicit The French Dispatch was.
Not in bad way at all i think.
Probably most adult Wes Anderson movie, but still you feel like kid going to candy shop when you are watching it.
I'm wanting to see it, but in Mexico it will come until three more weeks I think
i watched it today! also loved it too!!!
The last story was incredible. Was baked out of my mind trying to figure out how in the fuck Wes Anderson even thought of this shit
the part where the chef talks about the flavour of the poison was my favourite part simply because it’s something i would have never thought about if i was writing this. it just felt like the perfect thing to say
It could of been a film unto itself. The scene with Howitzer at the 'Chicken Coop' is humbling in its humanity.
@@keithwwalker Fun fact: The man Roebuck Wright was inspired by was civil rights activist James Baldwin who in his column "Equal in Paris" for the New Yorker wrote about how he was trapped in a cell of what felt like a chicken coop. In a later interview with Mavis Nicholson, James Baldwin talked about the keys to any religion: "[teach others to] clothe the naked, feed the hungry, and visit people in prison."
I'm not sure if Wes Anderson has ever seen the latter interview but for the film he definitely captured James Baldwin's desperate need to be humanized while in his own coop.
The last story has a strong similarity to a New Yorker article called "Equal in Paris" by James Baldwin. He was also a gay, black foreigner in France and claimed he was put into a tiny cell that he could only describe as a chicken coop.
However, that's only for Roebuck Wright. How Anderson came out with the chef/ kidnapping plot I don't fucking know either lmao
@@bendonks9559 How do you know all this! This super interesting!
"It started with a substantial panic" said the Production Designer. Too funny and too true. Gorgeous film. Congratulations.
it's like Tim Burton had a baby brother that was bright and colorful. they are both very stylized and Alice in wonderland-esque.
now this make me wanna see Wes tackle horror!
@@jenniferariesta6464 he originally planned to collaborate with Henry Selick on Fantastic Mr Fox, and a lot of animators from Selick’s films worked on Fantastic Mr Fox.
@@jenniferariesta6464 a collab between the two would be insane! and I'm all for it!
i live in france and am extremely jealous that wes filmed in angouleme, wish i lived there!
Again, every frame is a work of art unto itself.
To see this at full-scale in a movie theater is an absolute must! 🎬🎨🧡
i'm so excited for this. I feel like chalamet was born to be a wes anderson character lol
2:40 "...like a real France but they've been... a bit twisted because they went through Wes's brain" lol
This looks fantastic. So much rich detail, idiosyncrasy, and amazing composition. Wes has really taken mise-en-scène to the whole new level.
This is an arthouse pop comicbook come to life
I saw the movie in a premiere screening and it was everything you love from Wes Anderson amplified, it's funny because I was with someone who's not too much into him and it's clearly not the movie that's gonna change that. It's just even more Wes Anderson
This movie was so much fun that I immediately watched The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Life Aquatic and am watching The Royal Tenenbaums tonight, I can't believe I've been missing out on Wes Anderson all this time!
Don't Forget 'RUSHMORE'!
The mere thought of Timothée Chalamet (and Wes. And the rest of the cast too.) walking the streets of my hometown is thrilling.
This film is an amazing piece of art but also hugely entertaining and hilarious. A real masterpiece! ❤
I don't care Tilda's little shrug towards the camera was ADORABLE. (and lets be honest that's not a word you readily associate with her)
even mr wes andersons tie knot is artsy 😩❤️
I went to see it yesterday and I was blown away by the beautiful look of it all. Though not my favourite overall, it's possibly Wes's most stylish film yet. I'm planning to see it again soon so I can focus more on the story rather than just the cinematography, which I found completely captivating.
So basically it's a Wes Anderson film. Stop right there, I'm in.
I saw an ad for this that did this is Wes Anderson’s most beautiful movie yet. It looks the same as all his other movies. Also on that note I will still probably watch it.
So glad to see the brilliant Adrian Brody back in full swing.
This film, as every Wes anderson's film, is brilliant... I can't...
masterpiece , one can say, a genious film and living in France I felt the story telling factor here got me appreciate it even more. Thank you so much Mr Anderson
my friend and i went to watch this yesterday, for her birthday. she was so bored by it, she made us walk out in middle, and i cried on the train home because i've been wanting to watch this for so long. whatever i did see of it was simply beautiful. a little confusing at times, and a little estranged, but would it be a wes anderson film if it didn't intrigue and confuse the hell out of you at the same time?
sending hugs 🫂
@@idcman aww thanks love
You need new friends, as well, you should have let her take the train home by herself!
I have watched Dune the day before ‘the french dispatch’ and I found it had more substance more humanity more character than Wes’s movie. The french dispatch is a succession of images, brilliantly crafted but devoid of humanity. I feel that Wes was overwhelmed and drowned by.France that he wanted so desperately to portray with all his heart and all his brilliancy. But he got swallowed by his own stylistic ambition and could not revive the subtle and wonderful balance between style and substance that he had found in the tribute to the Old Europe that ‘the grand Budapest was
Having watched dune recently (but not the french dispatch) that's definitely saying a lot lol
I think in time, this will be considered a revered classic.
im absolutely in love with this film
Is nobody else in awe that the entire story is told in 4:3? Is that not an incredible way to show a narrative. Wes, you broke the narrative and the character that was awe provoking. Brovo
I'm here to see Tilda, Timothy and Rupert ❤
2:15 idk why but that makes me laugh everytime
Still more accurate than that Netflix thing in Paris.
I desperately want the next Wes Anderson movie to be set in Greece; Wes, or his team, if you see this, please please please bring your charm and vision to the idiosyncrasies of Greek life!
Never thought I needed a Wes Anderson film set in Greece until you mentioned it, it would look so beautiful!
Wow... If someone would have told me a few years back that Angouleme had the visual potential for a Wes Anderson movie, I would have laughed.... The city has it's own charm, indeed, but it has an awkward distribution of buildings, and the discontinuing ramparts here and there makes it look chaotic.. But the city is a hub for cartoon/BD artists worldwide and it has a strong 2D animation film/series industry... Probably they chose it because of the culture funds furnished by the Charente region... Meh, regardless, I'm dying to see Angouleme through the soft pink filter of Wes Anderson :) i'm sure i'm gonna love it
Just watched it today, it was great got what I paid for and more. Jeffrey Wright was a great casting, his part was my favorite
I’ve only been to Angoulême once, and even then it was only a quick stop on a coach to Paris, but I deffo need to visit again once I’ve seen the movie. It’s stunning.
One of the best movies i've watch so far this year. So glad that all those delays are worth it!
2:58 "... and how do we shape the research into our story"
- footage with artists landscaping paintings -
Thank you for making this!
I missed a lot of references, probably things went over my head too, but I was captured so completely by the world he created
Chalamet just keeps getting better and better
He’s so BRILLIANT.
You can really hear the place Wes Anderson is from in his voice - Texas.
This will be the reason I set foot in a theater.
Everytine that I watch a Wes Anderson movie, i get into depression.... I wish I had a small part of the creativity of his and all of the people he is worked with, on the production side.... Incredible, can't wait for the movie to come out
Don't let it depress you! Use his work as inspiration! He was in the same spot at one point. Tell yourself that you are as talented as him, tell yourself you'll work with him someday, tell yourself whatever you need to. it's easier said than done but don't let someone's work discourage you, especially if it's something you admire so much. I believe in you!
Absolutely mindblowing production
Gonna see this next weekend!
The last scene is an homage to amazing "Brazil" and its police entrance to get Mr.Turtle( by mistake).
I have to see it for the cinematography alone. Wow 🤩
The More Ya Watch This Film, TheBetter it Becomes!
Loved this movie!
"this is very wes anderson" exaclty
Gotta watch at 1/4 speed to appreciate everything
I love this film. I'm so sad it's not showing in my hometown though. Otherwise I'd have seen it 10 times by now.
Sophie from The Da Vinci Code!!
Thumbnail gourmet 😚👌
The scene at the end with guns pointed in different directions…….Lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS MY HOMETWON Y'ALL THIS IS MY HOMETOWN!!!!!
god i want to see this movie so bad.
It’s not great

Shirtless Timothee in the thumbnail, you’ve got my view.
Saw it last night... can you actually fall in love with a film?
Bravo
He’s a genius
his movies are rather strange, like strange moving comic books.
For some reason my local theater which is apart of a bug chain had posters and ads everywhere for this but it’s not playing there. So no I have to wait until it comes out on Apple TV
this was a great movie although it went a bit fast to my taste. the cinematography was amazing, and the actors are great, but i think its much funnier if you watch this as a person who talks french because there are many word games with french words :)
Bon à savoir, merci !
@@SandrinesVoxServices pas de problème :)
Fantastic movie! If you're a fan of the New Yorker and can speak French, you're in for an extra special treat :)
"Ennui sur Blasé". That's how we call Paris, nowadays.
God damn...I have to see this movie
Wessed and Andersoned by Written Directerson
I have to see this.
2:44 but they've been bit twisted because they went through Wes's brain.
Lmfao
It was supposed to get an India release yesterday but I can't find a single screening anywhere I've been waiting for this movie for so long now
I know!! Fuck it I was waiting for it for so long and I can't find a single screening for it. It's just so sad but also infuriating
Hmmm Ennui Sur Blasé??? LOL I think we might have all visited that place in the past year.
Looks like a pure art movie. It ain't gonna make money. Even from this short clip, I can see his brilliance. But, we will see how it does. It may win awards at various circuits but I wonder who keeps financing him. It will never make its principal back. Although, I could see why all the actors would want to be in one of his films.
ADHD's dream movie
Ennui Sur Blase-lmao!
He should make a movie about Casanova and venice
2:48 Mon oncle Jacques Tati
Pretentious?! Like all of his films and the pompously pleased with themselves actors in them!
F-ing brillant
RPZ Angoulême
I want to watch this movie but the theaters near me don’t show it lol
When would it release?
anyone know the song ?
It's originally "Aline" from the french 70s singer called Christophe. But here it's a new cover I don't know by who ^^

Daddy Anderson
The movie will require several watches i think. Its a bit overdone so hard to grasp at times. I didn’t really like it tbh. I’d give it a 6/10
Didn’t like it either. First time watching one of his movies and I was so confused. Felt like there was so substance. Too silly and random.
I find Wes Anderson’s movies insufferably pretentious, but I’ll watch it for the Chalamet.
This movie is visually stunning but sadly lacks better character development and an engaging storyline.
merde ! j'ai oubliè le manette du gaz ouverte ! Wes feme la pleaze !!!
great movie without any french involvement.
viva la france!
Great set, can we talk about how sexy Timothee Chalamet is?! dammmnnnnnnn
