    Essential Oils are super powerful to use against mosquitoes and ticks! And such a safer alternative than the commercial brands that are loaded with concerning chemicals! Let me know what you think of the recipe....

    Yes Amy and also citronella essential oil is beneficial to add....plus we can have the citronella plants on our deck space to help keep mosquitos at bay - it works well... I commend you on a well executed video...no annoying music (so many folks don't get this), your tone of voice is excellent and the pace is good so people can grasp what you are talking about.

    Great recipes! I never thought of using a small amount of carrier oils for a bug spray or roll on. When I was doing my case studies, I made a bug spray with peppermint hydrosol and some oils (I cant remember which ones) and solubol. The case study client loved it. She was a camper. I am definitely keeping these recipes in mind. Thanks, and I LOVE those huge roll on bottles, as I try to work in 1 oz amounts as much as I can.

    I love your channel. I got a digital recorder for Christmas and trying to get comfortable filming myself to make videos like this for my clients. Your business course look great!
    One recommendation to reduce waste and plastic, you could use glass pipettes and just wash and boil them to sanitize and reuse. I keep mine categorized in separate jars for which oils I use the most. Lavender pipette, peppermint pipette, carrier oil, alcohol, and gel pipette, etc. 🥰♻️

    Hi Amy! Thanks so much for these recipes. We're into winter here in Australia but I'll be bookmarking these to make in our spring!
    Do you find the aloe / fatty oil / eo combination separates? Wondering if a solubiliser might help in this formula?
    Thanks again! 😊

    • @officialamygalper
      @officialamygalper  Před 2 lety

      yes, the oil will separate out a little. But the pre-made Aloe I am using has some carrageenan gum which acts as a solubiliser but you can also add an additional solubiliser if you want. I always shake before using! Thanks for watching

    Hi Amy. I love your video, all your wonderful information and thorough explanations, thank you!
    I have a couple questions for you: I live in Italy- so not easy to find the same kind of supplies you are using nor the vast selection to choose from, and certainly much more expensive!
    I was wondering the difference between using a glass roll top bottle that has a metal ball verses one with a plastic ball; could the metal ball leach dangerous chemicals in the oils (made in China= no real quality control or guarantees!), but I heard the plastic can be degraded from the oils (& can also be dangerous leaching chemicals in the oil when hot)? What do you think?
    Moreover, is it better to use an amber or blue tinted bottle verses a clear bottle to preserve the oils from degrading? How long would a batch of the Mosquito repellent last once filled in the bottles? Should they be kept in the refrigerator?
    If working in the garden outdoors, how often does the gel formula need to be reapplied (since there's no way around sweating from the humidity!) If I were to spray the other alcohol based repellent all over my clothes as well, does that last longer or the gel one should be reapplied every so often?
    I have used a natural type that was made up from and purchased from my local pharmacy, but it seems not to deter the mosquitos, as I got majorly bit up everywhere- even after I used the spray, rubbing it in over my body!!
    Thank you for any input and information you help me with. I love to garden, but these horrid mosquitos and flies are making it impossible and dreadful!
    Paj🌼

      thanks for your message - and happy to hear you are getting such value from the content. Metal bal VS plastic. really no difference in my opinion because the essential oils are well diluted so won't degrade the plastic. Really depends on what you prefer. And I'd assume that you'd use the roll on fairly quickly so your concerns over degradation over long time shouldn't happen. yes, the color of glass helps preserve the product. So amber or cobalt blue is always preferred. Yes the gel formula can be reapplied as often as needed. and you can keep in the fridge to extend shelf life! hope this helps

    Do you have a recipe for a large amount to spray your yard? Especially for mosquitoes and fleas. I found a product that used essential oils but was $30 a gallon. It had the essential oils of rosemary, lemongrass, cedarwood, garlic, Citronella and Geraniol.
    Also I got mosquitoes in my rain barrel. Is there something I can add to it to get rid of the mosquitoes and still use it to water my plants. I need to make some kind of cover for the rain barrel. We got so much rain this past month that it's kind of build up and I've not needed to use any water yet. Sincerely Cathy

      A gallon is 128 ounces, so you can just keep doubling the recipe for that amount. make sense? thanks for the comment

    Hi Amy, you lost me on the configuration for the liquid bug spray. When you were measuring out the alcohol you measured out 40 grams, did you tare out your scale after adding the carrier & essential oils or did you not tare it & you also said to use 50 grams of distilled water then said 60 grams, so again did you tare out the scale? And so where did the 120 grams total come from? Sorry for the stupid questions and also if I missed something. Definitely will try out these formulations. Thank you.

    • @officialamygalper
      @officialamygalper  Před 2 lety +2

      Sorry for any confusion! Hope this clarifies: Yes, I tare-d out my scale when I added the alcohol. I added 40 grams of the alcohol. yes, I tare-d out my scale in between every ingredient. So each bottle is equivalent to 120 ml. So I added 40 grams of alcohol, 60 grams of distilled water, to equal 100 grams, and then the additional grams are of the carrier oils and essential oils. It didn't quite make it to 120 ml - but close. Enough to fill the bottles. I included a recipe in the description: 40 grams of alcohol
      53.76 grams of distilled water
      2.5 grams of Neem Carrier Oil
      2.5 grams of Black Cumin Seed Oil
      1.24 grams of Essential oil Blend (approximately)
      this makes approximately 100 grams. enough to fill 4 ..30 ml bottles. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

      yes, but I would cut the amount of essential oils down by 75% ( a 1/4).... and I wouldn't use the alcohol version. Make sure the aloe vera you use is food grade. Hope that helps. But watch your pet closely..!!
