at :53 you can see the first rider go off the bike after the turn. LOL
Bontrager lights are definitely the best on the market as far as size to brightness and run time. There might be brighter lights, or lights that run longer, but none of them are as compact and sleek looking as the Bontrager series. Looking forward to picking this one up.
This light looks sick! I just picked one up today😁
@0:54 .. in that corner .. something went wrong ... poor guy ;)
Hahahahha I was about to make that comment xD
Hilarious! Good eye!
Maybe his fancy light wasnt bright enough
Eagle's eye. 👍
lol
I have an ion 700 800 and now 1300 pro. Best lights out there. My riding buds always try others but ion is the brightest. You cannot have enough lumens.
Had the light for less than a week and the clip on attachment broke in my hand when I was trying to take off light to charge it , let’s see if warranty covers this at store I bought it from.
But light itself is amazing, I love it. Back light I notice that cars really move around you instead of coming right next to you.
Like Thomas Brooks I also have the Ion 700, ion 800 and now 1300 RT. These lights are great for night bike riding and also make for great on-demand flashlights when needed. It's ridiculous how much light these tiny lights can produce. They are much more than "see" lights, they're also very good "be seen" lights. The daytime flash mode is kind of amazing. I've had motorists who are cyclists stop and ask me what I was using and where they could get them.
These are really good lights.
Love the music
Great stuff 😉👍💯
it does not fit to "any" handle bar, I just bought one and ride a #LIVLadyS cruiser style bike. I will snug up the loose fit with foam or something. It really puts out the light as I tested it last night. I'm also wearing a #BontragerWavecelHelmet and wonder if the light would attach to it? Perhaps not the best idea because it's a little heavy. One thing the Wavecel came in handy yesterday as it prevented a low hanging tree branch that would have stabbed me in the head, the Wavecel wasn't even damaged (fyi).
I mounted the Bontrager Ion Pro RT on both of my motorcycles. I use the strobe mode . The "Cage Drivers" now have no excuse for not seeing me! Had them [2] for two yrs, and the battery life is excellent!
illegal in my country
Solid light
Another question: can I plug it into "ANY" USB cube?
Including my higher amperage, Pixel 3's high speed charging cube?
Yes you could, any USB plug in will work for charging your light, but the higher amp will not increase the speed of said charge
Is it water resistant?
What are you talking about when you say it cuts the time in half with the supplied cable?
Not sure , on their website it says 7-15 hours to charge, although i managed to charge it in 7 hours with the standard USB- Micro USB cable provided.
I have a pair of bontrager xxx bar/stem combo handlebars and it has a blendr mount. Does this light come with an adapter that will allow me to use it on my handlebars? Thanks
The Blendr mount would be with your handlebar, but the light is Blendr compatible right out of the box.
I bought the ion 1000 lumens and the whole body is very hot, did you encounter it also...
The idea is that riding cools the light and the metal body (aluminum) acts as a heat dissipator. But it still will generate some heat even while riding.
I bought the Ion Pro RT a few weeks ago. Was working great. Then one night (note that it was still green when I turn it on) it was not charging and I think I restarted now it's plugged in and It's not even turning on.
Hey there, please bring your light into your local dealer so they can review it. If needed, they can have a warranty claim submitted with your proof of purchase!
So why does the box says it's a "daytime running light"?! Is this just for liability purposes?
@Rogeball PB yeh i figured that out.. its a good light
Is this metal, like to 800r/et, or is it plastic? Thanks in advance!
i bought mine, im going to do a review soon. it's mostly metal and the quality feels fantastic.
@@abbreviateTome great to hear. I just ordered one. The previous 800 line looks and felt great. I couldn't tell if the body of this one was textured plastic. I dont think it looks as nice, but I can't say no to more power and runtime for essentially the same price. I look forward to seeing your review
Thanks. The video is now up on CZcams.
can you mount the light upside down?
yes, with the official Bontrager mount for the handlebar sold separately. or you could fiddle and keep the mount up-sidedown on the handle bar. but that would interfere with the cables
You you can, and I have, and it does not interfere with the cables at all. I did it this way because I have a quad lock phone mount on top.. and they both work will together now. Honestly it looks really stupid on top.
Is there an android app that works with the lights?
Why the hell is there no app for this thing? It's Bluetooth but you can't use your phone for it...... Major Production Flaw
@@iamking5103 it was a well thought idea not to let the clients use these lights with a telephone.
How else would they sell the transmitr?
And yes, I am a Trek bikes sellesman.
The battery should be replaceable..
I wanted to get this light but... 15 HOURS RECHARGE TIME?! Trek are you insane?!!
Where did you read that 15 hour charge time?
Trek official website in Q&A section below the bike light product page. Trek answered that it needs 15 hours of recharge...
That must be a type/mistake. It has a 4800 mAh battery. I can't see why it would take that long. That would put people off buying it.
ink, I got mine nevertheless. I was shocked it said 7-15 hours. mine charged in 7 1/2 hours on the standard micro USB that came in the package. I'm going to make a review in a couple of days.
Trek the best
Will there be a USB-C version?
Not at the moment, just Micro-USB
I’m really disappointed that I paid $170 for one of these and it didn’t come with a helmet mount. And it’s also pretty heavy.
Now I have to source a Go Pro mount and other pieces to mount it to my helmet.
My vote so far: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ maybe even 2 1/2 stars out of 5
hi sir; this light operate while charging ?
These lights are highly functional but they only last for 1 year (I have had 3 of them) before the battery and/or the switches fail, and cannot be replaced which for the price, is ridiculous.
Cost
$100 usd! pretty sweet price!
Buying a 1300 lumen rechargeable light was MUCH more expensive even as recently as 5 years ago. I remember when it was $500. I bought mine for $129 which is still expensive but you get what you pay for. My oldest Ion light is 5 years old and still going strong.
Yeee. Este video no puede ser en castellano
dude crashed and burned @ :54
Those darn bulky batteries provide much longer life and are replaceable.
Bontrager your product has serious design flaws.
The charging cable is literally 4 inches long, grossly inadequate. This necessitates removing the Ion Pro RT from the handlebars in order to charge it. Fine except for the fact that it’s extremely difficult to remove from the actual mount. I’ve squeezed, pressed, twisted, poked and finessed the plastic lever but that thing just refuses to slip out of its mount. No way I’m forcing that bit of fragile plastic. Not intuitive at all!
So, as you can’t get the unit off the bike once mounted, you’re left with having to balance an extension lead on top of the handlebars to recharge the thing. Great, except for you putting the recharging port on the front underside where it’s really hard to get to and impossible to see which way round the cable head needs to face. So factor in several minutes of random poking around before the micro USB cable slips in.
On a $165 piece of kit these stupid design flaws are taking the proverbials.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. The Ion Pro does come with a short cable for charging indoors as it was not designed to be charged on the bike. You can use any charging Micro-USB cable with the Ion Pro, however.
Yeah i was about to say, removing the lights from my mounts takes less than 3 seconds. Are you pressing down on the plastic release then sliding the light out? It's as simple as that so i'm not sure what you're doing wrong...
The charging cable is a simple Micro USB cable, If you're spending $150 on a light, I'm sure you can spring for a longer $5 cable, not sure why you'd need one especially when it's sitting still while charging.
Sounds like user error to me ngl
Yeah I finally figured it out everybody. I just didn’t want to force the plastic lever and accidentally break it. Once off the handlebars I could charge it through the watertight rubber plug. But I did buy a longer extension cable for charging as the one it comes with is kinda short and pathetic. All pretty simple. It’s actually a really great bike light and extremely powerful on the highest beam. I’ve actually got two of them now, both mounted on my bike for those longer night rides.
@@tropicaleasyrider1 Good that your opinion changed after the little annoyances, it's honestly such a powerful light it's insane, part of me also wants to buy the Transmitter accessory to control all my lights easily. The only thing I get concerned about is blinding people on a shared path
I just hate it when there are no clear instructions provided as in the case of this product and the thing is made of plastic. It’s so easy to break the plastic when fiddling with things trying to get them off. If you don’t know there’s a release catch you are going to force it too much. And once they’re broken that’s $160 wasted!
