  • The 68th Annual Ocala/Marion County Christmas parade.
The annual event draws 60,000-plus spectators to East Silver Springs Boulevard, many whom stake claim to seats days ahead of time along the two-mile parade route. This year’s parade is themed “Star Spangled Christmas” and involves over 2,000 riders, marchers, and other participants.
Approximately 100 units including floats, marching bands, dance troupes, baton twirling groups, motorcycle units, and equine entries are taking part this year. The line-up also includes local dignitaries, military units, business owners, and dozens of other community groups.
Parade commentators this year include 15-year veteran host Kevin Christian and newcomers Theresa Boston-Ellis and Suzanne McGuire -- all representing Marion County Public Schools.
These broadcasts are offered as a community service by Marion County Public Schools and paid for with private funding. The Ocala/Marion County Christmas Parade is organized by the Friends of the Christmas Parade, a non-profit organization made up of community volunteers.
