I watched proko classes about this topic , and it helped me understand this topic in depth but your video really helped me visualising the shapes on a gesture drawing ., thanks boss
Yea that can be difficult! I would simplify and just suggest the forms & features, rather than fully rending them. By this I mean you could suggest the nose with just a simple drop shadow, or the eyes could be in shadow because of the sockets and then you just add highlights for the white of the eye. When the head is that size you don't need much for the brain to fill in the blanks! Hope this helps a little :)

Gosh im such an oddball i just go straight to boxes and shapes to draw...i suck at gesture drawing everything i draw starts out as basic shapes.
