The city has been a well-known pilgrimage center since the 17th century and is one of the main centers of the cult of Virgin Mary, associated with the Piekary Picture. Piekary is considered by many to be "the spiritual capital of Upper Silesia". Every year in May and August, state pilgrimages to the sanctuary of the Mother of Justice and Social Love in Piekary take place, gathering thousands of pilgrims on Calvary Hill.
There are the following parishes in Piekary Slaskie:

Our Lady of Aids of the Faithful Parish Church in Dąbrówka Wielka

Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul in Kamień
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish Church in Kozlowa Góra
Holy Family Parish in Wieczorek Estate
Parish Church of the Holy Trinity in Szarlej
These parishes belong to Katowice Archdiocese and Piekary Slaskie Decanate.

Piekary to piękne Śląskie miasto. Nawet mają swoje radio i dzięki niemu na bieżąco wiemy co się dzieje w Piekarach.
