    @fairygrrl45 Před 2 lety +94

Yup. I waited a year and half to watch it because I knew it would wreck me. Since the first dance I ever saw them do, I knew there was something otherworldly going on, something cosmic. And that's not me being hyperbolic. This film is something I deeply connect to, having been on a similar journey of spiritual awakening through my connection to someone else. They're so young, I can't imagine going through something so enormous at such a young age, but the beauty of it is now they have the rest of their lives together in peace.
But the questions asked and themes explored here are so profound and touch me deeply because I've gone through every single stage that Sean tells the story of. I know it's all layered and for sure there are things he's expressing that I've missed, but it really spoke to me. The fear of loving someone so deeply, of letting them go, of trying to figure out who you are without them. The doubt that plagued me, not only about who I am and what I'm here for, but about my feelings for this other person. About what our connection was and what it meant.
I could FEEL when Kaycee came back and they danced to Ocean Eyes the joy and bliss and completion. Whenever they align in that mirrored dancing you can FEEL the connection. It's Divine. And then they separate again and it's devastating. And I've been in that dark night of the soul, that place where there's nothing but pain and you don't know who you are or why you're here when they're gone. And then the awakening, the remembering. The soul-level remembering. Because we have to remember to find out who we truly are.
And then all the questioning, your mind trying to make sense of it all. I've been through that. When he asked "Why would she leave me? Did I do something wrong?" I straight up cried. Because that constant running and chasing is SO exhausting. And then you ARE at war with yourself because your head says to move on, to let them go, to stand on your own. And you start wondering if you're asking for too much, that they give you too much. If it's wrong to feel so empty without them. If you're not supposed to hold on so tightly. And then you shut yourself down, you close yourself off because it just hurts when they leave. And there's no guarantee they'll stay because they're always running. And sometimes, so are you.
There's this ancient dance of these energies, the divine feminine and masculine; it's never-ending. Just like dark and light, doubt and hope, giving and receiving. Pushing and pulling, back and forth, trying to get free from one another, never able to get far. It hurting when you're far, it hurting when you're close. And it's this process of evolution through all of that. Through the pain, the fear, the doubt, the darkness, the noise, through fighting with yourself.
And we come out the other side and realize that love is all that's real, when it's unconditional. And it's our natural state of being. So, we let ourselves be vulnerable, and we let ourselves be in pain (go through the dark), and we ourselves apologize, and forgive, and heal and then finally, hopefully open up to the realest and most divine love we could never imagine experiencing.
The purity of this narrative, the emotionality, the sacredness....it blew me away. When he said "you're the missing piece", I cried for the second time. There are so many of us learning how to be independent and love ourselves fully alone, and that's a beautiful journey. But some of us are here to learn to accept the exact opposite, which is that we didn't spring into being alone, that we're part of a greater connectivity and it's okay to need that connection. It's okay to feel it makes you whole.

I really feel the need to response on this comment and the film as whole.
First of all, thank you for writing this extensive comment and Sean thank you for creating this masterpiece. Accidentally I stumbled upon this comment through an instagram story post of Sean, not being aware of this movie at all. Lately, I had a very negative relationship with Instagram wanting to step out of that world. But now I can really see the beauty of it again, because without a subtle scroll throughout my stories I would never have read this comment and watch this video, which is the most appreciated encounter of the past few months. (I have teary eyes while writing this.)
Me and my ex had a harsh past. We were scarred by experiences in the first twenty-one years of our life which led to big emtional bagagage. Although the subject of the issues differed, we were able to find each other, understand each others pain and support each other in carrying each others baggage and provide love. Finally, the load was not so heavy anymore and life started to treat us well.
Three years later including one year of living together (four months ago), she broke up and said goodbye. Never ever in my life have I felt so bad as when she packed her stuff and left the house to her mom's. I felt so alone and experienced the worst weeks of my life. That loneliness is something I will never forget and hits me everytime I think about it.
Slowly I tried to pull myself together. Distract my mind and body from the heartbreaking situation that I felt twenty-four hours a day, seven days in the week. I started to write and analyse everything that has happened. Really tried to understand what she has said in the last conversations and truly listen to the deeper meaning behind those words and what they mean to me.
This most deep level of sadness and pain, awakened my spirituality. As someone who went fast paced through life without taking any breaks, there was no room for emotions and healing. Therefore, the bag stayed heavy. I did not work to make my bag lighter. Too bad I only realised my own shortcomings when she was not carrying it anymore.
Being in a safe environment with unconditional love made me spoiled and made me blind to the fact that you can also lose it again. Finally, my bag is becoming lighter. Through spiritual harmony between my thoughts, actions and the deeper meaning inside me, I am removing pieces from my bag bit by bit.
Currently, I am in the end of scene six and in the start of scene seven when encountering this video. Seeing the movie I am literally blown away emotionally. I feel a deep connection with this movie because it touches all main topics from what I experienced in my own personal live. I can finally accept that it is okay to have doubts and fears. To yearn for her attention while also trying to let her go. Such contradicting feelings make you insecure about which actions to take. Through this movie I feel supported and wiser. It reinforces my evolution.
      - Again, thank you for taking the time and effort to write this comment because it clarifies what I am seeing.-
      - Thank you Sean for creating this modern masterpiece of art.-
^These two in combination are the most beautiful gift I received in a long time.

JR, thank you so much for putting into words everything I also thought, felt, and experienced with Sean’s film. I found S&K just a few months prior to the film’s release and was instantly a fan, although fan doesn’t seem like the right word. I’ve always loved creative works, especially dance, and even more so when it’s used to communicate. But, my goodness, watching them has moved me beyond my own comprehension. I’ve rarely felt so tuned in to a dance the way I am when watching them. They convey so much feeling in what they do. This film was just beyond words for so many reasons. You summed them up so perfectly. Even down to the “unsaid words” and tears I shed. I’m not sure how someone so young has such an incredible ability to speak to the heart and soul, of people at any age, with such clarity and brevity! The last scene was truly incredible. From the moment he realizes she’s been the “missing piece” and when he panics at her anger, it appears he says I can’t do this without you and that just shattered me. His ability to figure out that she, and what she brings to his life, is a crucial piece of his existence. And love (while perhaps not the type he wanted or expected maybe?) is literally EVERYTHING in life and how we survive everything else. I’m sure we all interpreted much of this slightly differently, and that’s the expectation, but I do hope that one universal message was heard and felt by all and that is to never stop giving your love and yourself, regardless of the way it’s received, because of fear. There is so much good and beauty in being able to just let go and accept that! Likewise, to release our own expectations and rules for what we are willing to receive back. We can’t control that and that is ok :-)
I’m forever grateful for the existence of Sean Lew in this crazy world. I hope he has the most fulfilling life possible and never loses his light. He’s a gift to us all.

    My interpretation:
Sean and Kaycee played a couple who broke up… both had cuts and scars from each other since the beginning, and because of their youth, lacked experience and feared the outside world, until Kaycee decided to walk away from the abuse and find herself.
The message is that before you can fully give yourself to someone, before you can find balance in a friendship or a relationship, you must first find balance within yourself and conquer the questions and fears which haunt you the most.
We can see the main character grow as he goes through each scenario, finding out who he is and gaining independence and helping others after losing his love, so that he can truly accept who he is and forgive the mistakes that they both made while processing and going through the steps of what caused them to break up in the first place… and he wanted to do that to build himself up again and eventually make up for the things he did.
It’s really a beautiful story. At the beginning, I thought it was odd, but as I’m watching all of this, I’m falling more and more in love with the characters and… although there are no spoken words, there is still a story! I love this work

I was just searching through dance videos on CZcams when I found this incredible masterpiece!
I am a filmmaker and a dancer too, and I knew for a while that both dance and film are forms of storytelling that help express one's personality. However, I would never think that these two completely different forms of art can exist together and work so well.
It's not just a film and a dance, it is a new form of art! It is the philosophy of life. It is an expression of a person and their thoughts through movements (of body, or of the camera, or both!).
It feels so personal. The questions, the dances, the thoughts. How many times have I asked myself the same questions! But I'm still searching for answers.
Thank you so much for sharing your discoveries with the world!
It is a mind-opening, astonishing, definitely worth-watching piece that not only shows personal self-discoveries but also helps discover yourself!

Scene 3 reminds me of how we can be bound by society's guidelines and when we break free it can feel beyond scary at first, and can be hard work, but then it is GLORIOUS. (They say we can be flooded with the most doubts right before we're about to embark on something great!)
The end of scene 7 suddenly gave me zuko vibes
Last scene made my ball my eyes out over my last partner, something that hasn't happened in a while.also significant at the end of last scene there was no outline/ plan on Sean’s stand- which can represent how when we fall in love, so much is about surrender.
(more observations to come as I watch ;))
So far: WOW Sean. This is tantalizing and beautiful. The patience in this movie and the long scenes are something that i've been craving to see visually again. Also, the ability of body language (93% of our communication) to hit deep is .... damn.

Wow... I'm a bit speechless, but I will try to gather my thoughts. It took me on a journey, definitely. The emotions you were able to create and evoke in me...you captived nearly all of my senses. The water, the colors, the chirping transported me to those place. I was there. The anxiety I had from the war&peace chapter nearly crushed me...but the slightest of smiles at the end there gave me...hope, I guess. I was able to exhale in that moment. The give&take chapter was so levitating but hurt so much too. So personal.... I felt deeply so many moments in this whole art piece. I found myself in some of those moments. The tree house chapter was just masterpiece. I can't even explain my feelings that I went through. I just... I felt it. All of it.
You are genius, Sean Lew. I know I shouldn't be that surprised, but you amazed me...once again. I will gladly give your work another hour of my life and many more!
Much love to you and your beautiful partner in this spectacular crime 😊
You touched one girl all the way in Czech Republic and she is very grateful ❤️

for me, the last scene has no drawing because Kaycee was the missing piece, And when he found her as his partner at "wrong words"(their first official dance video together) video, everything was complete! This makes sense because the last part, where they take the fabric with the phrases "where there is love ..." "There is life", Which may mean that he/they found love (as friends or not, it doesn't matter) and the missing piece for him to feel complete. And there are two perceptions, two pieces that need each other to be happy... That was my conclusion until now, I'm sure I'll watch it again and notice something new! Just my theory. :)

“Is it the truth of being accepted, or accepting the truth behind your fears?” damn.

This film holds a depth, unlike anything I have seen before. The raw emotion; the pain and suffering, the healing, and the acceptance create a relatability beyond words. Sean has the talent to hold hands with the world around him. He has the beautiful maturity and capability to take the time to understand the experiences he has had and has seen others have. This is shone boldly through not only this film but his work in general. Although this film is relatable, the bigger takeaway is the moments of vulnerability Sean has shared with his community. He has walked through his doubts, and questions that guide him. He has cracked a window into his mind and through this, we have all learned at least a little more about ourselves. We have all felt reassured and understood. Sean has captured the vital lessons that help mold humanity and has expressed the journey of this without uttering a word. I’d argue that this film conveys these messages stronger than any literature or song might attempt to. Through the art of dance, the feelings all of us share, have been communicated and cradled with love, without the convoluted language of humanity. Sean’s talent is truly immeasurable.
