  • Today, less than 5% of medical images show dark skin. This lack of representation has potential to negatively affect the quality of healthcare for BIPOC communities.
Illustrate Change is a new initiative that aims to increase diversity and representation in medical illustrations. The initiative includes a growing library of diverse medical illustrations, a fellowship to support the future of medical illustrators of color, and an awareness campaign to help bring lasting change in the U.S. healthcare system and vision for a more inclusive future for patients of color.Illustrate Change is part of Johnson & Johnson’s Our Race to Health Equity (ORTHE), a bold commitment to create a world where the color of your skin is not a determinant of your access to care, quality of care or health outcomes. The new project is presented in collaboration with illustrator Chidiebere Ibe, Deloitte and the Association of Medical Illustrators. Learn more about the initiative and see the full library at www.IllustrateChange.com. Read more information about the AMI Fellowship at www.ami.org.
