McINERNEY - VIETNAM

The “Veterans Stories” series features Metro Area Vietnam Veterans sharing their personal experiences from the Vietnam War. The nine veterans who shared their experiences are: Lee Blackmon, Decker A. Decker, Jack McCormack, John McInerney, Guy Palumbo, Steve Tagg, Joseph Giannini, Michael Sulsona and Michael Mullarkey.
A very special and poignant portrayal of soldiers serving their country who upon returning from a job well done never heard: “Welcome Home”.

I served with the 9th infantry division in 1968 and it wasn't what everyone think it was. The heavy combat i was exposed to gave me sleeping disorders and i can still hear combat some nights before bed.

My friend, teacher and neighbor did three tours in Vietnam. He said, one day he was walking point and then three days later he was back in San Jose, CA. He suffered from that war everyday. God bless you Amador.

Thank you for your service. Even today we have communist countries that want to take over their neighbor. North Vietnam over the South, and Russia over Ukraine. A fellow Vietnam veteran I Corp. Phu Bai/Hue/Khe Sanh 1967-1969. I am very proud of what we did.

John was sent to GITMO be for he went to Viet Nam. I was sent to GITMO after I came back from Viet Nam. Talk about deflating , I was walking patrol on a Monday night and five days later I was walking in a mall in Rhode Island with my first wife. All I could think of is this place is to bright and you people are making to much noise . I was a nervous wreck. I will never forgive the American people or our government for the way VN vets where treated. I am a patriot and proud Marine.
