North Yorkshire Moors Railway Autumn Steam Gala 2023 - 50th Anniversary

- Another “first” for me this year would be the 186 mile trip to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for the 50th anniversary steam gala.
Visiting locomotives were:
LNER A4 60007 “Sir Nigel Gresley” from the SNGLT.
BR Standard 4mt 75069 from the Severn Valley Railway
BR standard 9F 92214 from the Great Central Railway
Caledonian Railway 55189 from Scottish Railway Preservation Society
The home fleet would consist of
LMS Black 5 5428 “Eric Treacy”
SR Schools Class 926 “Repton”
BR standard 9F 92134
BR standard 4mt tank 80135 (as 80116)
LNER P3/J27 2392 (65894)
Lambton tank 29 “Peggy”
Cockerill steam tram 8 “Lucie”
Travelling up on the Friday I made my way to Grosmont to get a feel for the place and check out some locations. I bumped into some friends here who I hadn’t seen for a while who kindly took me around a few of the locations, thanks to Liam and Phil @MarshSteamVideosTM. After grabbing a few shots around Grosmont, moorgates and Darnholme I finished off with a shot of 75069 leaving Grosmont past the sheds. I was going to leave this shot out as somebody leaned over into she shot but the soundtrack was too good not to include. After heading to the pub for a couple of pints I settled down for the night.
Starting early Saturday I made my way up the rail trail to Goathland filming at different locations along the way. Some of the highlights of Saturday had to be the double headed 9Fs and 75069 slogging up past Darnholme.
Sunday was riding the trains but I managed one shot of 29 “Peggy and 2392 double heading past the cottages at grosmont before the long journey back to the midlands. The only locos I wasn’t able to fill were 5428 Eric treacy and Lucie.

13:25 The Caley Tank with GW saloon was very popular with the crowds at Grosmont.
Suppose I’ll hafta get a Hornby M7 and pretend it’s a Caley.
The way new ready to run locos are being released I wouldn’t be surprised if one is produced in the next few years. The cale tank was probably the star attraction
