The courage to be disliked is a life changing book, if there ever was one.
And I do not say that lightly. As someone who has spent a good few years reading, devouring & digesting multiple non fiction books, of the self help kind, of the philosophy kind, of the psychology kind etc, I have a certain level of discernment now when it comes to recommending books.
This book is, in fact, the most recent addition to my list of favourite books.
In this episode of the unlearning playground podcast, I wanted to get into a brief summary of what the courage to be disliked is all about and why I recommend it (and in fact also gift it) to almost everyone looking for some must read books.
I also share 4 key powerful unlearnings (read life lessons) I think everyone should gather from this book, so even if I am not able to encourage you enough to pick this book for yourself, at least spend 14 minutes with me on this video so that you get a glimpse of the nectar it has to offer.
If I'm able to encourage you enough, please check out the book on Amazon from here - amzn.to/3XfBtsW

The book I'm covering in this video (The courage to be disliked) - amzn.to/3XfBtsW
True that. I have read this book and the concept of separating tasks is impressive. This book can moreover make you a selfish being(in a good way). You'll learn to focus on yourself rather than worrying about the world.
That is a very good observation indeed. You need to become selfish in that sense, and then, expand the idea of your "self". All of spirituality, in essence, has that understanding at its root - the oneness (with Life) that your small, separate, afraid "self" can arrive at, and then act from that perspective. This book does a brilliant job of taking the reader there.
"Hello good people of the internet " this made my day.... I'm in 9th grade and today I woke up at 5am, having a productive morning... before going to school I clicked on your video, and you said that intro....it somehow made me feel so happy and good.... thank you.
Great video btw 👍
And your comment just made my day!

I loved your speech delivery, i could sense the calm of an avid reader.
Thank you for seeing and appreciating that. Keep sharing the love! ✌️💚
The book is based on the theory of Austrian psychologist Adler. This is very interesting book written in the style of plato’s dialogue. This hits at the very perspective of a views commonly held. Nice video, keep it up.❤
Thank you for your graceful comment. I personally resonate a lot with this book too, as is evident from the video as well. You’re quite right in saying that it is contrarian to a lot of commonly held opinions, and in talking about it, it holds true to its name by exhibiting “the courage to be disliked”.
Hope to interact more with you on my channel here. Welcome to The Unlearning Playground. ✌️💚

Wow, I got my hands around this book a while ago, and I've only read half of it, but I couldn't agree more with what you said. The dialogue between two people was slightly triggering for me as I read it and also unpleasant in a way because you have to swallow some hard facts, but if you continue to read it, it will be surprisingly eye-opening and genuinely a must read. Thank you for articulating so nicely. Watching your video for the first time definitely going to subscribe.
Thank you for saying what you said. Keep sharing the love! ✌️💚
Great video and the quote you mentioned in life lesson 4 reminded me of another quote probably they mean the same so it goes as "society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade of which they know they shall never sit in "
That’s it! ✌️
Thank u sir...the review is awesome...keep going sir....so inspiring
Thanks a lot for your kind, positive words. Keep sharing the love! 💚
Just picked up and this book and was immediately triggered by “do not live to satisfy the expectations of others” as in my life I’ve always tried to live by others expectations on me and have many regrets in the past for decisions I made based on others opinions
I am super glad you found this book then. And also my channel. 😉
This channel will grow, it has to
best of luck brother,
btw loved the book
Thanks a lot for your kind words brother! Keep sharing the love! 💚
Love that you loved the book. ✌️
Thanks for reviewing this wonderful book.
For someone who’s not read the book, some of the ideas in it are - (1) happiness is linked to finding out that one is worthy, which in turn is linked to the idea / realisation that I am ‘beneficial to the community’
(2) superiority complex is inferiority complex in disguise
(3) have the courage to be disliked
(4) being praised or being rebukes, both aren’t helpful for you, reject both
Glad the book and the video resonated with you. ✌️🙂
Chetan, loved the review, man! The authenticity of your energy just comes through. the part where you offered your criticism about the potential pitfall of hero worshipping is interesting, the book does portray Adler as a bit of an authoritative figure. Your video inspired me to do a review on my channel. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Well, thanks a lot for your kind words. Really appreciate your appreciation.
