  • Browsing eBay as you do I found an awfully listed sale with poor photos and no detail. I took a gamble!

05:30 'Love cats' by The Cure, I believe. And 'I'm not scared' by Patsy Kensit, written and produced by the Pet Shop Boys.

The old school TDK SA cassettes had a black shell, with gold foil labels, which always looked quite classy. As did their AD and AR cassettes. They also had good mechanisms, and rarely did the reels become stiff, unlike the TDK D cassettes, which were horrible.
Sony UX & UX-S cassettes were quite good too, as were the higher end Maxell cassettes.
I never liked Memorex, as they always sounded DUFF on most Japanese branded decks without bias adjust. And they seemed to lose what little top end they had after being played a few times.
My brother used Memorex Type 1's to do his bootleg copies of NTWICM compilations to sell at boot fairs back in the day, as Memorex were always the cheapest, and available in packs of 10 from the cash n carry.

Really nice score for 11 quid. I get stupidly excited going through mystery boxes of used tapes from ebay too. It's a voyage of discovery; usually some crud but hopefully some goodies. The Sonys are usually great, same for Fuji. The Boots CP were rebranded Maxell UDII I think, excellent tapes. And the Technics and Nakamichi are great for the collector value or just to look at. Little bits of history. Enjoy your recordings and thanks for the vids.

Hey thanks I appreciate it, I don't hold out a lot of hope for good recordings on the nakamichi and technics ones. But great for the shelf. The BBC ones are superb though, cheap and underrated. Not had a bad one yet!

You'll find a lot of it useful, but it takes time to sort it out
