  • Trying to film AND take down carriage numbers is quite difficult which is why you hear me dictating them on the sound track!!
At Dublin Connolly, a train is shunted into the station whilst a DART train arrives. A push-pull set arrives pushed by 123. We see another push-pull set hauled by 124 awaiting departure time.
At Greystones, we see a double-headed train depart for Rosslare Harbour as two photographers walk back along the track to the station. 188 enters the station with a Rosslare Harbour to Dubin Connolly train. Seen from the train, we then are taken over Bray Head.
At Sligo Station, the arrival from Dublin Connolly is made ready for its return to Dublin.
Back to Dublin Connoly, we see an "A" Class 047 standing at the head of a train and then see the Postal Vans Shunted into the station by 176. The "A" class whistles loudly and departs. 176 then draws forward, awaits signals and then departs.
Seen at Limerick Station, a steam heated carriage leaks steam into the compartment.
At Limerick Junction we see a Limerick Train simmering in the station making ready to depart for Limerick as a brand new 200 class locomotive draws into the station with a Dublin Heuston to Cork Train.
On board a train from Limerick to Rosslare Harbour, we enter Limerick Junction Station, pass a Limerick bound train in the bay platform, go around the back and then shunt into the bay platform at the Cork end of the station.
Back at Cork, we see a train leaving hauled by 158.

Well done for capturing this amazing railway heritage, now sadly gone. Beautiful trains and carriages, awesome sounds and leaving the current rolling stock and railway experience in the shadows. Thank you.

You are most welcome! I enjoyed my trips across to Ireland back then. I'm sure if I were to re-visit the CIE, things would be very different now!

Great to see a Waterford train going into platform 4 at Limerick Junction.

Platform 4 is no longer used. Shame we only saw 2/5s of the 5 point turn. Propelling over the level crossing, behind the back of the station, used to always make me chuckle. Listening to the signalman at the North Box ring the block instruments and slam the levers always meant you knew when the Rosslare train was due.

What a treat to see the legendary Limerick Junction headshunt approach and train reverse maneuver into a platform! Thank you.

I think the track joints were staggered, hence the unique sound.
