Personally I like all the characters involved in this. They just need to do what they do. I enjoy getting sports debates from these different angles (Marcellus, Max, Stephen A and Whitlock).

I respectfully disagree with your position regarding Max trying to manipulate the audience into questioning Stephen A.'s blackness. I think Max's professional relationship with Stephen A., was that of a victim to a bully. Max was often disrespected by SAS on almost a daily basis. He frequently talked down on him not being an expert on the subjects at hand and visibly looked miffed when Max had intuitive analysis on racial issues - more profound than his own.
So when the time came that T.O. was a guest on the show and stated that many black people view Max as "blacker" than SAS, Max had every reason to feel validated or sit back with popcorn and watch it play out. But instead he was noticeably uncomfortable and did not, nor has not, supported the statement.
I think it just boils down to Max being a more professional and more classy man than Stephen A. After all, SAS has spoken on Max for over a year in outside interviews and we STILL haven't heard from Max on it ONCE.
