The most popular song of all times from Led Zeppelin’s fourth album, ‘Stairway to
Heaven’ didn’t make the charts, because it was never released as a single for the
public. It was only the radio stations that received the single that soon went to
become a collectible for the lucky ones.
On Tuesday 13 November 2007, the whole Led Zeppelin catalog became available as
legal digital download, making every song suitable for the UK single chart. As a
result, at the end of that week the original version of ‘Stairway To Heaven’ reached
the UK single chart for the first time.
Before that, there were three cover versions: by the multinational band Far
Corporation, whose 1985 version ended up in #8, the tribute reggae version of Dread
Zeppelin reached #62 in 1991 and, finally, Rolf Harris’ reprise surpassed the other
two by reaching #7 in 1993.
Led Zeppelin began creating ‘Stairway To Heaven’ in early 1970 when they decided
to make a new epic song to replace ‘Dazed And Confused’ as the main track of their
live shows. Jimmy Page would work on the song in an 8 track studio he had
established in his boathouse, trying out different parts on guitar. Until April he told
journalists that their new song might be 15 minutes long and described it something
that would reach its climax with John Bonham’s drums not appearing for a certain
length of time. In October 1970, after almost 18 months of touring, the song was
finally ready. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant explained that they started working on
the song in a 250-year-old countryhouse in Wales that is called ‘Bron-yr-Aur
(pronounced “Bron-rar”), where they wrote the Led Zeppelin III album.
The lyrics refer to a woman that collects money only to discover in the hardest way that
her life is pointless and it would not get her in heaven. Robert Plant said that is was actually referring to “a woman that got everything she wanted without giving anything in return”.
Robert Plant- vocals, harmonica
Jimmy Page - electric and acoustic guitar
John Paul Jones - bass, electric piano, mandolin, recorders, synthesizer
John Bonham - drums

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven
There's a sign on the wall, but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven
You know
There's a feeling I get when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking
That's you
And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter
Remember laughter?
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah...
And it makes me wonder
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the May queen
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on
Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know
The piper's calling you to join him
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind?
And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all is one and one is all, that's what it is
To be a rock and not to roll, oh yeah
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

The first time I bought this album was in 1976 on 8-track. The track changed in the middle of this song. Then in 1990 I bought this 4 cd Led Zeppelin box set and it skipped on 1 song. Of course it was Stairway To Heaven!! Why me??!! 😡😡😡🎸🎸🎸 Great song though!! In the movie Wayne's World at this guitar shop they yelled can't you read?? NO STAIRWAY was posted on the wall!! 😃😃😃
You will notice the change of the 1200GR to 1210G, and the change of the 2MBlack to 2M Black LVB 250.
@@vinylvoice Oh yea the G. In the US it's $4,000.00. The GR is $1700.00. I'm still happy with my GR. I did spend $3,000.00 on my new Yamaha integrated amp. I'm about done. Might get some new speakers to replace the Kenwoods I bought in 1976. They still sound good. My next purchase I'm thinking of getting the Degritter RCM. It's expensive 3 grand. But it sure looks like it cleans records very well!! With my profession I'm not home enough to enjoy my stereo and my music collection. Keep on rocking in the free world as Neil Young sings!! 🎸🎸🎸
I have a cheap one the Project VC-S2 alu and I am pleased
I read very good reviews for the Degritter Ultrasonic record cleaner but expensive for washing machine.
What is that plate in the center of the record?

May I ask is your Dynavector 20x2 a Low Output or High Output cartridge? I'm looking into the low output as I play classic rock and classic country the most. I plan to pair with the Graham Slee Reflex C MC Low Output phono stage.
No, mine is High Output, the Low is marked "Low" with red color, Thank's for watching.🎸🎸🎸
А вам не кажется что объективно оценить разницу между этими картриджами можно только на одном материале. Dynavector 20x2 конечно получше.
Да, у меня такое же впечатление, как у вас. Спасибо за просмотр видео. 🎸🎸🎸
