I have had this TV Watch since 1988, and I wouldn't give it up for any price. It is just a nice collector item and who knows what it will fetch in the years to come. Other than that, it's just going to stay in my family, or sold to a collector when my time is up on earth. My mom got it for me as a Christmas gift in 1988. A man from NY brought it to my town after my mom had searched for one. He said it was a display model in some famous NY store. She paid $150 for it!
Its a novelty watch and the ad doesn’t show that you have a wire running from the watch to a receiver you carry in your pocket. Plus it’s impractical to be looking at your wrist for an extended period of time as it would put a lot of strain on your shoulder muscles. Nonetheless, if you were 10 years old it would have been the coolest watch at school.
+Fasizan well, think that the term of LCD screen for TV's was not that common back then. LCD displays have become very common in the past 10-15 years. Back then the pc's we're mostly in B/W cathodic tubes. It seems preety clear to me for that time. I thought it was a mini cathodic tube in there but it's lcd wow.
"In the movie Octopussy, James Bond is never without it" Funnily enough If I remember correctly, while it is in the movie, he never wears the TV watch.
They finally invented a self contained colors t.v watch....NO BATTERY PACK OR TUNER NEEDED.....I used it for 2 years until February 10 2010....the day all my pocket t.v by Casio became usual.....I hope they bring back the watch T.V . again in digital.
Of course they conveniently don't show the brick of a TV tuner that you have to carry around with it in order to receive TV .. still, neat idea for way back then.
What?, a watch where you can watch tv, it's a joke, it dates from 1983, it's barely possible to watch tv on a smartphone or tablet these days, it's barely been a few years since it's possible, and to the point, and a watch that can do it from 1983, the first watch I have where you can watch tv is the Lokomat applp??? weird.

@@Phillipelewis lol...when I see that amount in my bank account, I'll immediately send you the watch!
@@rudylittlewolf How about $500 bucks?
@@RG-si1qz Nah, I'm not up for selling it at the moment. :)
@@RG-si1qz there's one on ebay for $515
This is actually pretty incredible for the 1980’s. Wow.
ハイビジョン4Kテレビウォッチなどが生まれてくるんじゃ有りませんかな。
This is the coolest piece or tech ive ever seen
Holy shit, the roots of iwatch dates back to 1983.
johneygd Yeah ! When I saw it in the movie I thought its just a movie effect. But no. These really exist. Ill bet that it works better than iWatch :D.
It's not tied to I anything don't be stupid
Jen pro moje potěšení The images on the screen of the watch in the movie were movie magic.
everything cool tek dates back to the 1980's or 1880's
In the 1940s, they had a Dick Tracy 2-way wristwatch radio that was a TV.
remember seeing in 1982-1983 in Omaha Nebraska USA at Crossroads Shopping Mall Jewelry store
What do you mean, Doc? All the best stuff is made in Japan
1980 this the smartwatch. This is beyond their time
The first LCD indeed. Wow!!!!
Thank you, I'll be talking about this on the next episode of the podcast. Pb
Damn imagine having this in 1983. You' d have to be a coke dealer or sumn lol

It does show it actually, it's just never mentioned, and you have to look for it lol. They kind of just push it under the rug.
There’s always someone with a complaint in this world
@@CH-zp2rh it's not a complaint it's an observation
@@CH-zp2rh how is it a complaint to put out an objective fact?
Orginal watch is black-white. This coloured one is ad.
With a 'clear' liquid crystal screen lmao

@Mind Virus dont get me wrong I do like the watch. It's awesome!
F. It was for 1983 that was cutting edge technology
But... does it run Doom?
Sure
I love digital watches, Seiko,Casio, pulsar,citizen
Fantastico...
This is a good one of the capitalism
So they had LCD video displays since the 80's?
yes they did, even real smartphones with touchscreens
edit: LCD stands for liquid-Crystal-Display
we all say this wrong
LCD was invented in 1968

I wanted one so bad. My Apple Watch can show my phone camera for a photo, or gifs or video from social but can't to TV? CMON
So beautiful
It's a shame the U.S. switched to all digital signals so now all the pocket tv's are worthless
isn't there a wireles set top box, like a pirate radio transmitter just in tv?
You can enjoy it in South America. Lol

They should make a DVB-T / ATSC version.
Who would use that obsolete thing nowadays anyway?
today I learned what LCD stands for. Oh my.
This watch was in HACF season 1
Fucking Awesome

Holy shit, this is more advanced than any watch I’ve seen in 2020.
Really??
I keep on thinking that eventually technology will catch up to the 1980s. Unfortunately, politically we are in 1984.
fabulous fabulous
For me this was the future, not stupid smart watches from today.
Ads even sounded better back then!
old watch its very unic
Waw old times.
And now I’m watching this commercial on my phone which is far more advanced.
C'était le top de la technologie !
I Had one of those!
Sure you did, loser.
haha "the future" only now are we catching up.
It would be nice if this had a projector for a wall
yo tengo uno en excelente estado !!!!! terrible
That watch was expensive.
The Jetsons came true!
Something only the rich kids had back in the day.
Impresionante incluso ahora ni eso.veo quisiera una tv en mi.reloj

Nice good seiko watch
You can see only shadows and ghosts
I would never believe it existed
who is here looking at this in 1999
Well hello me 10 years from now
WOW
I own one i wear it sometimes mint condition
That narrator sounds like a very young Patrick Stewart. Is it?
It actually sounds like Christopher Lee.
A la perga dijo el san jony
I got one but no receiver or anything
Dragnet
Sorry))) it dates back to 1982))) you are one year shy. Soon I'll show my collection of vintage gadget watches. Including this one
Octopussy was 1983, obviously that's the date of the advert, not the watch.
You just can't say "Octopussy" with dignity.
I mean in that case, why not just watch on that brick as a TV. lol
