That’s what happened to Miley irl, that she felt like people only loved Hannah and didn’t even know her… it’s kinda creepy how the show turned the whole situation into real life, kinda. We obviously recognized her lol. But looking back on it now, we can totally see the troubles that come with having a double life, and how no kid should have to live like that. And it did fuck with miley’s mental health a lot in real life
Especially the episode where she does experiment with different music styles and the one she she chose is rock😅
That was the premise of the show so it can’t really be creepy
and even when she was done with Disney people still recognized her as Hannah Montana even when she started releasing more adult songs nobody took her seriously I'm glad she's seen as Miley Cyrus now
I feel like that’s pretty standard though .. kinda like one of the guys from big time rush being recognized as a singer for big time rush. Or Selena Gomez being recognized as Alex. Or even when an artist breaks away from a group and tries to go solo without being recognized as “fifth harmony, etc.” The only difference is Miley was a hugeee success and Hannah Montana was one of the most successful shows to ever hit disney channel. I don’t think kids really thought she was Hannah or “only liked her when she was Hannah”. They just loved her character and the music that went with the character. I don’t think Miley ever had to “live a double life.” She just played a character - a character that got her the success she was looking for and with that success came concerts, movies, etc. where yes, she had to continue playing the character just like any other star. I think her struggles came more from growing up in Hollywood with a famous family which a lot of kid actors go through, just no where near the scale that she had, especially with Billy Ray being her dad and her starting out sooo young. I mean Jason earls was 30! I know a lot of people make fun of 20 year olds playing high schoolers, but it seems like it’s a lot healthier for the stars to do it that way and wait until they’re no longer minors. Side note: it’s so weird to refer to “Hannah Montana” as just Hannah. Lol it sounds like I’m talking about a totally different person without the Montana following it. lol

She did say tho, that the premise of the show was that with a blonde wig on and heavy make up she was this superstar that everyone adored, and as Miley Stewart, who resembled her actual self a lot more she was basically a nobody. And I’m not saying that that’s actually something that anyone believed or tried to tell her. But it was something that she maybe took to heart and made her wonder and feel insecure. I mean she did talk about it just last year, so I think that’s something that stuck with her.
Miley was just so hated on and sexualized ever since she was 15, I guess that’s why this whole situation makes me feel kinda sad… and I agree, it’s probably better for 20 somethings to play teenagers. Even tho the fame of the, for example, riverdale cast isn’t comparable to those early Disney stars. Also even the ones you mentioned, Selena, Jonas brothers, big time rush… I don’t know, I still feel like Miley was on another level of fame. There was a lot more media coverage of her and Hannah Montana probably was just so much bigger than any of their shows. It was a billion dollar franchise, resting on the shoulders of a 12-18 year old. Her face was everywhere, it’s crazy if I think back on it and remember her face was in literally every store I went into and you could find her at least 20 times everyday at school. The only thing I can think of that’s similar today is frozen. That’s on everything. But good thing these girls are animated … I’m totally off topic now, this topic just rubs me the wrong way somehow, and I‘m glad when someone seems to be interested too, so I just had to vent… sorry :)

Actually the real reason why either one or both of the Disney parents dies is because Walt Disney blames himself for killing his mom. He bought her a house and she died in the house from carbon monoxide poisoning. Since then he created movies with mostly the mom missing. After he died, Disney continued to kill off one or both the parents in movies
Thats a rumour/conspiracy. The dead mom thing is traced back to grimms fairy tails, and its to create conflict, and drama, so the MC doesn't have a typical life.

For Disney channel movies with singing in, I'd say either "Lizzie McGuire the movie" or "the cheetah girls" number 2 I think has the best songs and tbh you don't really need to watch the first one to get it.

the first episode starts when Miley is in the midst of her singing career as Hannah Montanna, and is already best friends with both Oliver and Lily. There is a lot of time before that we probably didn't see. I think Hannah (the vocal coach) was referring to the fact that they didn't figure out for a long time including the time we didn't see before episode one.

Disney often pit the main stars against each other especially if they we around the same age. It was the same way with Zendaya and Bella Thorne. Made for more drama. Supposedly Miley and Selena didn't like each other.

I've never actually watched Hannah Montana, but the theme song is so iconic. Also, for a reaction, I think reacting to a whole movie is probably difficult with copyright and other stuff, but I'd definitely love to see you react to Jonathan Groff singing "Lost in the Woods." Now that was a good number.

I didn't really like the second one, but Teen Beach Movie is one of my favorites and it's so funny.

If you're looking for some Disney Channel to react to that has a lot of singing, then I'd highly recommend Lemonade Mouth! It's my favourite Disney Channel movie ever, the plot and the music are both great. And the cast is really talented 🙂

I feel like the dead mom trope absolutely hinges on the fact of a father having to navigate a teenage daughter when they themselves know nothing about being a teenage girl. So to keep the mother alive and not the father, it would be "harder" (for lack of a better word) to raise their daughter through changes that they never had. Thats just a wee bit of my 2 pennies

DCOMs with songs in them. Descendants (1, 2, and 3 but 2 has the best songs), Lemonade Mouth (Best DCOM ever made in my opinion), Zombies (Great songs) There's also a song called Wildside by Sabrina Carpenter (she's a great singer, please consider reacting to her too) and Sofia Carson (she's in Descendants). Wildside was in a DCOM but it wasn't a musical.
