    If the Texture doesn't get imported, you can also Export it separatly from Blender and drag and drop it into the Material...

    QUESTION: I found several free models on cgtrader but I can't get them to work properly.
    I can bring them into blender, and I can see there are different parts, to some guns (slide, body, mag, trigger), but when I bring them into UE4, they show up as one solid mesh. This is even if I import to blender, then export to FBX.
    Should I be exporting each part separately? That seems extremely tedious if there are lots of parts to a model.

    Mesh exports just fine into UE4, but the armature screws up and shifts the bones positions to it's parent's position, and I have no idea why.

    Do we have to do this process for a complex 3d character model? because they seem to have tons of materials

    • @MattAspland
      @MattAspland  Před 4 lety

      Yeah, the process is the same for exporting any model from Blender to Ue4. You don't have to merge everything together though, that's just for ease :)

    • @MattAspland
      @MattAspland  Před 4 lety +2

      Hi, did you use the cycles or eevee render engine, because I think cycles doesn't support exporting textures, or if it does it's a bit buggy. So try with eevee instead and see if that fixes it :)

    • @12345ches
      @12345ches Před 4 lety +2

      @@MattAspland Thanks, I think I found a solution. Blender is exporting some of the textures, but not all. So I'll probably have to bake all of them, and the export them separately.

      @@MattAspland Yeah but honestly i have promlem and i don't even know what can be broken in all this.. i just export my blender model into fbx then import it to ue4 and it's ok but when i apply to it some material in which something moves for example waves in water, there is no effect, what i get is ultra strobe, it really look simple but it's not

    • @MattAspland
      @MattAspland  Před 4 lety +1

      It could be that you need to scale the material either up or down to have it fit the mesh you are importing it on.
      Have a look here: www.google.com/search?q=ue4+material+scaling&oq=ue4+material+scaling&aqs=chrome..69i57.2991j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

    you didn t make it obvious but i noticed a problem i have when importing mashes. The hitbox are much larger then object itself. Do you know how to fix that?

    • @MattAspland
      @MattAspland  Před 3 lety

      Hey, yeah sometimes default collision from blender can be a bit messed up. But if you open up the static mesh in Unreal and then on the right scroll down until you find the collision settings, and under "Collision Complexity" change it from "Project Default" to "Use Complex Collision As Simple". That should fix the collision for you. Hope this helps :)

      @MattAspland  Před 4 lety +1

      Oh maybe I'm not sure, I think Blender does it automatically though. Some people said restarting or going to a different engine version works.
      I guess you could try with a different model to see if the problem is in Unreal or with your model you are trying to currently import.
