So the forsaken are technically doomed. Sylvanas while evil was constantly pumping up their numbers and despite them getting new leaders and establishing themselves as new Lordaeron they are literally destined for extinction in the very near future. However based on the new lore from the alpha that might soon start changing.
They are lead by the first ever light undead Calia Menethil and we didn't even know light could create undead, but even more interestingly we datamined a ton of new lightforged undead in Khaz'Algar - completely unrelated to Calia Menethil. And no not just one saviour light character but very likely a fully fledged army of light undead. The regular undeath was always a thing of misery a punishement but this new light undeath might be a second chance and something someone might want to take willingly. This could mean that the forsaken could get a huge influx of new members but not the old scourge and Sylvanas forsaken but ones created by this new light method. Are the forsaken evolving?

Would rather see some other playable undead races join the Forsaken instead of only Humans fx. Trolls, Elves and Orcs.

Zandalari trolls are already wandering around Orgrimmar, so it's not too farfetched to assume there'll be more of Zem'lan's crew joining up eventually.
There would be so little of them it would not make sense to be a playable race. But that being said we got goat warlocks so idk

We used to speculate that any Scourge who regained their Will post-Sylvanas' initial rebellion would end up with the Forsaken. Too bad nothing ever came from that idea.
Would much rather see more different types of undead like taurens, orcs, goblins etc.. like imagine a decaying orc, would look awesome.

the Forsaken have been the biggest symptom of Blizzard not being able to decide if The Horde is a group of evil marauders or misunderstood heroes since Warcraft 3.

Yes and no. The Alliance is very consistent with their morality. The horse isn’t which should’ve caused the horse to collapse if they weren’t afraid of the alliance.
Lortgemar threatened to kill Sylvanas if she even attempted to raise Belfs into undeath. That convo occurs on the beachhead during SoO raid.

Light based undead makes zero sense. If you use light to restore someone, it brings them back to life. The point of undeath being a shadowy-ish thing is that it is not true life and restoration, hence, un-death.

"When undead channel the Light, it feels (to them) as if their entire bodies are being consumed in righteous fire. Forsaken healed by the Light (whether the healer is Forsaken or not) are effectively cauterized by the effect: sure, the wound is healed, but the healing effect is cripplingly painful. Thus, Forsaken priests are beings of unwavering willpower; Forsaken (and death knight) tanks suffer nobly when they have priest and paladin healers in the group; and Sir Zeliek REALLY hates himself."

So, I don't know what to make of it. *scratches head*.
On a funny sidenote: I play a Forsaken Warrior nearly since WotlK, my best and most trusted friend is a Bloodelf Paladin. And as an occasional Roleplayer I inherited this last part in my headcanon. Getting hammered with holy shocks makes my Warrior so angry, that he doesn't know the words "Not enough rage!". He is surprisingly fit and fast for a rotting corpse and his masterful skill in cooking speaks for his ability to 'taste' meals during their preparation. The only thing, I do deliberately not think about, is whether he is capable of reproduction or not. I leave that to fanfiction writers 😅

I feel like most of the people will not like this forsaken light direction because this is not what forsaken are and not why people started loving the forsaken in the first place I think blizz has done horribe damage to forsaken as a faction and now its very hard to fix it without Sylvanas and valkyr 💀

The forsaken faction is tenable as a playable race if they don’t change.
The forsaken were originally bad guys that got into the horde for military reasons.
Thrall didn’t trust them or actually even want them but the horse needed a foothold.
They can’t reproduce on their own and know faction wants their people being raised. Lorthemar threatened to kill Sylvanas if she even tried to raise any Belfs during SoO.

I have always believed that every Cosmic Force can raise people/creatures into Undeath! I hope we get this in game, it would be cool!

The face variety of those light undead all look kinda evil. Like enemy NPCs.
I think they will be a separate race from the normal undead and death to the forsaken 😊
1. These are obviously NPCs.
2. Original lore doesn’t need to be restricting for the sake of preserving nostalgia. As the game evolves so does the story and lore.
3. Not all Undead that exist are from plague/necrotic magic. Examples:
Fel, via Gul’dan resurrecting Mannoroth in WoD.
Nature via the Botani infesting deceased Laughing Skull Orcs.
Rot/Decay/Blood via Blood Trolls.
Void via Void Shapers channeling void into a devilsaur skeleton.
The Light via Saa'ra, Anduin and Alonsus resurrecting Calia.
Its not restricting, theyre retconing the order, how magic works and the fundations that they had made to this game. When Ive started playing undead, It was a holy priest that alwas felt great amounts of pain persisting in using the light. To be a healer was a great sacrifice for her lore, and now thats nothing hahaha.
@@larissachagas1276 It’s not necessarily retconning the lore. Blizz hasn’t established anything lore-wise that says Light wielding Undead don’t feel pain from utilizing the Light. Even these new Lightbound Undead may not even feel pain for all we know, simply because they embody the Light rather than just wield it.
To this day i have no fucking clue why everyone is fine with just having a freaking undead faction wandering around.
The horde would fall in the east without them hehe.

@@sowhat1674 the horde wouldnt need to fall if they werent always poking the bear, and trying to justify it as "if we dont poke the bear first, it will wake up and eat us." when the real issue is, they just need to stop messing with the bear.
Theyre going to be a minor thing like the witches in drustvar, they're gonna be dungeon trash with no lasting imoaxt on the story.

Undead has always messed me up. Undead potentially have surviving living family members who mourned the undeads ‘death’. And the undead could never go back and visit their surviving family.

there are very many details in dragonflight picked up from gw2 outright, from story to the actual dragon riding

I'm not going to lie I wouldn't mind a light forged forsaken character but I still want them to make it to where we can make them look totally not decayed and more normal without being hunched over and falling apart. I mean look at sylvanas nathanos and calia, they all look like normal just slightly twisted versions of what they used to look like. Why can't we have characters like that?
I would play a "forsaken" or the "undead" if they looked like Calia Menathil or the one who was in love with Silvanas .

Look if they want to make this work. Then they also need to give us Undead Forsaken which emits Arcane, Frost, Fire, Fel, Nature, Shadow enz Energy. It would be all the different powers giving any willing a second chance. Just as Sylvanas did in Cataclysm, in the Forsaken starter area. I believe it was that some was raised, others that did not answer the call. Sylvanas would need to return, take her place of being Queen again. With the council being like her senators or something, helping to govern.
Or a scenario Callia joining this Fanatical side. The others of the council seeing in their errors. That Sylvanas returns to clean things up. Would be the best possible solution to this mess. There is no way in the world, that the great majority of horde and forsaken players will accept Callia. As being the Alliance New Queen, with Alliance bottom pirate boy as the Champion. While Sylvanas is some kind of side kick.
Our Sylvanas was twisted into this position because of Afrasiabi the Cosby guy. Because he had some kind of Beef internally. The tree would never have happened. Those who value Sylvanas are just as much wounded because of this insane mans beef, as the Night Elf players are. I feel for you, I truly do. But please Understand, we are wounded to.

i wonder if you could use the elements or life magic to make an undead, and if a life powered undead would end up looking like a dryad or something where the broken patches of skin get covered over with plant life and bark and such

Calia is like Wiz in Konosuba. Sylvanas may be full flesh, but those are some plump undead that put living to shame. Aside from the abominations.

Couldnt it be possible for races give their permission in life to be undead when they die. Stories about shadowlands and what your fate will be when you die should be common right now. A movement could start with different horde/alliance races that hate the idea of eternal servitude in the shadowlands. They want a choice and ask Calia or other lightweilders for a sollution/light resseraction when they die.
It only happend to Callia and it took a lot of power. Shewould feel empathic to this plight. She will seek a effiencent way to ress and find a powersource/a catalist to make light undead. after this quest she is needed to ress someone important(maybe with a void naru inside idk) so Vareesa can contain the void inside herself and not a timebomb void invasion in her death state. The sunwell could be the only small change to prevent this and at the same get vereesa back. It would work but the void powers still escape in to the sunwell resulting in a void invasion.

Being able ress people with the light could lead to a overal paradigm shift in the alliance races on their views of undead. It also lead to a anti reaction of lightweilders like tyrallion and the church. Making the groundwork for a civil war between ProRess/Prochoice azoroth style side with calia/anduin/Moira as the leaders vs tyrallion/church of the holy light (and maybe Velen in the beginning for peacekeeping) NoRessForU or NoChoice side.

You mention a light lich king, could this not be the Arathi emperor? Or even Yurl? Granted neither of those individuals have a helm of domination (that we’re aware of). I’m still highly suspicious of the ancient family blood lines, and why they still are seeming relevant. Arthas was chosen, Andwin was chosen, and it seems maybe Callia may have been chosen. Who’s to say the Arathi emperor doesn’t have some connection and why he may have control over aspects of the light, that others haven’t before… besides andwin… Andwin is the only one who can stand up to this emperor in terms of his power over the light. (Remember, Andwin has shown great and unheard of power over the light, be it in the BFA cinematic, or even summoning the light in the shadow lands, which had never been done before) we are seeing more and more versions of the light show up within this world, and imo, it’s only foreshadowing the darkness it’s going to bring. The light is preparing itself for something big, and as it stands the light holds sway in both Lordaron, and stormwind, that’s the norther and southern parts of the eastern kingdoms. We are going to have some big event in qel’thalas, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the light surround us, and we make our last stand at the sun well.

I have been a forsaken since I first started playing the game around 13+ years ago If this is happening with the light and more alliance focus on the horde/ undead I’m done with that race

I've said it before. The Horde vs. Alliance is dead. gone. Mechanically it is silly. From a lore point of view it's boring. From a story telling perspective for the devs it's a pain to keep trying to find ways to make it work. But we need PVP, we need conflict, we need faction loyalty and Spirt De Corps. this only confirms it for me. Players will choose Good Vs. Evil. Dark vs. Light. Which will Be awesome. Undeads who wanted to side with Sylvannas now can, others can be "redeemed" Honorable Ocs can join thrall. While others can turn to the blood rage. Dark Irons can worship the Fire lords if they choose. Humans who agree with the Defias can, or join Sholomace or something. Elves can follow the path of blood, so on and so forth. The best part is. We won't know who is who. they'll be in our streets, walking among us. At the auction house or helping with a quest. But then one day, you'll que for warsong. There they'll be, in a murderous rage ready to cut you down.
If Blizzard starts making LIGHT UNDEAD I pray they loose 70% of playerbase soon

This has nothing to do with good old warcraft lore. The lore is so overcombined that it lost its original magic.
personally I would have liked Ogres or half ogre Characters for horde and let the alliance have the Stone Dwarves, Dwarves have no place in the horde...also as for the undead...can't we just be evil or at least morally grey, where in we do evil things to combat evil like Nechromarncers fighting Chromatic Dragons in DnD.
Why must WoW turn into kiddy grade BS, where we are afrade to have actual evil characters and we are scared of the public opinion so we never make a pure evil faction and let players join that faction because "there is no evil, just shades of Gray" probably 50 shades of Gray.
yes IRL life is in shades of gray, but you can still have evil in shades of gray and you can have good guys committing evil acts in the name of " the greater good" wow has non of that, it used to have a decent lore, it wasn't Tolkien but it was decent, now everyone needs to be a hero everyone is morally good, you can't be evil in a war torn world where everyone thinks they are right, also don't let me get started on the forced inclusivity... look inclusivity is A ok, when it makes sense, but just like any food food if you forcefully shove it down someone's throat the result is almost always going to be vomiting it back out!

they could bring back some serious story that was abandoned throughout the years. Imagine if the "Light undead" used their powers at Lights hope Chapel and revived all the fallen soldiers of Lordaeron, Alterac, Stratholme, etc... We could see characters that have been immortalized in Warcraft Lore come back and lay claim to their old land, and could essentially replace the Scourge, with a reanimated Alexandros Mograine taking the charge with Human Arthas at his side, fighting for control of the northern Kingdoms
