- It was a great August holiday, but the work mounted up at our little chateau. Guests are arriving and we need bedrooms and bathrooms!! Time for some Girl Power! Can I overcome the heatwave and get all of my projects done in time to go to the magnificent Chateau de L'Islette for a Tango-Flamenco picnic? And will we remember "Cheese of the Week"?

Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 22 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 18 years, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

I would like to say that the song playing in the background, La Vie En Rose is very nice and romantic, but, it becomes very repetitive and sticks in my mind too much after watching your videos and so I find that I do not watch your videos as much as I would like to, for that reason, and I have not subscribed even though normally I would with a channel with such lovely content as yours.
You are a beautiful, charming and graceful lady with an amazing smile and I love everything else about your channel, everything, else. I would like to humbly suggest that you add more variety in the music and move on to different musical content. I am hesitant to make suggestions in such a way that seem critical, but, I feel in this case, it could be helpful, I do believe you would have many more subscribers if you would move on to a variety of background music.
I loved it when you worked on the Joan of Arc piece for behind the bed and you saved the letter from the back and framed it, truly fantastic. I love the feel and colors of all the rooms I have seen so far and have the utmost respect for creativity and all that you all are doing in your lovely chateau. I hope my suggestion regarding the music will be taken in the spirit it is intended and will be helpful. ^_^

The monogram looks exactly like the Marie Antoinette monogram! So glad you could save it. I love the idea of meaningful art in a home - your grandmothers needle point is charming. Having art on the back of the bathroom door is a fun idea and I bet it helps when people come out of there to have a conversation about something other than sitting on the throne LOL 🤣 Also how fun to find the little plate with your chateau on it. The monogram behind the Virgin Mary embroidery is the standard Ave Maria symbol. The Virgin Mary you have on the front is "Our Lady of Grace" "Notre Dame de Grâce". It was first depicted in 1440 and has had many other versions since. The one you have here is a depiction of the later versions of her - possibly 1920-30's - where it was said that her robe scintillated with jewels of gold. She wears a "crown halo" of golden stars - there are 12 - which ties her to her son's 12 disciples. As Jesus said, when hanging on the cross: "Mother, here is your son" as he identified James, one of his brothers as being the one to look after her as she was now a widow. Mary is at times seen crushing a foot on the neck of a snake. This stands for the belief that she and her son Jesus, crush the enemy's attempt to rule the earth when we pray to them. Hope this helps.

We have Boursin cheese in Canada also. My husband used to call it treasure cheese as the kids when small would have gobbled it up at one sitting. He taught them to treasure the cheese and save it to eat sparingly. ❤️🇨🇦

Love the idea of honoring Joan of Ark in this way. I have a book about her life in one.of my bookcases. And she certainly was a brave. And wise very, very young woman/girl with so much faith, and.led by the most powerful. Saints. Most would never have taken so much on if they did not.have a strong faith, and total belief in what she must do for her country. It was her calling from birth!
