    Awesome! Thank you! I'm running 12 now on a raspberry pi with a coral... But I've been trying to justify buying a small form factor computer to move Frigate and CompreFace... Sounds like this is my justification!

    I appreciate your tutorials. I also run Dell 7070 micro similar to yours. HA OS, Frigate, Docker Wyze Bridge with some Wyze cameras. Two questions. I ended up with a CORAL M2 DUAL EDGE TPU that appears to mechanically fits into my m2--2230 slot (WiFi/BT) but I have yet to understand if this slot has proper interfaces to support it. Have any useful info? Second, have you used Docker Wyze Bridge's substreams in Frigate?

    LOL he always says that you don't need a high resolution for the detect. If you are using face detect, even with a full 2k stream, it detects faces and they are usually very small. 95x111 px is just one of the typical face detection from Double Take using the full 2k stream from frigate. With using a lower resolution, the face detection captures 26x41 pixels. The face detection is laughable with a 2k stream, I'm assuming it's basically useless with a lower resolution which may be only 640x480 instead of 2304x1296. Just think about it for a minute, if you have a picture of a person standing about 10 to 20 feet away from a camera in 640x480 and one at 2396x1296, which would you be more likely to recognize the person's face in the photo. I'm sure a low resolution wouldn't matter if you are looking to detect large objects like a car but he talked about the premium which deals with face, car and licence plates. I don't think frigate is going to be able to make out a licence plate with a 640x480 detect stream unless it was 5 or less feet away from the camera.

    just to prevent unwanted surprises during traveling I turned off automated updated. Did you notice changes with the HACS Frigate card in the dashboard we should be prepared for?

    "Excellent video. I'm from Argentina and my English isn't very good, so I hope I can express myself well. I have a problem: I configured MQTT in the Frigate configuration file, but I can't connect through MQTT from Home Assistant, so the sensors aren't working. However, the video from the Frigate add-on works correctly."

    If yes, can you give me your link?

      Mqtt server on home assistant. Mqtt data can be pushed from frigate and the mqtt server will create sensors, etc for that info coming in. Piece of cake

      You do not have to have Frigate+ for the audio or autotracking to work. Frigate+ is just for custom models.

    I am running Home Assistant 2023.11.2 as a VirtualBox on Intel PC with Nvidia GPU. If I run Frigate as a HA add-on, how do I tell it to use Nvidia GPU? Any instructions or blog article on this topic?

    I am currently running frigate 12 on a proxmox vm for which a coral tpu doesn't work well or really at all. What would you recommend as minimum stand alone hardware device. I have about 10 cameras. Preferably something for which I can set up as a ubuntu box.

    • @RinyVT
      @RinyVT Před 6 měsíci

      In what way does the coral not work with a proxmox VM? Just got a coral and contemplating if I'll pass it through to the Home Assistant VM or if I'll setup frigate in an LXC container, or my docker LXC

    • @dretwav
      @dretwav Před 6 měsíci

      @@RinyVT I never got it to pass through but it very well could have been user error. I have frigate now running on a MinisForum Mini PC 8GB DDR4 256GB SSD Intel Celeron J4125 from Amazon ($135) with the Coral and it is running beautifully with 12 cameras. I am using the 13 beta and really like having an api to generate time-lapses. I use an nfs share to keep all the data on a Synology NAS.

      @@dretwav Thanks for getting back to me! Sounds good, my server is a J5040 so I think I'm just gonna explore all options and see what kind of results it'll give.

    Can I ask why you stopped using Blueiris, I'm a current user of it with a Coral module and I think I still prefer it over Frigate due to its ease of setup and features. I have thought about Frigate but it just seems like you need a decent amount of knowledge to set it up and not as feature-rich.

    • @mostlychris
      @mostlychris  Před 5 měsíci +1

      The main reason is that, with the Coral TPU, I can run Frigate on much less powerful devices made for running 24x7. BI is still awesome but it requires running on a PC with Windows. At the time I switched, BI also didn't have native object detection. Once I got things running on Frigate, I didn't see the need to go back, plus I save the license costs for BI.

    We wonder why Wyze or Arlo is so successful for the trash service they provide and it's because of this project. Awesome for the nerd in all of us but for a layman, this is a ridiculously complicated and scary proposition. We need to do better to make these project more accessible for more people.

    is frigate still 5 fps max?

    • @porksmash
      @porksmash Před 7 měsíci +8

      There never was a limit, it's just a recommended to run the detection stream at 5fps. Your recordings at whatever framerate you want.

      no, it's just enough frequency for detection and doesn't load the processor that much
