- This is a special fan because it is the highest speed 12v 120mm fan I currently own. It is rated at 7,400rpm and I've had it peak at 4.7amps power draw, and the minimum speed defaults to 2,300rpm at 0% duty cycle. The maximum rate of flow it can achieve is 255cfm.
The control box in the video is custom made. It is powered by a Delta ATX PSU just off screen and features the same PWM signal generator as in my other video. - Věda a technologie

After all these years, we've finally found the fan sony uses in the ps4.
@@stargirl5194my ps4 is silent
@@EdwardPlagaYeah, playing in "Ghost of tsushima " and your ps4 turn into the Airplane.
The PS4 slim is so silent wdym
@@stargirl5194 I remember years ago in 2014 I was playing on the chunky one but I didn’t know it was that loud, it was a long time ago I can’t remember how loud it was
All ps4 models have a removable lid for dusting the fan. With how powerful consoles are getting routine dustings are necessary. Also if your ps4 is old I would recommend a thermal paste/pad reapplication. There are plenty of video tutorials online, along as you don't touch any of the small capacitors you will be fine.
(Did not know if tour comment is a joke or not if it wasn't a joke hope this helps)
just the fact that a fan motor this small can get to 7000+ rotations per minute is wild
Почему он маленький?
Yep - the air resistance increases as the fan gets faster, which is why the power requirement is so high. I'm planning to buy a 12,000rpm 120mm fan, so stay tuned!
And it's only using around 44 watts
my laptop fan goes to 6750 RPM
@@Nik-lf4rw ain't no way bro holy 💀
These business/server grade fans almost last forever and they move a lot of air compared to normal fans. These are found in lots of Dell and HP business computers but they are dead silent because they don't need to spin so fast to be able to cool components
Yes. I have an old Dell Precision 670 and the fans on max are super loud but even under full load they barely spin up
Where can you buy them i want some
@@grebap Tbh i don't know. These are usually only found inside the computers and you can't normally find these type of fans new on the market. Try local computer shops or Amazon refurbs, they most likely won't be new but at least they will still work
@@grebap various places - I buy most of my server fans on ebay, but some of the more specialised ones I have to order from China (like the one in this video). :)
This thing consumes more power than my cpu while I'm gaming.
When a fan spins faster than your hard drive:
That's a lot of speed

idk, when i mess with some fans like that i feel 100% nostalgic, i miss those days...
When the VTEC kicks in
Counter rotating fans are the coolest
Indeed - I only have one of them. They are impractical though because of the size!
Everytime i fire my pc up, i feel like im flying
i tried overpowering my 212+ with a 3000RPM fan but it doesnt really make much of a difference over 2krpm. Still its nice to have the extra air flow because i set it so go over 2krpm when the motherboard's vrms get hot on summer :D
This is where a powerful heatsink would shine. The old Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme was ideal for use with high speed fans because of the densely packed fin array. Most modern heatsinks are designed for silent cooling so they have fewer fins and therefore don't scale so well with more powerful fans.
@@FanPhys Now I want to know how 3 7200RPM fans would cool a NH-D15 or something
@@FanPhys jonsbo hx7280 has very dense heatsink and is twin tower.
Sounds like a jet plane taking off!!!
This fan dissipates heat wonderfully👍
the scariest thing is that he is holding it with his hand...
i felt the fan blowing air at me how hard it was spinning
Oh boy, that thing is scary.
I remember my old somewhat regular 90mm case fan, but that thing was a beast, with around 3800 rpm. I still have a scar on my finger after I accidentally moved my hand around it. Of course it tore itself apart later with several blades flying off...
I wonder what will heppen, if you accidentally stick something in THIS THING
my computer after putting a video on 144p:
A pc fan like this will be cold the earth
this gives me Crysis gameplay nostalgia
Haha, good old Crysis - brings back memories!
Even i feel cold from this fan
My default 60mm fan was doing 5k rpm lmao. Sounded like a mini jet. Good thing I downloaded speedfan and lowered it
My brain: 0:11 what a nice and quiet fan 0:58 imma take it back what I just said
It's interesting to me that at the minimum 2,300rpm this fan seems quieter and has a nicer tone than my EK Varder 120ER's on my radiator running at their maximum of 2,300rpm. Any idea what the CFM of this fan is at with the minimum 2,300rpm? Also, push 3, 7, 4, 7 on your keyboard while watching the video for Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song.
It's pretty loud at 2,300rpm because the motor is very large and there are vibrations too. Not sure about CFM at low speed but the static pressure will be very high. The only Delta I have that's quiet is the AFB1212.
gamers gonna love this cooling method
Sounds like a jet engine.
Ngl worth it cooling down my pc lmao gives u a more irl feeling while playing flight sim
New Class 91 cooling fans just dropped
If this kind of fan was used to cool down your CPU and GPU, I don't think you will ever experience thermal throttling issues.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to take off.
Damn that thing is spinning so fast it's probably making boost 😂
I can feel the Air breeze
Wow it's spun so fast Mine spins at 2500 RPM and yours spins about 3X faster than mine OMG. And also it was very loud.
now I know why tornadoes often occur in my state...
now mind you this fan is running at full speed for 24 hours until they decide to shutdown the server
10 million rotation per day
319 million rotation per month
3.8 billion rotation per year
delta is freaking beast
Yep these are impressive numbers for sure. Welcome to the world of server fans!
it sounds like a plane taking off at 7300 rpm
Yup this fan spins faster than my HDD
oh finally a fan that can cool down my xbox 360
remeber god has given some precious parts in body especially fingers use them wisely
That's why he gave us 10 of them to spare.

Hello guys, I would like to use a fan to control/levitate a ping pong ball. I have bought a Noctua 12mm fan (3000 RPM, 186,7m³/h) but I think this one will not be able to levitate and control the ping pong ball height. Which model of (PWM) fan would you suggest for such applications ? The one from that video seems to be able to do the job no ? (video: 7300rpm Delta 120mm Server Fan). If you have a link to buy such fans ? My initial idea was to use a transistor with the gate of the transistor connected to my 5V PWM output of my Arduino. Consequently, I can use any type of DC fan, it is not mandatory a PWM fan. From projects, I observe a tendency to use 32V fans but I prefer 12 or 24V PWM-fans as they are more accessible on the internet. Thank you very much for your help. Kind Regards, Guillaume
Axial fans are not so good for this - you want high velocity pressure (air speed) without twisting or turbulence, so a blower fan would be best. I just tried it with the blower fan from my previous video (Delta BFB1212VH) and it works, but it would help to have an even more powerful blower. It would probably also help to straighten the flow and possibly further increase the flow velocity by making the opening even smaller. :)
@@FanPhys Thank you very much for help ! Apologies for my tardive answer..(just start new job). Do you have a reference for the blower fan suggested ? I am a bit struggling. Or do you know good blower fan brandmarks ? I will also check on google what is available but always more interesting to have your advise. Regarding the venturi effect, I have planned to print something in 3D to achieve this effect so I fully agree with your advise. Many thanks. Kind Regards, Guillaume
Omg i need this fan for FX overclocking!!!!
Ahahahah
Ah good ol 9 blade sound
that's not a fan, that's a whole ass propeller
bro is crazy
Ahh yes, the engine that Airbus used for their A350s.
is the fan that may cause mobo defect bcz if u raise the voltage of the fan actually raise the voltage in mobo as time as is parallel bro it shown at you 12 volt but in fact is 30 to 60v that is dropet ad 12 volt thats why mobos capacitors fail that is a big mistake to connect fans in the same psu with mobo psu you can try what im telling you wirh a variable psu and a 12 volt car light bulb 55 66 or 100w the lamp for example to compensate current it raise voltage but the current may be high but also the voltage is high just tried
Ladies and gentlemen. Prepare for take off
bro is slowly attempting to make a jet engine
It's almost like a small jetliner taking off!
Hi good day do you have the link for this fan looking for something around this rpm, 80-120×25/38mm dimensions 5amps or less n least about of wattage also please
Hi, I got it some years ago from Ali Express, I think the store was Sensda Electronics. You can get similar fans more easily, like the PFC1212DE 4.8A which has similar performance but is slower.
I felt a cold on my hand
Doing this can dmg the fan? I was going to upgrade by pc fan into higher speed because its to got damn hot when playing rdr2
just check the crust under your heatsink, potentially upgrade the cooler to bigger ass one, check gpu too
It would gather more dust which would slow down the fan eventually.
is it bad to over volt to 14V or so then do amps?
It will run at the same speed because of the internal microcontroller, but you risk frying some of the components and would likely damage the fan.
Does this one beat the Noctua 120 mm 3000 rpm in cooling?
Destroys it haha xD
Ah yes, finally something that can cool my 10 yr old laptop. Instead of cooking my CPU.
Where can I buy the toner to adjust the rpm?
You can't - I built it myself! But you can buy similar, check out Noctua NA-FC1.

Where can i buy these 73/4000 RPM 120mm fans? I’d love to put these in my computer case that can mount/fit 10 120mm case fans. My current 120’s rated 2,200 rpm but i’ve tuned them to reach 2,780 - 2,800 RPM (Corsair LL120 2200 RPM fans (i hope these 73/4000 rpm fans have 4 PWM pins!)
This fan I got on aliexpress, but I wouldn't recommend. Ebay is your best bet for Delta, Nidec, San Ace etc

Thanks! Yeah I will be doing a series of fan videos which have all of this information :)
“Hello, and welcome to AMD Wraith airlines, we sincerely hope you enjoy the flight. Takeoff will resume shortly once thermals have resumed to normal.”
I need this in my pc to cool my pc to have under 40 30 full load stress test temps
Faster than my car engine(v6)
How does this compare to Nidec beta V, when both are run at 1800 rpm and at 5000rpm?
This fan has a min speed of 2,300 so it's always loud. The Beta V is also quite a loud fan even at low speeds, because the motor has a very high pitched frequency. It is similar to the San Ace fan in that regard.
@@FanPhys I got a qfr1212uhe which is rated at 12v 5a, can't find any data on it other than some info on aliexpress. Any chance you know its speed and static pressure? Would it be similar to pfr series?
@@FanPhysAll the Nidec fans I have only make a high pitched noise on startup, so it's not too bad.
Now time to replace all my qx fan with this, set it to max, and play Minecraft at 16k resolution with a ton of shaders
Just remember that if you buy this fan new it's not cheap, about $65 a pop. I got it cheaper from AliExpress, but that was a gamble and I got very lucky...
Will these work on my rads with no Ty’s controler
You need a specific controller for fans like this. I'll hopefully cover it in a future video.

Hey, I built it myself - I have another video on my channel showing a simple version of the circuit. Alternatively you could look at the Noctua NA-FC1 which is essentially the same thing but without the fancy display.

Depends on the quality of the fan. Most manufacturers allow a +/- 10% margin on the rated speed. Cheap knock-off fans are best ignored because the specs are usually miles away from what the fan actually does. I'd recommend sticking with Nidec, Delta, and San Ace.
