- Brunson is 27 years old, entering his prime and on top of the league as far as one of the game’s best point guards with so much more rising to do. Keep in mind Jalen Brunson was a second round pick for the Dallas Mavericks in 2018, with little chance of even making the final roster and even less seeing the floor at all as the 4th string point guard behind rookie Luka Doncic, Trey Burke, and JJ Barea. Not to forget Dennis Smith Jr, their lottery pick the year before in a big year to prove he could hold on to his spot with a generational talent right behind him. In Dallas that was the story and that was the focus. Brunson’s story would play 3rd and 4th fiddle only for him to tremendously improve by his 3rd season, in contention for 6 man of the year, the year after most improved, year after that flirting with MVP conversations to this year named an all star and thought of as a top 5 point guards in the league. How he do it. Watching Jalen Brunson play t’s really not difficult to see. His stone cold demeanor and expressionless face is not a lack of showmanship or confidence, but the chip on his shoulder he carries from always being underrated and unnoticed throughout his basketball journey. I had high hopes for him coming out of Nova but they played him at the draft but in insight it was the best thing for him to be overlooked .. especially after winning chips in college & the individual awards .

I knew when he carried Dalls through a play off round when Luka was out.
As a Cavs fan I watched this man straight up outplay us in the first round. Brunson is a class act, great leader, great game, humble, and doesn’t cause any issues off the court. He’ll be one of the faces of the league for a long time.

I kept receipts from people who tried to clown me after his first year when I said he's got star potential. His game was so different. You could see he was going to do something special.
Dude had one of the best college resumes this century. He was a two time champ and reigning NCAA college player of the year coming into the league. It's criminal he fell so far. Dallas had two of the best draft steals ever in 2018 getting Luca by trading up to 3 and Brunson at 33. What a story that would have been if your first and second round pick in the same draft class go on to become an all time great backcourt and win a title. It's a shame he left.
I’m a biased fan of both Villanova and of Brunson. I was a fan of his father as well so I knew he came from good stock. It was CRIMINAL he wasn’t a first round pick, but Nova guards have tended to be overlooked coming out once draft eligible (Lowry, Reynolds). He is a great story of how hard work really does pay off. He’s Nova’s most accomplished PG/Player & could be viewed the greatest player in program history. Couldn’t be more proud of what he’s accomplished and look forward to his very bright future!

I would like to see you do a video on Curtis Staples and Harold Deane, they played at Univ of Virginia back in the 90s. Incredible backcourt and Corey Alexander played briefly with them i believe.

Similar story to FVV but better. FVV was undrafted though. Their games are pretty similar, but Brunson is a lot more efficient.
Exactly. Most thought he would be a similar player to Fred or Lowry but he’s in a different stratosphere now.
@dkarmusic5424 Yup , his style and craftiness is similar, similar stature , but Brunsons efficiency is off the charts for someone of his size. FVV in comparison usually shoots 39-40% from the field because he has literally no mid range to lay up package for a guard.....Basically only 3's. But FVV is a tremendous facilitator, he just doesn't have the physical size , nor athletic ability to be a 3 level scorer.
