- Arguably the most derided of any horror game ever, Resident Evil 6’s failings are numerous: it’s departure from creeping survival horror to gun-happy action adventure, it’s convoluted plot supplanted by complex, interwoven campaigns, it’s finicky cover system and mediocre gunplay, and it’s annoying overreliance on quick time events (a video game trope that was already falling out of favor by the time the game released in 2012).
What this video aims to point out though is that Resident Evil 6 does possess a handful of redeeming features and discusses whether these aspects are enough to craft a remake, or whether Resident Evil 6 should be left on the cutting room floor. - Hry

it was great.. re4 also got a lot of criticism by "purists" when it first came out but its now one of the most iconic games in the whole franchise.. go figure
@@jub8891 Well, people hate change. I don't hate that kind of change, but I hate when you take something that was good before and remake that very same thing to something less good. If I wanna replay RE4 in the future I'll be left with 2 options: Do I want better gameplay and graphics? Or do I want better story and personalities?

i for one always liked res6 , lots of character with theyre own storyline (even if some of them felt very flat ) and gameplay felt smooth with the dodging . It definitely had its faults but i dont believe it deserves the hate its getting :(

That campaign would be great if Ustanak really worked as Nemesis and followed you EVERYWHERE. The interactions between Jake and Cherry is gold, also is good for RE to have new faces tied to the main characters of the first games, the new generation
RE6 is great. It doesn't need a remake. And those changes you asked for wouldn't be RE6
Yes, but it's too early to consider for it as of now. Wait at least another 7 years before it's finally time to give it a go. I've said several times before that EVERY mainline Resident Evil game before RE7 needs to get the RE Engine remake treatment.

As a defender of RE6 I definitely think it should get a remake/reboot/reimagining, whatever you wanna call it. But I also think 9, and remakes of 1, CV, and 5 should DEFINITELY come first. Maybe even an Outbreak remake or Revelations 3 as well. Let 6 sit as is until its 18-20 years old

BUT...please make it congruent with the character arc they have recreated so beautifully with the RE2R and RE4R.
Use Nick Apostolides for voice and the remake's Leon visual model (aged up appropriately of course). Note: keep remake Ada's visual model but get a diffr voice actor (try to get Jolene back!!!).
By simplifying the campaigns and action-to-horror ratio, it could be the amazing remake we desperately need!
RE6 should get a FF14 treatment. I wouldn't mind an "A Realm Reborn" type of remake. Either a similar story but told in a more RE fashion, or a directly new retelling of the events without the over-the -top action.

The story can't just be tweaked like RE5 though. It needs a full overhaul to the story. There isn't much that really needs to be kept.
I dont think it'll be a typical remake though. It'll probably cost more to produce than it did for re4 and 5.

Yeah, it was pretty horrible if u ask me. They removed everything that was good about resident evil 4 & 5, but I guess it was trying something new, I’m all about that it just didn’t work for me in this instance
Well no one asked you...The gameplay was fun it had the best combat and movement mechanics In the franchise. The only issue it had was the story because it was honestly horrible and somewhat nonsensically cliche.
Leon’s was the only good campaign compared to the other two.

@@OscarG787 Not true at all, in my opinion Leon had one of the worst campaigns in the game. Id put Jake & Sherry's at 1st, Chris & Piers at 2nd, Leon & Helena's and Ada's at last. Ada's was genuinely terrible.
I really wanted to love re6 as much as i love the rest. Heck, remake it without the quick time events and I'd buy two copies. The overdose of quick time events really turned me off.

It definitely need a remake considering resident evil 6 has the best story in the whole series, as it brings chris and Leon together for the first time, and even ada is here sherry...wesker has a son, plus for those of you who played resident evil 7 and 8, we know theres connections in eastern europe, about Wesker, Spencer, miranda, and being that jake was found over there..

Why not?They pull off Re 4 Remake. Re 6 Remake would be godlike if done right. It needs Re 4 Remake pacing and level design and exploration. Keep the same controls and mechanics.
Jake and Sherry would have to be completely gone. RE6 had a very competent story with Leon and Chris, with Ada in the middle of everything. The current blueprint could make a brilliant End of Times RE story with a lot of drama, mystery and revelations.
A little rewriting, re-characterizing (Simmons), and reimagining the whole thing as something way more believable and BOOM... a RE6 at the height of the current remakes and Village.
Would love to see the horror-action with Leon and action-horror with Chris... and the spy flavored part (with the remaining answers) with Ada.
SPOILER ALERT: At the end of Chris' campaign, we could see the ones who will become the Wolves.

Of course! Remake of a great game is good, but to remake and improve it, its what a REMAKE should BE about! It is the chance to mend past errors. Like remaking last GOT season?? Amyone? 😁
Eventually, sure. It’s just not a priority for me right now. I want to see all of RE0, RE1, RE5, and particularly CVX in the current engine first. Even the latter seems like it might take a while.

Re6 NEEDS a remake, or reimagining. The story needs so much work. Here’s my proposal… keep the quad campaigns. But replace Helena with Clair red field and replace piers with either player character from resident evil 0, sheeva or Jill. Keep Jake, but severely change and overhaul his design/personality. Make Leon’s story focus on the small town/ catacombs resident evil style settings. Make Chris’s focus on the bigger picture with bioterrorism instead of chasing Carla, matter of fact take Carla and Simmons out of the game or change them entirely. Ada Wongs story could work as her being pursued by the bsaa for her multiple crimes across the re universe, instead of having her be confused for Carla. Jake’s story can be pretty much the same, he’s the only one with the cure and neo wants him dead. I actually dig the healing factor sherry has, but I wanna see it used in gameplay, and put more depth into it. Ustanak would be terrifying if they made him act like a Mr X from remake2 on steroids. Anyways they’d have to restructure literally everything about the game as far as how and why the characters do what they do, to keep from having the stupid motorcycle chase or underwater qte shark fight. But with enough effort, it can definitely happen.
I'd say remake code Veronica then sometime later resident 5 first. When it comes to Resident 6, I'd say make the time frame a bit more longer between each campaign, also increase the action but dial back on fighting back with puches and kicks (kinda like Leon during re4 and Chris during re5), no major fighting the tyrant with puches and kicks like that.

Res 3 remake was fine. It was nice to get a quick paced action packed entry. And if you follow sales numbers Res 6 has sold over 11 million copies, being beaten only by Res 5. And still has players to this day. It should have some things cut out, but overall just an overhaul on the same foundations would be a great game. It shouldn’t be whittled into something completely different or have the campaigns cut out. I’d buy it if they just did a visual upgrade with some gameplay tweaks as well.
Fans be hating this was one of the best besides 7 this gave had the dive technique the melee attacks they only thing I didn't like was when the stages shake and they do that weird animation other than that that was one of the best

I think you can do it, but I think they should do a Resident Evil Origins Remake of 0&1, do a Code Veronica Remake, then do a RE5 Remake, and THEN finish with a RE6 Remake, which puts us about 8 years out from now if you figure RE9 is coming out Next year in 2025, and RE Origins 0&1 or Code Veronica would be 2026, then putting out the other Remakes every other year for 2028, 2030 and then 2032 for RE6. I don't see why people had such a problem with Co-Op, it can be done well. Personally I loved it in RE5 🤷🏾♂️
It could actually be good if some of it was toned down and less Michael Bay movie and maybe instead of 4 separate campaigns it's one cohesive campaign that jumps from character to character in chronological order.
Yes. Has a great story, great interaction between characters and has the best gameplay mechanics I've seen in any shooter

I liked RE6, the story was weird, but the gameplay was fun, and playing co-op was even better, i bought a PS3 back in 2012 just to play this. 😋
The Mercenaries Mode is one of the best too.
It should have never existed. It's nothing like any of the other games. It's boring and kills the fun. I remember only trying to finish the campaigns ASAP since there was nothing else to do. Ergo, I think they should delete it from the mainline and treat it as something that might have been if something had gone wrong. Just pretend it didn't happen. If. however, they really want to remake it, they need to change the entirety of the game 100%.

Never Played RE 6 even if i did buy it. I could never finish RE 5 so i just gave up on those 2 games! Maybe both needs a remake! I did finish RE 3 and 4 Remake!! Loved both a lot more then 5 ever!!

No they shouldn't. The context of the story doesnt allow re6 to be horror. Why would chris, ada and leon be scared when they have 15 years of experience? The game has to be a action game and its perfect that way.

I think that's probably the biggest problem for the RE5 remake in 2024. It was a struggle to do when it released but in. An age of my sweet baby, i think it'll be even more altered thresh the original

Resident Evil 6 - 11.80 million, the 7th best selling RE and that was since release until 2023. Your logic doesn't hold. Focus the story, eliminate the assistance play and keep the action gameplay by fixing it. Horror game reviewers sound snobbish when their treasured series or IP shifts gears once. RE as a series is never stale or becoming stale due to the shifts in tone. But opinions are subjective. This is mine.
Remake RE5 but please just please not 6 but then again it will still be interesting to see it in modern graphics and most importantly reworking story narration

Trim it down to 2 campaigns. Leon and Sherry, Chris and Piers. Ada and Jake can be side NPCs. Helena can just be removed altogether. Hate her. Maybe have Jake learn that Chris killed his father early on and explore that side of Jake where Jake knows what his dad was and what he did and tried to do, but it still being his dad that he never saw and having complex emotions about it. Or just scrap the while Wesker kid subplot and have him retconned to just be a merc hired for the job
