My great grandmothers house has an elevator going from the dining room to the second-floor bedroom. This elevator was installed about 25 years ago, and it is 100% fail safe. It gets an inspection every year. It worked out very well for my great grandmother who had a lot of problems with the stairs. This was a very quick and convenient option for her.

My Aunt had an elevator installed in her home. She has a large 2 story, my Uncle passed away a few years ago, so when she had a fall coming down the stairs she had one installed. I'm so happy we live in a time where we have technology to assist those to remain independent.

All enclosed elevators and lifts should have a Phone or two way communication inside. The lifts with Plexiglass walls should also have power ventilation when temps get above 80 degrees it automatically turns on. Many customers are claustrophobic and like the openness of the Vertical lifts.

Up here in New Brunswick Canada any kind of lifting device has to be inspected yearly and they charge quite a hefty price to do ,so some places like Legions that had them installed have shut them down, just because of the inspection fees of over $ 500 CDN.

Usually on the cheaper projects, the prices will be around the same regardless of region. With something like this, I'd imagine the price would vary drastically for this job based on region, due to local codes, pricing by local companies, pricing of the materials locally, etc.

Someone in a wheel chair can still work, for example, as a software engineer which is paid very well.

They aren't that expensive if you provide the labor to enclose the elevator too. I'd still have someone else install the hydraulics.
