I've been searching for hours to find a half-decent explanation of what certification is. Some terms are implicitly skipped, while for the newbies, they are important for comprehensive understanding. They just fail to see it and provide very simple and confusing explanations instead.

I don't think I've ever read in the Security+ or CISSP "we don't actually send our public key". In the examples shown it's often the opposite! Very misleading of them. Thanks for the clear explanation.

You did a good job of explaining all this. The only minor flaw is that typically a normal everyday user like Alice wouldn't go to a CA to get a certificate, but a business entity (e.g. the bank) would.
