Between me and a good friend, we have opened 6 boxes and they all followed this pattern. I do think this has a slight negative impact on box opening but, more importantly, it is a huge issue for loose packs in a card shop.
Say I notice the loose pack box at my LGS is freshly opened and I buy 5 packs. I hit a legendary and I can then infer the most likely legendaries in the rest of the box. So if I hit a Mace Windu, I buy more packs until I hit a Vader. if I hit a Force lightning, I don't buy any more packs.
Ultimately, if people start doing this, the loose pack box sitting on the shelf at many LGS's will end up being dud boxes. Oftentimes, draft/sealed boosters are pulled from the same boxes. Why would I want to draft from a box where I know I have smaller chances at getting a valuable card? Why would I want to grab a few loose packs if I think the box has probably been mined by another customer? This makes buying a full sealed box the only fair way to engage with booster packs and that isn't feasible or desirable for many many players out there.
I've only opened 3 boxes, but the pattern fits. Two had Falcon, Aggression, Home One and Superlaser Blast and the third box had Cunning, Mace and Vader.
7/7 in boxes aligning to this. Hope they do a better job with making distribution more random in future runs.
Can also confirm my 2 boxes I took pictures of after opening also fall into this (Vigi/Falcon/Aggression and Change of Heart/Lightning/Command/Luke)
Blows my mind, I got Devastator Avenger Cunning, then hyper Aggression and Commmand and Showcase Palp.
So the prophecy fits!

My last box had an Avenger, Cunning, and Mace, so this really does line up.
I’ve had one “break” in the pattern. Just opened a box yesterday and got command, Boba, Black 1 and Devastator. Was super sad to not get Luke.
Was the Command a standard or an alternate legendary style?
@@ajvakarian all four were standard. We were pretty excited to pull a Luke, but dismayed when it “skipped.”
I just opened a box from the April restock and I got Luke, Boba, and Black One
this has been the case for my pulls the only time that this wheel was off was when i pulled a HS foil legendary but my other legendary's matched

Weird thing though, in my last box I had 2 Darth Vader & 2 Vigilance! All normal ones! And 1 Luke foil which we know it doesn't have to fit.
I just opened my first full box (I was only able to get boosters before) and the patter fit, but, it skipped one of the cards. I got Avenger, skipped Cunning, Mace, Vader, and Vigilance. I will recheck my packs when I get home, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t hit all 5
I had one box skip millennium Falcon. DV, Vigilance, Aggression.
Also opened 2 other boxes, Luke was first L, then… force lightning and Command. So sad no Boba.

and the box I know of we opened offcamera was Luke, Boba, Boba Black One. So it all fits.
Happend to me (Command, Luke & Boba).
Opened two boxes. Both match (Vader, Vigilance, Millennium Falcon) and (Vigilance, Millennium Falcon, Aggression). Purchased in Germany, but the English version.
First Vader, Vig, Falcon report I've seen. Been looking for one cause I got Mace, Vader, Vig in mine and definitely would have preferred your version but I wasn't sure it was possible :P

I have purchased about half a box from two different stores, and this makes sense. I have 1 Luke, 1 Boba, 2 Falcons, 2 Force Lightnings, and 2 Commands

Me and my friend bought 2 boxes and all our base legends were black one, Devastator and avenger
Last draft WE got Luke Boba command and Change of heart foil. Did match. Dont really remenber my 5 openings displays
My box openings were in line with this pattern. I can't remember every box pull exactly but I know I got Millennium falcon/aggression/home one, superlaser->force lightning, etc. I got one boba fett and unfortunately I went right to Black one/Devastator instead of getting a luke skywalker. I think you have it exactly right, it spoils the magic of opening a box a little bit. The packs are supposed to be random and it doesn't feel good to figure out that it's all part of a pattern. Hopefully the next sets have this issue fixed.
i def have opened a black one, boba, devastator, avenger box. trying to think, I've opened 3 fucking home one, aggression super laser blast boxes as well

this video makes me want to cry because i opened 8 boxes and got at least 2 of every legendary shown but i didn't pull a single vader..
Ditto. The Vader+/- boxes always seemed to allude me. And now that boxes are $200+ I’ll be putting collecting/deck building on hold until another wave of reprints comes in. It’ll just suck even more as that is rumored to be happening concurrent to set 2’s release.

My box fits too. We got Agression, Home One and Superlaser blast (but also another home one foil)
Hasn’t fit my experience, but I’m tired of being told that negative correlations don’t mean anything and that only positive correlations “count,” even though this is the definition of selection bias. The last box I opened had a Falcon and Boba Fett in it. Should be impossible but 🤷♂️. Also worth noting that the ability to pull foil legendaries interferes with this too. Our store is rationing to 8 packs per sale so we can’t get a whole box anymore but we just pulled 8 packs tonight from the same box. Only scored one legendary (Aggression) but pulled two foil Legendaries (Avenger and Cunning). Aggression and Avenger in the same pack. I guess we could say Avenger and Cunning are next to each other in the collation list but pretending that’s a positive correlation is a big reach.

Opened two last night. One had Home One, Superlaser Blast, Change of Heart, Force Lightning. The second had the same three but then instead of Force Lightning it had a Vigilance Foil

Always find it interesting when mapping is a thing but I will say my experience opening a case and 1 extra box did not fit any of this and in thos 7 boxes I never pulled a single Luke, Avenger or Cunning and I pulled 4 to 6 legendaries in each box, 1 example the box I pulled a Mace in didn’t have a Vader or vigilance. But none the less this is cool

Matches boxes I've opened too. Opened Hyperspace Ls at the same time that did not go with the general pattern of the box. But.. it probably follows a grander patterns that's gonna be harder to see without a giant sample :P
Just last week at a OP we opened packs and it followed this pattern. I got both Devastator and Avenger while the person who picked packs before me got Black One. I wish I’d have kept track during my 9 boxes but it looks right for the L’s I pulled naturally.
Now I’m going to test the theory as people pull legendaries.

I've only opened 2 boxes so far but they synced with this pattern. The first box was Falcon, Aggression, Home One, Superlaser and the second box was Mace, Vader and Vigilance. I suspect FFG has gotten wind of this by now and will look to correct the issue with future sets or printings.
Edit: Just opened a 3rd box. It contained Superlaser, Change of Heart and Force Lightning.

I opened a box over the weekend got boba, black one, devastator, ⭐️mace windu⭐️ so was a little off of the order
I wonder how large this collation issue is. I opened a box 2 weeks ago and it didn't fit this pattern.
Amazing to figure this out . Love the available data out there. Beyond the fact that there is a smaller amount of inventory out there, someone would have to pull a Legendary early enough in their packs that also itself was not close enough to anything of value. That really is only a few total cards for the average person who is not maximizing exact margin at massive scale. In some cases, I suppose a store owner could put those open boxes on the shelf and move onto opening other ones. Those open boxes are themselves going to be purchased Probably more a few packs at a time and still have a lot of other good cards as odds. Definitely something that should be fixed tho.
My original comment was going to be that of the four legendary I pulled in my first box one of them was way out of order from the mace/vader area. But then I remembered I had done a six pack pre-release. Yup . That’s where the falcon was haha.
I've opened 4 boxes, 3 of them in Spanish and one in English. Certaintly the ones in Spanish had a slighlty different pattern. For example, I had a Home one, Superlaser and Avenger in one of them BUT in the one I opened in english it was Boba, Black one and Devastator.
This looks to align with my pulls from 4 boxes.
I saw his post too. I can’t remember my first two boxes but my last box was Luke, boba, command (and hyperspace avenger).

this was the case for my earlier boxes, but recently opened 1 that seemed to skip a couple in the pattern (Superlaser, Change of heart, Command, and Boba were my base legendaries). I should note that a lot of packs had multiple rares and had cards flipped upside down, backwards.. might have been some sort of error box lol
Going through my group's posts we have Avenger/Black 1/Devastator twice, a case opening that had Avenger/Devastator/cunning twice, Cunning/Mace/Vader, Vader/Vigilance/Falcon. We have a Mace/Vader/Vigilance, Vader/vigilance/Falcon. Seems right to me.

I did just open a box with Vigilance, Vader and Mace. So it does follow your pattern.
I got two Cluster cases and nothing of this makes sence in my Case..
4 boxes, all lining up with this. 2 of the boxes were superlaser, change of heart and force lightning...

I opened a whole box last night and I pulled 3 Legendaries: Vader, Vigilance, and Mace in that order.
I’ve seen some boxes that fit this pattern. But I also have boxes with 3 Force Lightings or 2 Darths so maybe the pattern allows multiple of a card within that pattern group? Or maybe Hyperspace allows any rarity when given?
Yes. The pattern only applies to standard (non foil, hyperspace, hyperfoils) legendaries that would take the place of the rare in slot 15 in the booster pack. Any alternate legendaries are seemingly random as they occur much less often (0-2 per box).
I've open 15 boxes of product and a smattering of loose packs that I watched being pulled out of a box and put into the pack displays at my local game store. All of these patterns I've seen repeated over and over again. The only times that the box is different from the pattern is when it pulls a hyperspace or a foil version
I think this does not ruin Pack openings or box openings I do think it ruins loose pack sales and even single sales at the local level, box mapping was a big problem back in the 90s and early 2000s with magic, when stores could open up a few packs out of a box know exactly what was going to be in the box and then just cut loose all of the other packs.
Just add another scratch to Fantasy flights failure.
not only did they not make enough they have made patterns with the opening process which allow you to ascertain the value of a box before opening all the cards.. which allow you to cherry pick the value from boxes and sell the other packs to unsuspecting single pack collectors.

That's a good point. Good thing I buy from my LGS. I normally don't buy booster boxes from them because they are usually anywhere from 30% to 70% more than online.... but for some reason they are actually a bit cheaper for SWU...

I don't think it ruins box opening in any way though, it's only normal legendaries at the end of the day, you still have the foil, hyperspace and showcase to be excited about. Also now you're going to be even more excited to open a Luke because you it puts you in a potentially good pattern (and does it really? Could still be getting force lightning and command)

I also just recalled I had a single pack with Devaststor and Avenger together in the single pack at a sealed event😮. So that even jives. Lol
one box I opened only had two (2) regular bordered leggos, superlast blast and force lightning. so mine was an anomaly of some sort.

I've opened 3 boxes and not a single one matches any of these patterns so I'm not sure how this works. For instance, I've gotten Three black ones and not a single boba, devastator, avenger, cunning or Mace.
I've got three Force lightnings But only one of the cards on either side of it.
Pattern worked for my box, I got SuperLaser, Change of Heart and Force Lightning

This is very odd, I don't think that this pattern is absolute. I opened three boxes and never pulled a Luke, Black One, Mace, Vader, Change of Heart, or Force Lightning. However I did get at least one copy of all of the other legendaries. And the Command I got was a Hyperspace that was in the last uncommon slot of the pack it was in. Maybe I just didn't crack enough boxes for the pattern to emerge?
Hmm this doesn't fit my 3 boxes. Got non-foil 2x Black One's but no Boba's or Avengers, Got 2 Vaders, no Mace, only 1 Vigilance. If you can map the boxes, I wonder how many rares are in between Legendaries, that is going to be really bad for buying packs out of stores.
My one box was Vader > Mace > Vigilance in packs 4, 12, and 20, counting from the top of the left pile to the bottom of the right one.
That said, I've dozens of box opening videos where the legendaries weren't 8 packs apart like mine were.
If you want to be surprised opening your boxes and keep the "magic" alive there is a very simple way: 1st don't do such statistics yourself and 2nd don't watch/read the statistics others do.
regardless of the pattern you still don't know how many legendaries are in the box. I experienced a spread from 2 legendaries per box up to 6 in one. furthermore you don't know which ones and how many you will get in the next box.

Literally none of my boxes match this. I tracked everything I opened. I have 3x Luke, 2x command, 0x boba 1x force lightning, 1x black one. I recorded all 7 openings. This is shenanigans imho

@@ajvakarian I have plenty more legendaries. I'm not a CZcamsr so you won't find anything there. My point is because I have 3 lukes I should have pulled at least one more of those legendaries that I listed. My Black One came with a Vader and Aggression. My force lightning came with Cunning and Millennium Falcon. So either I had weird boxes or this "formula" isn't perfect. Which was all I was trying to communicate.

I opened a box last week that only had two base legendaries and it was Cunning and Darth Vader. If this is truly the pattern, I would say the order of cunning and mace should be flip flopped. Or I got super unlucky and went all the way around the horn from Vader back to cunning over all the other legendaries.
My 7 boxes match this. Exciting to get Vader and falcon, but pretty disappointing when I see a SL blast

After 4 boxes... I'm pretty sure this is correct. I've had two boxes that were change of heart, force lightning, and command... the cunning, mace, vader box was nice however, also had a chain lightning, command and Luke box. Thankfully the second box with change of heart, force lightning and command also had a hyperspace falcon, hyperspace command, and Showcase Jyn Erso that I traded to a guy for a fat stack of legendaries and rares I was missing so it could have been worse.😂
I got devastator through Darth Vader in the 1 box I've opened. I have one on its way so we'll see.
