I think my favorite thing about this podcast is as follows: even though Jocko has had such a successful career in the military, and even though he’s had so much success transitioning into civilian life, he never seems to get too big headed. He listens intently. He tells the truth, however hard it may be for anyone to hear. Jocko seems so eager to learn new information. His energy is infectious.
Finding this podcast has been one of my favorite things of the new year. I know I’m late to the party, but I’m just happy I’m here.
Same here!
Good on you!
One of the things he helps me with is trying to move up at work, I want to be a leader "make more money" but i dont like being an asshole, jocko doesnt haft to be an asshole his presence just screams leader. I listen to him alot.
A living legend
In my humble opinion, the best jocko podcast ive seen, intense, no-nonsense. Mr. Gardner should have his own podcast, wow, I like the way he tells his story, grabbed my attention and listened on the edge of my seat. Please bring him back for part 2. Thank you!
Good evening, Echo.
Good evening.
Good evening 👐🏾
Good evening.
Good evening. I'm Michael Jackson, from The Jacksons.
That intro is a little bit creepy. Good Evening
I have been read Beowulf since I could understand speech. Both of my parents are Medievalists and as a young child I taught myself to say “Beowulf is my name”. I have to say, hearing Beowulf read by a modern day Beowulf who fought the Grendels that prowl the real world was absolutely epic. Thanks, Jocko!
In normal life, there is no way I would wind up in earshot of this man's story sessions. Truly amazing, thank you all. Especially echo
Finally Jocko reads Beowulf! Get some 😤💪
About time, too. I've been waiting. I'm betting on Aristophanes next.
Goosebumps bro good shit
Would listen to Jocko read a Beowulf audiobook. Or more segments at least!
This guest was my favorite of all!!
Love to hear the play by play of these guys careers.
Keep them coming cause we’re locked on!
I loved it when the seal teams rolled with us! He said it felt like a beast rolling around us but it felt like call of duty with them!😂🙋🏽♂️
This two-part series was one of the most insightful military podcasts I've ever listened to
Damn right man.
Jason Gardner Rocks! What a cool guy. Jocko and Echo. You guys always rock! Laughed my *** off!
You notice all a lot of these team guys have voices that sound like they done just a life time of yelling? Their vocal cords seen better days
Hahaha yeah that’s interesting. Usually only see that with drill instructors and what not but I guess if you’re in consistent combat/training you’re yelling almost just as much.
I’d imagine they have to yell a lot over the sound of gun fire and ppl getting slaughtered by America.
Ahhhh haaa I C what’cha did there. Ya know a lotta people on here woulda missed that subtle nuance of genius that makes you the clever sand baggin son of a bitch that you are. Not me though. A genuine... welll we don’t need to go there.
@@BostonsF1nest you should join them
Jocko's thumbnails look like they're scheming world domination.
They are.
how u know dey nat?
@@MrXenon-hn7ju .... 😲
They are
Aren't they.
How on Earth could anyone give any of Jocko's podcasts a thumbs down? Love these.
@Ryan Crouch soyboys
Finally, Jocko podcast recognizes the genius of Sensei Master Ken.
Working for Echelon Front is DEFINITELY a much better plan than, "Doing some type of investment...stuff." That Mr. Gardner had planned the first time he got out of the Navy. Like Jocko says when you are getting ready to leave the service, "Find your next mission." Another awesome podcast!
I feel like a 10 year old boy after listening to these two warriors.
Echo lookin JACKED
He sounds like such a nice guy. Than you see him, and he looks like a Hawain Hulk.
Daniel Swithenbank Souls
@Daniel Swithenbank he has a tattoo of muscle fibers
Jocko uses Theo Von phrases. "use that hitter" too good man
Respect
Gang Gang
Onward
Get that hitta
1st time listener, but found you were awesome on Rogan, commenting, liking, and subscribing now! Respect to you and Master Chief Gardner from a former Marine. Semper Fi.
No such thing as a former marine
Stand by to get some.
Thank you both for these great lessons from the best
Love the Humility from you two. Especially to hear it from the Master Chief who was constantly reminding us how cocky he was. (And then more humbly states it was nothing but insecurity) Great Podcast! Amazing and very inspiring.
Joined the Navy 1985, born and raised in Detroit got stationed on a GMC out of San Diego where I first herd Black Flag and then the Circle Jerks never heard anything like it and immediately loved it , got into Metallica and Slayer and still jam to them today
The lighting and video treatment on this show is perfect.
Great interview. Really enjoyed this one.
Old school Jocko Podcast when that’s all there was. Applauding the rapid and much deserved, and Earned, success! But there was something irresistible about this time. I’m sure there are many awesome JP’s yet to be. But this is when I was hooked, hung on every word, becoming a loyal fan.
Thank you both for keeping the spirit of JP mostly real and raw.
Have marcus luttrell on the podcast
Luttrell abandoned his team. That’s the only thing that makes sense. Why would Murphy be screaming his name over and over?
@@dandearing9146 would still like to hear his story talking with jocko thou. may give us some new perspective
My son is transitioning from civilian to war fighter. At this moment he is engaged in the PAST test Air Force Spec Ops. Aspiring PJ, one of my greatest gifts I gave him was the link to this podcast. Thanks Jocko, for the podcast and the books.
Hope your kid makes it. PJs save lives man. We need them.
Sounds like your son is a badass MF. Better man than I am.
Just finished the long pipeline few months ago. How did your boy do?
When Jocko left for boot camp he said “pops” I’m leaving now so your the man of the house now.. lol Jockos face looks like it was made to fit in a Spartan helmet.. real deal right there
This is my favorite guest of any. The struggle is real.
Hell yeah guys! Great episode. Shout out to gbh and seal teams from San Diego!! Love what you guys are doing here. Cheers
Jocko, the warrior-philosopher. Truly a man among boys.
This episode is bad ass. I love this guy
This dang Podcast, just listening to Jocko and Echo jab and joke around with each other at the end of each podcast makes it so much more rewarding listening through every podcast. Just Jocko's evil laugh alone is worth waiting for. The genuineness in this podcast is unmatched in the very awkward world of podcasts out there. Thanks Jocko and Echo for your efforts! P.S. - Hoping to see Goggins in your podcast in the future!
I could listen to these two talk a lot longer than 3 hours.
Such a great story! Thank you for your service! 🇺🇸
It is wonderful watching such an intimate conversation between friends. It is as if nobody else is there. Also so amusing hearing “wasta”.
You can tell jocko is excited. Its nice to see\hear.
Its awesome to have such a big fan of the show on the podcast!
I love these interviews I find it interesting learning about war and hardship but most of all over coming the beast
SLAYER \m/Going to see them on my birthday in May! Found out about them when I was 12 from my buddies older brother and they make the hair on my arms stand up to this day 20 years later! Once I heard them, the bar was set!
I just seen them in Tampa, they killed it.
Completely missed this episode, like many others but still, what an inspiring and just awesome dude. Jocko, although this has been over a year ago, this still applies now, you are by far the best podcast host ever, like.. I listen to podcasts daily (mentors 4 military, mike ritland, the fieldcraft survival podcast, modern mindset, cleared hot, recon,..), but you really are by far the best host. Not because you're a giant of a man, not because you were a seal, not because of any of that, it's because you don't let ANY of that get to your head and you're just really genuinely interested in their stories, you let them speak you don't interrupt them (a big mistake from a lot of hosts), you really know how to kinda guide the guest into a certain way where they are really comfortable talking and sharing their stories. You sir deserve all the respect you get from the people around you, you definitely do.
Kind regards.
It gave me the biggest smile to hear Jocko Willink talking about hardcore.
These massive podcasts are awesome also!
As soon as i heard Jocko ask how he got into punk and metal i was like this dude is Awesome!
Jason Gardner was a cool guest! Really enjoyed hearing his story! 👍
I wish I had leadership like Jocko.
But then again, so does everyone else!
Jocko / EchoCharles 2020 !
But then again, we're not worthy.
I like this pod cast. This is like my 4th time listening to it. Jason G seens like a good dude
Love to hear an interview of HARRY CONSTANCE Seal and Author of "Good To Go". Great story the guy went through hell. He was a Seal in Vietnam .
Good stuff ! Guys I like how this guy tells his stories as if it's just him an jocko an echo .
Welcome aboard Master Chief , steaming to the west coast:)
Is it weird that hearing that initial story of his first sniper contact was actually better then any motivational video I could ever watch?
Listening to this episode is so GD satisfying
When Jocko showed up to BUDs they just gave him his Trident and told him to help the instructors .
Actually he said he struggled, but nice joke
Yawn
A great podcast.
Excellent podcast.
Listening to Echo cracking up was one of the best parts of this one
Adapt and overcome, the best skill you can have, its the skill to learn new things.
Great Podcast - My New Favorite Channel.
I think the closed loop is the best way to operate because we are talking those individuals with specialized training and experience and incorporating them back into our Frontline troops who otherwise may never get that type of leadership.
Jocko is Beowulf. Echo is Wiglaf.
Jocko would be the perfect dude to play Letho in The Witcher... Jocko, tiiime to start a movie career!!
crazyd3uces holy shit he would be perfect for that
I was getting ready for bed and literally before clicking in the video thumbnail, I said to myself, "Tell me a bedtime story uncle Jocko, and then i hear that opening excerpt he reads in the beginning, felt like Christmas in July 😂🤣
More Chicken Patties! Love that! Your guys are awesome!!!!! Appreciate you both!!!
Thank you jocko👏
This one and the Jonny kim one are my favorite podcast episode
Love Jocko's bemused expression when the conversation turns to Star Wars costumes.
Thank you for expanding my vocabulary, had to look up if bemused was a real word lol
It was "Target Focused Training" -- TFT.. the spinal reflex to the strike would dictate the reaction
Massive shade thrown.. OTOH jiu-jitsu can't beat a bum rush.. better to shoot from cover...or call in an airstrike :)
Thanks for another great podcast! A bit of explanation on some of the military jargon used during the podcast would have been great for to those of us who have never served in the military. Several times I found myself hoping the jacked Echo Charles would pipe up and ask, "what does that mean?"
this was so damn good
Old single shot McMillan 88! I remember seeing one of those at a gunshow in the 90s when I was in highschool. Not sure any other 50 cal is as cool!
Amazing convo!
We had to read Jockos book at my office! Very good!
You know what is f*(king crazy? I think I did some Training Ops with this Brother in the PI. I was station at VC-5 from 90-92 as a Rescue Swimmer/Aircrewman.
I wondered why he looked so damned familiar to me. Small GD world, man. lol
haha at 2:24:26 Jocko said "Get that Hitta" haha anyone else Theo Von fans in here? #ganggang
Another at 2:26:50 haha ... Check.
I went to school with Theo in jr high.I didn't know he even spoke until he was on Mtv Road Rules.
@@9thGenerationCajun very cool. Covington eh? He's a very funny comedian. crazy success with his own podcast and he's been on Joe Rogans podcast like 4 times. awesome.
@@CodyAnderson333 actually he lived in a neighboring town called Slidell a New Orleans suburb.
@@9thGenerationCajunok he's said he lived about 20 mins away from Slidell but I suppose thats all the same shit lol.. He has said that he lived with his mom for awhile and with a family friend for awhile so he probably moved around the area a bit. thats pretty cool that you went to school with him man. gang gang bruh.
So crazy earlier in this podcast I was thinking damn, being in the water I've never heard any stories about sharks and Baaaam! You guys touch on it.
Listening to “Puff the Magic Dragon” while watching Puff the Magic Dragon work over a hillside.
How have I not heard of this Podcast today. I heard Andy on Rogan. Then today Jocko is on my feed today. Strange. Well I can try and clue in while sheltering in place. Great stuff.
That’s how the algorithm works
This guest is top notch entertainment.
So true lol.. I always made sure I had friends in the galley and supply,, always needed food and boondockers
1:16:01 Beginning of his combat in Somalia story...
Thanks!
Finally thanks
Gator Squares off the coast of Africa for months on end? Whoa....you weren't by chance on the Med Float off the coast of Congo and Zaire aboard the Nassau LHA 4 with me, were ya?
Thank you!
I knew Dan Carol from years ago, Great man!
Look for the speech ( on youtube ) that Jason gave to a bunch of seals before starting a mission, its awesome….
I'm interested in starting to eat healthy. Can you list what you eat in your diet, maybe make a recipe book{ just a thought} and I'm truly glad I found you on Joe Rogan and have enjoyed watching your positive and inspirational podcasts!
I just imagine jocko, leif, tony, chris and the whole squad rolling into ramadi blasting pantera or slayer or some shit and scaring the piss out of the enemy. Shits like a movie in my head.
Oh h*ll yes, except I'm seeing squads from EVERYWHERE ... TO TAKE OUT THE ENEMY AND THEIR TROLLS!
I definitely heard Reign in Blood playing over the PA system of an MRAP the squad guys were using at like 0400 after coming back from a mission. Caught myself instinctively begin to nod my head, make the metal face, and make the horns. 😂
I got IA orders to Iraq in 09-10. After arriving in Ramadi I was finally told I was augmenting a SEAL team. Im nothing special but worked hard to do my job right tracking missions and doing supply runs to smaller OPs. Mr Babin was my operations officer for that deployment and as a person who worked in operations I spoke with him daily. I can’t forget the “classroom” Instruction (for EXW pin) he gave about expeditionary operations. For two hours he described the scenario, decisions made, and what he experienced during the Battle for Ramadi in 06. Being face to face and hearing this first hand really stuck with me.
I (USAF CES) gave the Team on my FOB 3 generators, and lumber (build a practice house). They gave us their range for 10 hours, captured weapons, ammo. My fav was the Russian RPK, this thing jamming on me, I'm working it. SEAL comes over with jug of SAE 30 dumps on, says "RACK IT". Worked like champ. Like old MASH episodes, trade what you got.
I’m a loyal fan and I’m just curious why anyone could give jocko’s pods a thumbs down?
Insecurity maybe?? I'm w you, dont get that either, but to each their own i suppose 😎
Nine ISIS members have watched this based on current thumbs down. Stay on the path, find them.
As a former sailor, becoming friendly with someone who works in the galley, and supply is always a smart move
Fantastic guest, terrific podcast!
Mr. Gardner was in Gordon Forbes documentary about navy seals. He talks about that .50 cal experience
Hell yeah! Master chief loves the dead Kennedys!! That’s awesome! US Navy Veteran 1994-2004 ...SH2(sw) we had Navy Seals on our deployment in 1997 onboard the USS Ashland LSD 48..they were crazy but cool as F!!
"Well, they tell you that but I finally started listening to them".
Jocko would kick ass at doing Voice Over work for Anime. that voice.... would def do justice to so many Characters.
I got to train some Seabees in Guam and just wondering if you ever been to the bar called Big Will's with a huge Clydesdale in front of it. Well after a good night there I road that horse!
Mr. Gardener's attitude reminds me a bit of Jesse James' (West Coast Choppers).
When Jocko is talking about martial arts he starts sounding like Rex from Napoleon Dynamite. ‘Bow to your sensei!’ 🤣 ‘no one wants a roundhouse kick to face while I’m wearing these bad boys.’
Thank you!♥️😁
Jocko.. Brother cant forget Bad Religion and the Descendents.. !
