Great break down. I finally finished my 1990 MU set in all PSA 9/10’s. The goal is to eventually be all 10s but currently sitting at around 135 of 162 in PSA 10.
That particular Captain Brittain card was SO important to my childhood!!!
These are really cool looking cards. They were well made except for the fact that the centering is so hard to find in a ten !

Since the most value is in the Mint 10s, Do you think over time people will be cracking open slabbed 9s to press and resend in the hopes of getting a bump-up grade? (Like comics) Could affect the census over time. I've seen many reveal videos for these Impel 90-91 cards and the difference between 9/10 is often very difficult to spot.

People have pumped this set … it’s overvalued … the first appearance of Spider-Man, Thor, Iron Man, Daredevil is the 66-card 1966 Donruss Marvel cards. 1990 impel has some valuable first appearances but is half the age and much higher print run. Just my opinion

I feel it's pure nostalgia, that's it. When I started collecting Marvel Cards, series one was where it started for me. But it is very odd that these hold more value over the older cards.
I am trying to a whole set together. so HTF, but i do think it is just most people didnt have the 87s when they were kids. i did thats why i collect them but most collected Impel. a full set of 87 goes for more than a full set of 90 so there is that
