  • This was my first time using this type of tool as a homeowner. Hopefully, it will help others looking to try this out on their own. It is a messy job so be brave. Video was shot handheld in pretty cramped spaces so please excuse any shaky footage.

It's good to see that things can go wrong. The other 9 videos demonstrating this tool were like Ryobi commercials. Still, good tool. I love Ryobi.

*YES THE SNAKE CAN SNAP AND BREAK. MY RIDGID SNAKE SNAPPED ABOUT 8 FEET INTO THE PIPE WHEN IT WAS RETURNING. DIDNT HAVE THE WATER RUNNING* _THE SNAKE IS STILL IN THE DRAIN PIPES_
    THAT RYOBI FEEDS REALLY NICE.

Very Informative, I wished Ridgid had something like this.

I bought one a couple days ago. The auto feed button was pushed in and it works great spooling out the cable, but I could not push the button from the other side to reverse the feed (back in the case). I took it back to Home Depot and they had a Ryobi representative there. He tried to bush the button back without any success. He went and got another one and at first it didn't want to press in until you pressed up on the top handle and the plastic auto feed button did reverse the cable. I hope it gets easier when I use it more.
Anyone else found this to happen?

See page 7 of the English manual, under AUTO-FEED LOCK. You must squeeze the pommel each time you engage or disengage the auto-feed, while moving the lock. I’m pretty adept with mechanical things and tools, but it took several reads of the manual and dry runs of the tool to understand just how it works. Probably good to keep the manual handy with the tool, since one will probably not use this very often. It would be easy to forget how it works. Of course, this video can save the day!😊

Also you need to take the wall tube assembly out to feed your auger down.

If the snake did not unclog the pipe, if you have a power washer there is a hose with different interchangeable attachment that you can connect to the power washer and unclog your pipes through water pressure.

How are you going to bend from the kitchen sink traps? Does not make any sense.

I did purchase the 1,900 psi Ryobi pressure washer. It works great cleaning cars and with the soap cannon it really puts out the foam.
I also ordered the high pressure drain cleaning jetter. The hose is about 30' which is long enough for my needs. You can also get a 50' hose.

@@ladha99It seals at the entrance and just forces water into the drain to clear the clog with pressure. The power washer hose doesn't actually go down the drain.

1-½" pipe max length before a vent is 6 feet. 2" is 8 feet

5:30 he said it’s not recommended. I guess if it all you are cleaning is the larger pipe what should be ok. However, if you run it from a small pipe to a larger one and clogs up in the larger one, you may not be able to pull it back our through the small pipe.

Add a tee and studor vent on that kitchen sink drain!

An air admittance valve (AAV) is a one-way mechanical valve that is installed locally at the site of a plumbing fixture, allowing proper venting to occur without a connection to a larger venting system and stack vent. AAVs are gravity-operated devices that respond to the negative pressure of draining water and open to let air in. They are used most commonly at an island sink or vanity, and may be used to prevent roof penetrations.

Its still slow because the pipe is way to long before it reaches a vent. Its choking itself out

@@chingonbass it can kink or bind up and wrap around you or stuff around you. Smaller cables tend to hurt less.
